Waddell was always going to play regardless of one trial game form.
Tom headhunted him, and not to play Reggies.
There’s plenty in him.

+xWaddell was always going to play regardless of one trial game form. Tom headhunted him, and not to play Reggies. There’s plenty in him. I wasn't happy with his trial performance, but it was only 1 game. The main problem was a lack of patience in attack, pushing options that were not on. Maybe that was what the coach wanted, not the options going bad, but Waddell trying them. This game is hard to call, one or 2 selections probably don't make a big difference. The guys that might spark our attack are Averillo, Elliott and Dietz, RFM probably needs a few games to work into form.

+xI think it’s becoming clear Lewis is a long way from NRL under Toms plans. Absolutely no spot for him in the halves, there’s 3 in front of him and another coming next year. We really should be looking to trade him out before Aug 31, best for him best for us.
Lewis for Burton would be perfect. Unlikely though.

If will be interesting to see where Lewis plays in reserve grade, he is no certainty to be in the halves, Baz might try him elsewhere. If he is in the halves in reserve grade he should consider a trade. But unless his form and consistency improve, he will not walk into a first choice starting NRL spot at any club. He needed a good trial performance and didn't deliver, in fact BBO looked better, so are we playing BBO in flegg or reserve grade? I think he is ready for the step up. I have some doubts about Flanagan, but I rate Burton, Averillo, Wakeham, and BBO. Someone will need to leave, or convert to another position. One question mark on Averillo and BBO is defence, no question both have the attack, and the confidence to use it.

Boys really need to come out on fire this Friday night. If Hetho and Ogden can push through the middle we have Newcastle covered out wide. Really need space for Avo, Cotric and Allen. All have plenty of points.
Just need to take advantage of the six again offside rule. Quick play the ball and big bodies up the middle. Watson at lock should be a target.
Run Dietz Run!!!!

Best 17 in a loooong time, Thommo and OK to come back a bonus...
Goid to the NVL giving us a break re Deitz... Greenturd would’ve fined us for asking before writing a (shady) character reference or two...
As for SC plenty of cheap CTW options available... I can’t find a special for bargain basement price this year so will nominate Hudson Young to become a SC gun...

Will Mr Dietz bring up Dman's essay on Dutchy's blue eyes when he picks up the MOM? BTW your maths assignment is decades overdue.

Last time Melbourne lost opening round was in 2001 against Dogs...in a match with new Bulldogs Luke Patten and the Whippet on the wing...may have been Willie's first grade debut as well...it almost seems like the last time we won in the opening round...though I know it isn't. Hopefully we will hit the ground running.

Here’s a question... actually two questions...
Did anyone notice Brandon Smith tonight? Does anybody remember a game where Brandon Smith played backrow where you didn’t notice Brandon Smith?
Brandon Smith is a backrower, one of the best in the game.
As a #9, one of the more average.

hard to get past the unforced error rate in that game..
first 5 games should be about completed sets and drawing through combinations
5-15 stepping out and dominating teams delivering on rep duties and getting through injury
15 -20 elevation pushing through a higher gear superior players finding their niche and veterans leading the squad
20-26 finals footy
finals footy last man standing

enough of the Tolman bashing guys
had a brain for football and was found in the right place hundreds of times in cover defence
put his body on the line in attack and defence
for Tolman to end up with the ball on play 4 in front of the posts was no fluke
a more influential haves combination would have been pushing up for that ball and preventing it from happening
Mbye Lewis Reynolds etc etc etc never commanded the footy
hard to believe Mbye is being talked about as a number 6 again lol
leaders don't declare when asked they are just happy to be on the field i don't care where i play..
real sportsman want the ball in hand - want to make the play want to call the shots!!
