Should have an Aussie only side face nz in a few friendlies so the coaches get more of a look at players.

Quite the step up in pace. W league final today will look like it's slow motion if they keep this up.

Well that's shit. Polkinghorne looks slow. Is she Lucas Neil circa 2010?

The gulf in quality is significant based on this so far.
The new manager will need to put in a lot of work to get the structure and style of play to pay off, but certainly a big test.

+xNowhere near our best side, not expecting much. We certainly need more depth though. Injuries will happen, so it is key to ensure that we focus not just our preferred XI, but strengthen the squad overall.
He will certainly have to use every opportunity over the next couple of years to find a way to implement a cohesive structure for the broader squad of players to be comfortable playing.

Germany passing around to their players at will in our third. No pressure from us. Our best side or not we're being outclassed all over the field. Kerr can't even get the ball.

Apparently 6 Wolfsburg players missed out due to quarantine. How many realistic good players were we missing? It's bad reading.

Goodbye top 10 ranking over the next year or 2. Not sure about this Ange-ball, play it out from the back in all instances, we were trying to play. Germany took us apart with a high press but also showed us how to get out of a high press with a nice chipped delivery to their midfielders when they wanted to move it quickly from their keeper. Can only hope we were rusty and we perform better against the Netherlands. If we get caned there as well we're in the shit big time.

No genuine RB or LB on the field. Rostbakken switched from RB to LB did not help her and neither did playing her injured. Wrong game to bring her in. Gielnik is a central striker even though she plays wider and deeper as required throughout games. Having her and Kerr is not a good combination. Fowler had a pretty good spell. I like Raso as a player but having her at RB was not good. Both CBs were exposed by not having quality support beside them. 'Pass to a yellow shirt' would not have been a bad tactic to introduce. We had some awful passing that put us under hideous pressure time and again. That game showed Germany's depth and quality, but really did not show the Matilda's capability - just our frailty if we are running with our second and third players for positions. Good lessons for Gustavsen, and good run for Matildas to build a desire to play better. We needed to get smacked in our first game back - a bumbling draw or closer scoreline playing with that form would have crippled us for future games. Gielnik and Fowler were about the only Matildas to have done their chances much good I thought. I did see the crazy German woman coaching Germany smile a couple of times - can't see players crossing her or not playing as instructed. Fierce and intense :)
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Did the matildas miss as much football as the socceroos have compared to the rest of the world. The guys have missed alot of football and i reckon it'll take two years to catch up if we can so will that hurt the girls?

At least he can use these hit outs to see who's got what in the squad, what i saw last night was a complete gulf in how the game should be played...we got a ways to go....yeh we had 2 defenders out but we couldn't hold the ball in midfield let alone be of service in attack. Deadwood needs to be pruned if he wants to make a showing.
