Teague made his first team debut Overnight in the cup. Incredible

Huge for Australian football, but not at all surprising. He was nominated for Liga Revelecao player of the year - player of the year in the national U23 league. The club clearly believe in him - he's trained with the first team for 18 months now. Anyone who saw him playing NPL in 2019 would have said he could play at a very high level, he confirmed that belief at the U17 World Cup and now here he is.
His development is demonstrative of the value of A-League reserve teams playing NPL1. Playing against men playing a high level at age 16-17 is the best way to develop players. If that can't happen in the first team then the NPL is the next best thing. This is why deserving A-League reserve teams (Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane) must be in NSD, as I have said all along.

fantastic for Teague... I remember looking at their squad a few weeks back they were short a DM and I was hoping for the best.

Goes to show what a good agent does, he has been instrumental in getting him playing men's football at a young age in a great development league.

Jorge Mendes is one of the best agents in the world, so he's in good hands.

Real Sociedad confirm that @socceroos keeper @MatyRyan has suffered a knee injury in training which means he’ll now need surgery.

Suffered a cartilage injury to his right knee and will undergo an Arthroscopy.

Recovery time around 4-6weeks.

As per Real Sociedad website today, Mat Ryan will have an arthroscopy on his right knee tomorrow (26/7). Reportedly, he twisted the knee at training last Wednesday and an examination found a lesion in part of the knee cartilage.
Hopefully this doesn't set him back too much. Naturally, he missed yesterday's friendly against Deportivo Alaves, with Remiro playing the full game in goal.

Great news for Teague. How many Aussies have played in the Portugal top flight? I remember Davidson, Mabel and Ansell (!). Maybe a goalkeeper?

sucks for Ryan. Hopefully he’ll be back and playing before the next qualifying games.

Probably not back in time for the Sept qualifiers. Who should replace him?
Did Anthony Carter ever play any cup games in top league in Portugal. Didnt McGowan play in Portugal at one stage?

Jackson started against Ulsan. Leading 3-1 away from home just before half time.

4-1 now. Crazy.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Ended 5-2 with Jackson playing 79 minutes. I'd imagine that was one of Ulsan's worst defeats at home in a while.
Gibbs scored. Third most goals in the Icelandic top flight, five off the pace.

Given our midfield stocks are quite deep I expect Teague to part of our next Olyroos group for Paris 2024.

A very good talent too.

Unbelievable. Injured his knee when he was at Valencia too. Such bad luck. Will make it harder for him to become first choice.

Degenek seems to be in a difficult spot this season. He has to have dropped to 4th choice centreback with Dragovic coming in from Leverkusen, Babic returning from loan and Pankov his partner last season but preffered over him. An article I saw today suggests he is an option at right back which may be his best chance to become a regular starter.

Anyone know a lot about fulham and if Fracois has a good chance of significant minutes this season? Got 70 minutes in their first friendly with southampton but With Seri + Harry Wilson in I feel like it is not looking good without fulham selling a couple.

all the reports from fulham suggest Francois will be a first team player. His brother Marlee has also been heavily involved in pre-season for Bristol City, so too Zak Gilsenan for Blackburn. As I've said previously, the team for the 2023 U20 world cup - if it goes ahead - is going to be excellent if it qualifies.
