+xNot good for Ange. I’ve said it before, we should get John souttar for the Socceroos as well. He has played 3 games for Scotland, so he is unavailable.

I thought if there was enough time between appearances and he had an Aussie passport when he played for Scotland then he would still be eligible. Anyway, I’m sure arnie has looked into it.

Tyrese Francois started in a friendly against Charlton. He set up the only goal of the game with a fantastic pass. Some on Fulham socials saying he was MOM. Either way, promising for the upcoming season

+xRobertson on the bench in the league opener against St. Johnston. Unused sub. I mean is Ross County v St Johnston a better level than a Sydney FC v Melbourne City game? I wouldn't have thought so. I know he's only 18 & it's his first game, but is he that much better than what we've already got coming through? I.e. Teague, Neiwenhof, Akbari

No one really knows how he’ll perform against adult pros, but if he comes close to replicating his junior appearances he’ll do alright.

Different circumstances for everyone though. Interesting to note that the only Australian midfielder of Robertson's age group to have played senior football is Idrus Abdulahi, who seems to have walked away from football now.

If he was draped in an Australian flag on social media & every time he was interviewed he mentioned that it's his dream to pull on the Socceroos jersey, then I would definitely follow his progress a lot closer. I've watched his highlights from Man City u23s & England under age teams, and he looks pretty good, but I haven't seen him play a full game. I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes against Pros.

No Irvine yet. They won't be changing the winning squad. Cup next week so he will hopefully feature then. The stupid thing is cups are always risky. Like with Behich, you make your debut there and have a bad day and get stamped a failure forever. It's a ridiculous way to judge a player. Irvine will be eased in and injury and suspension will come soon enough in the squad.

OK I've done some digging. Irvine actually started training only three days ago. Clearly they've given him some rest and time to set himself up in Hamburg. That'll pay off.

Dresdon aren't having much joy. Borrello unable to do much. Grant started for Pohang Borrello dragged... Not surprised but ffs. 90 for Grant. 1-1 away to Daegu Luongo, Duncan bench No Teague
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Silva on Francois to the athletic https://theathletic.com/2744683/2021/08/01/silvas-fulham-is-taking-shape-with-youngsters-francois-and-carvalho-to-the-fore/?article_source=search&search_query=Francois“Francois got the chance to do pre-season with us and I’m really impressed. He’s enjoying these first few weeks. He has big competition in that position but he is learning. Everything I ask him, he understands really fast and tries to do it the next day. This is a very good thing for a manager.” . . . “It’s up to them (Francois and Carvalho) (whether they will be involved this season). The competition will be hard but it’s up to them to keep showing their quality. We’re talking about one week before the start of the Championship. If they are playing and starting one game, one week before that, means they are doing well. “I don’t know if they will be involved in 46 games or 40 or 30, because there is big competition. I want competition but for now, I’m really happy with them.”

Man City would’ve loaned him to a higher level if they had high expectations.

I don't know mate, it sounded like he is really happy with him. If he keeps delivering balls to his striker's like he did yesterday, he'll play quite a bit this season.

I'll get some people scoff at this but i think it could be argued that Boyle is close to the best player in the SPFL atm on current form. Was named in the SPFL team of the season (ahead of Celtic's Ryan Christie, James Forrest, Elyounssi) and has come out of the blocks flying this season. Was already linked with Celtic last season before Ange came in, i think he could see a few transfer bids if he continues this til Dec.
