Why would Vietnam serve you a pitch like that? They depend on technique players more than is.
This is post is actually quite offensive.  Have you ever been to a Vietnam?

This is true. That said, their infrastructure isn't world class. We're not going to get a cow paddock, but it's also going to be worse than the pitch we just played on.

Full Replay still isnt up. So pathetic given the horrible start time. Why is it so hard to get a full replay up?

Because they’re one of the worst footballing nations on earth and don’t deserve to be anywhere near a World Cup.

Have they even produced one half decent professional player in the history? Genuine question.

Have you seen them recently? i was in vietnam for their home game against the UAE in november 19, from memory you were right in that the pitch was not great but they played quite a nice brand of football. They were missing a bit of football smarts in their tactics however there were quite a few players with very nice skills that i came away thinking would be standouts in the aleague.

they are also a football mad country, the tiny roadside bar in the middle of nowhere was packed for the game. they all looked at me like i was crazy, as the only white man (probably in the town at the time) sitting down watching football drinking beers with them. great memory.

Dunno how you can say that. I hope it's not the case but if you have watched these qualifiers over the years you find that it's normally always the case with SEA nations to serve up sub-par pitches, Thailand last campaign was a goat track, Syria in Malaysia in the fourth round was a goat track.

We have some special players into our midfield Hrustic, Rogic & Mooy, so excited that has the ability break down defences. Some of those  touches by Rogic to set attacks away were special. Hrustic also stamped his authority & getting more & more a big player for the Socceroos. Mooy has always been special.

Hopefully Luongo comes back as well & Azani continues to improve, we need special players with Depth.

Me too. Really stock-standard stuff but it's early days, hopefully they'll grow into it but I think from the pundits thy've signed on they need a "character" like to liven things up.

I was thinking the same thing. The host was fine but I'd prefer Adam Peacock (or mel) I think georgia is fine,  and I'd take Brosque over Millsy, definitely need that character type like Bozza or Archie. Would love to see Ljubo, that would be fantastic hahaha.

Robbie Cornthwaite could be someone who would add a bit,  he's not so bland, but he's not an idiot like archie or bozza.

I just like having central attacking options, for years it was go wide, go to the head. It almost feels like our options in the centre  now mean the wings are there once again as a back up plan and not a main option.

Exactly, our central attacking options are huge & I also like Irvine in the defensive role, he played a huge part.

Pretty good start by the lads, didnt know what to expect from China but they did start with positive intent to press us and we didnt look comfortable.

But after moving Hrustic further forward to help support Rogic it helped us get more control of the game and we scored two good goals from transitional moments from that.

The front 3 of Mabil, Boyle and Taggart showed good movement so it was nice we able to create chances from it.

Overall its nice to have a bit of depth when the likes of Mooy, Arzani, McGree are on the bench, plus others back home.

so real talk....how were china so bad given what they have on paper

I mean, they weren't much better than taiwan

They started well they looked to lose composure as the game went on, I think the lack of players in decent euro leagues unlike our boys so we had that advantage to play at a higher level.

they had some players with great experience mind you!

Elkeson has played 100 games in the top division of brazil
Wu lei with nearly 100 games in la liga
Browning with a bunch of games in the english championship. Most of them have acl experience as well, granted with excellent foreign players, but still

on paper that is all better than many of the other teams in asia we face and find it harder to win against

Jesus Christ It’s not - for now, but I’m less confident after Afghanistan.

Taiwan is China. They say so and have always said so (at least since the civil war).  Their preferred name for their state is the Republic of China (ROC).
It hasn't been an independent territory since at least the 1600s.
The KMT retreated to Taiwan from the mainland in 1949 and have constantly claimed to be the legitimate government for all of China.
Until the 1970s the west supported that claim but finally accepted the reality that the CCP was actually in power.
The People's Republic of China also claim to be the legitimate government for all of China.

The current stalemate and nomenclature du jour allows both to prosper without surrendering their claims.  A new generation of Taiwanese has moved away from the KMT but has done little else but maintain the status quo.  They have not declared independence.

Taiwan is for all intents and purposes an independent nation and it's weak as piss for nations like America, Britain, Australia etc to not recognise them as such.

Arnie has surprised me again, playing in Qatar might be a master stroke - it is almost a second home, will so beneficial for next year. Just gotta hope for favourable draw.

It was our best performance for a while against the strongest opposition we've faced in this WCQ campaign. Wu Lei and Elkeson are class players.

Elkeson has really worried Aus clubs in the Asian Champ League.

I'd love to see a replay, but Ten hasn't got one on their program.

Good to see Boyle and Mabil potent around goal. Boyle in particular was wonderful closing them down when they had the ball. Both players also created a lot of effective off the ball  movement when we had the ball, with bent and diagonal runs.

After previously suggesting Jackson Irvine doesn't have quick enough handling speed and ability to play pass and move football in tight spaces of sufficient quality for the Socceroos, he keeps improving for the national team.

We should have scored more goals.

After I thought Trent Sainsbury's best was around the Asian Cup 2015, he played the best I've seen him play for some time last night.

All goals were field goals too - no set piece goals.

what surprised me was the quality of 1st touches under pressure from hard hit deliveries from Australia. Maybe I'm watching too much celtic mind you and getting used to the ball balooning of the cb or mids foot everytime

Sains and Rogic getting back to form is a huge plus

I also can't get over how quickly hrustic has improved, he had a fairly modest start in europe

Pleased with Taggart's performance, but glad my man Mitch got the third goal. Both have the opportunity these two windows to cement their place at the top of the pecking order and shut Jamie Mclaren out.

Why on earth would you want MacLaren shut out? Easily the best striker we have right now. Taggart didn't do anywhere near enough, although his chip for the first goal was good.

This is post is actually quite offensive.  Have you ever been to a Vietnam?

Make your own mind up. Looks pretty poor to me:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHMUCocYNsk

Australian pitches are often shit too.  Is that considered offensive?

And yes I've been to Vietnam. Spent nearly three months there back in 2009.  Beautiful country and people.
