when having the jab make sure to ask the vaccinator is aspirating , this stops vaccine going into bloodstream and should prevent myocardis problem

Sure thing mate. I got my first jab 2 weeks ago and besides a sore arm I was fine.  Compared to a serverly broken leg . Having a sore arm is the least of my worries

I've been trying to book my second Pfizer dose several times every day since getting my first dose a week ago and there was absolutely nothing every time, until my successful attempt just now. I didn't check to see how many available appointments there were of course because I booked it as quickly as possible before they were all snapped up, but it was at least a full page.

We all know that this is solely because Scomo got busted sending Victoria's share of vaccines to Sydney without agreement the other day.

The betrayal by my own federal government feels personal to me right now.

not sure where you live, but normally there are spots in the outer suburbs and even regional and you are allowed to travel for vax in Melb.

Yeah I tried to be creative over where I searched in the last week but every time there was just one or two available in one of the smaller places it was taken by the time I clicked on it. All rather frustrating because I live right near the biggest state-run facility.

As I understand it you can't go outside metro Melb for a vaccine.

Couple of interesting observations, Covid doesnt even rate in the stats (which is quite interesting considering we are in a "pandemic") and deaths were above average at start of this year when there was basically zero covid, but lower than average in Jul-Aug 2020 when Covid infections were highest

Of the 6 jab bookings done in our family, the 2nd jab re appointment was done at the time recieving the 1st.
What a system you have down there it seems, no wonder the angst.....

Oh by the way I had been informed NSW got 400k priority dose's due to the circumstances, about 10%, wouldn't it make sense trying to help contain the main prob that can penetrate everywhere else, oh but Dan says with puffed chest, what a hero.
Not one Fed Gov anywhere in the world has run smoothly with this shit show, unless someone can confirm as such.

Probably because we have our two largest states in a lockdown to minimise the impact of a pandemic?

The system itself works fine based on my own experience, the booking website is straightforward and everyone at the vaccine centre was great.

Only problem is that they didn't have any vaccines to give, and we all know why.

If I could get some I'd freight it down for you.

Why don't people get the AZ, nothing wrong with it and I expect in supply.

You're referring to the extra doses for NSW that were agreed upon by National Cabinet, but they were getting more after that without the other states' knowledge or consent, which is what Andrews objected to.

Not exactly. There is a point where restrictions added have no additional impact (like how much water can you drink until you are no longer thirsty). There is a point where restrictions added will have a negative impact (drinking too much water). And there are also the restrictions that will have no impact (being thirsty and trying to resolve it by reading a book)

Once of the things response teams have said is "if we stay open it will take 3 or 4 months before the virus numbers are low so we are locking down to attack it early and avoid months of restrictions". If you look at both Vic and NSW one has to ask whether a stage 2 or 3 lockdown for 3 months would have done the same job in terms of daily numbers, but a better job in terms of social options and economy

There are options when it comes to controlling a viral outbreak. Just not when one starts with the answer or has an agenda

under handed those extras sure agreed, was it needed, due to the zombie infection rates in Sydney yes.
I wouldn't hold anything towards it, I would see that if it was Qld or you guys or tim buck 2 the fire needed tending.
We got to get over this shit of state wars for it will never stop, under handed deals and the like will never stop, been going on for centuries.

Upon my 1st AZ shot it came to hand you could get the 2nd 2wks earlier than the previous 12 therefore I re scheduled mine.
Main thing is 1st shot already has you in good steed.
Touch wood and luck you can get your 2nd booking confirmed soon.

well I wouldn't say its apples with apples imo.
3 party ruled country (mind you the 3rd is relatively new) compared to our absolute how many parties today shit show.
PAP party has a massive majority ruling BUT the countires history is 2 party whereas we wanted more over the times and look where its got us....
Comparing us to granted a wealthy mid sized nation BUT a population that would comply farfar better than us, correct look at their covid stats, says it all.
I think a comparo or discussion should apply to the DNA of its people not just on leadership, for like a football team we need all to work together where we have not shown that one iota. ( I'd say re peoples DNA/behaviour we have been no better than US citizens more than anything else and look where they are, we're so similar its not fuinny with the problems be it political be it covid with far less population)
From Fed Gov, to State Prems to the rank and file and I'm sure their media is no where near as agenda bad as ours (singapore)

agreed, all and good we keep the fire on scomo and all but some of the crap that has come out of QLD is typical redneck madness.
Each Prem, their CHO have all played their part in this show.
I won't stand by Glady blindly like some in Melb stand by Dan, he's very schrewed in playing the game and suck supporters in but he's right up there with the games and tyring to make sure the mud doesn't stick in the past, ok calling out re the under handed vaccines but never forget what he's done to Victorians period.
Glady dropped her game sometime ago, Chant isn't too bad under the strains but at least she isn't stooopid like Young quoting absolute trash for a so called CHO..

One of the most densely and urbanised populated country in the world. One fifth of our population. A highly compliant population used to trusting their government. Media that toes the line. Effectively a one party system country (some would say a benevolent dictatorship) with no effective opposition.

Australia is also one of the most urbanised countries (although isn't density a disadvantage in a pandemic?) and it's fair to argue that we have one the highest amounts of trust in government in the world with our long history of peace. I wouldn't say that the media toes the line here, rather the party in power is the political arm of the Murdoch media empire.

Singapore has less than a kilometre of water from the Asian mainland and is surrounded on all other sides by Indonesia, one of the worst affected countries.

Yeah. Apples and apples. Japan would be closer to us and they've botched it beyond belief.

Japan is, in turn, five times our population. Yeah. Apples and apples.

LFC is correct. No government has really covered themselves in glory over this.

Even if that's true, it doesn't excuse Scomo one bit. "Yeah we did a shit job, but so has the Central African Republic." Yeah right.

No government in the world except perhaps NZ was in a better position to get their people through the pandemic, but Scomo has fucked up everything he possibly could have, and rorted what was left.

Our biggest fuck up to date was not having enough vaccines. Had we had those 3 months earlier and an outbreak like now we'd be well over the 80% already. Thanks Slomo.

- Was listening to Triple J this morning in the car and Dr. Karl was on. He said (and I am paraphrasing here) it's likely the whole world's population will need to be vaccinated every 6 months for the next 50 years or so. If this is the generally accepted consensus, the amount of money to be made and power up for grabs is mind-boggling. Anybody who develops a vaccine or shares information that threatened to derail that gravy train would be in great danger.

- The NSW government announcement on vaccine passports (and that's exactly what they are, no matter how they try to couch it in euphemisms) is completely the wrong move. They're effectively setting up a two-tier society and the fact is that there are going to be plenty of people who aren't fully vaccinated or even halfway there in a months' time. I also heard that vaccination rates in NSW are beginning to slow down- and is it any wonder when the government comes out and tries to manipulate the population into doing what they want while holding their basic freedoms hostage? Why should the vaccine hesitant or the skeptics not expect us to reach that 'magic' 70% number only for government to turn around and say "Actually we need it to be 80%/ 90% now to go back to normal?" By taking this hard-line approach, they're only making it more difficult to achieve their goal.

There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

Agree.

This is illogical. Singapore has had multitude more cases than Australia, does they make them a failure?
Singapore’s very low case fatality rate is due to the vast majority of its cases last year were in migrant worker camps. Most of these were young men whose jobs involve physical labour - they were at extremely low risk of death. Guess which other countries had similar low CFR’s? The gulf states - Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and UAE - all have very large populations of the same types of migrant workers. These workers live in cramped conditions hence the spread, but they are young and physically active hence the low death rates
