Anyway good stuff seeing people getting on with jabs.

That sucks mate. If you've had the appropriate tests done to check that your heart's OK then it it may just be anxiety.

I'm an incredibly anxious person and the bizarre symptoms my body has thrown at me over the years are endless, including chest pain/tightness.

Italy making the move to make vaccines mandatory for vast majority of Italian workers. President Draghi even mulling the idea of making the vaccine mandatory for all citizens. Pretty amazing for a country that used to be quite anti-vax
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/16/world/italy-extends-its-health-pass-requirement-to-cover-most-workers-public-and-private.html

Our vaccination rates have been higher than I expected and high rates in nsw and vic will get oz as a whole across 80% overall but I see WA and QLD lagging quite a long way behind and I doubt NT will ever get there. I definitely see quite hardcore vaccine mandates as hospitals get strained and people get the shots with unvaccinated people stopping us getting back to normal.

In the short to medium term the key now is will the premiers hold out as Hospitals fill up with unvaccinated as lockdowns lift and the exit wave begins (at least in naw and vic). I think Vic will fold pretty quickly, NSW will hold out as long as possible but an election early next year will pressure SCOMO to backtrack.
Every melburnian anticipating dan’s roadmap out tomorrow but I think it will be both a let down and unrealistic.
the Victorian health minister foley today said hospitalisations are expected to quadruple in October from 200 currently to over 800 and said the roadmap to be outlined tomorrow will have cases counts (not just hospitalisations and ICU beds) as determinants of easing restrictions
So as cases go up past 1000 per day next month, this will give them the cover to push back easing - blaming victorians for low lockdown compliance leading to high case rates. Anyway let’s wait and see.

Lockdown ends in Melbourne at 70% double dosed, predicted for 26 October. It's good to have some certainty, now we can all focus on getting ourselves vaccinated and convincing anyone we know on the fence and get us out of this asap.

ABC is reporting that Victoria will be 70% double dosed by 18 November. Need to pick up the rate.

Covidlive.com.au has 19 November for 70% double dose. It also says we hit 70% first dose on 17 September, that date plus six weeks is 29 October, so hopefully it's more like that. https://covidlive.com.au/vic

The Guardian's vaccine tracker projects 31 Oct - 8 Nov for 70% double dose. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/datablog/ng-interactive/2021/sep/17/covid-19-vaccine-rollout-australia-vaccination-rate-progress-how-many-people-vaccinated-percent-tracker-australian-states-number-total-daily-live-data-stats-updates-news-schedule-tracking-chart-percentage-new-cases-today

They got this one mostly wrong too. I'm happy to admit that. Roadmap was more hopeful than I expected. Projections of 68% chance of 2500 hospitalisations mid December is scary. But Andrews seems to have ignored Sutton and is all in just like Gladys.

Personally I was planning on leaving Victoria mid October for NSW but now I'll stay a bit longer

He didn't ignore Sutton.  He gave everyone of the journos the full unredacted Burnett report which is what is from the national cabinet.

I know, I read it and I just think the prospect of that many cases and deaths as projected would have Sutton locking down for longer.
And this article backs up my theory. Sutton wanted to keep schools closed longer but Merlino and other Vic cabinet ministers overruled him:

Roadmap was more hopeful than I expected

Thats because you have lowered your expectations

It was said today that 80% double vaxx for everybody over 12 is the end. Its done. We're open. No more. But then also only 30 allowed in the house at Christmas (in the last step). Second last step of 500 outdoors (what does that mean for sport), no rights for the unvaccinated, and the pet favorite of health officials face masks will be all indoor settings - but no indication these restrictions will end in the final step given the cap of 30

Is that life for the next 3-5 years? 10 years? Is that us as a species from here on out?

NSW is going to leave Victoria for dead in terms of quality of life, not just over the next 2 or 3 months, but also into next year. Life in Victoria is going to be worse than what we were given November last year with 0% vaccinated. In terms of ongoing and long lasting restrictions these are the worst we have seen

As I said, I'm glad our election is next November because 4 years of whatever the alternative is wont be as bad as 4 years of hiding from COVID
