+xLyden starting against Man City in the cup. He conceded a penalty which was saved. Quite a gulf in class, but to be expected.

Incredibly out of the blue for Francois to start and it's against a tricky opponent away. Perhaps it's to boost his shop window presence.

Ogle on the bench against Dougall. Bilokapic has been subbed on for Huddersfield because the starting GK got injured. Lots of Aussies to watch on 10 Play app now!

Borrello scored in a friendly, wearing a full face mask. Texas chainsaw stuff. 24th minute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQpD7jahbNc
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

As harsh as it may be hopefully the first choice keeper if injured for a bit of time so bilokopic can get more game time. Huge if he gets starts in championship at his age

I watched the game on 10 play, which was awesome - they had all of the FA cup games on at the same time. Francois was playing CDM & played pretty well I thought. Great to see him back

Riley McGree signed by Celtic in £3M deal.
Will this the restart of Euro teams paying multi £M for Aussie talent, or a one-off?

+xRiley McGree signed by Celtic in £3M deal. Will this the restart of Euro teams paying multi £M for Aussie talent, or a one-off? Depends. If he 'makes it' and is seen as a success and other aussie players also come along then yes... shame that Celtic were already well covered at RB as Atkinson would have been a great buy. We are already well covered at DM too not to need Metcalfe. Possibly Tilio could command a decent fee from a Euro club. Certainly a different landscape now to when say Feyenoord bought Emerton and put him straight into the 1st team. Imagine that happening now. For a split second it looked like Brilliante was going to do it after a barnstorming preseason with fiorentina only to be brutally subbed at halftime in the first match of seaspn, never to be played again lol

The treatment of Brillante was disgusting. I thought of something similar recently but can't recall exactly but it was reminiscent. He did well in pre season and while the league isn't the same, the massive knee jerk like that destroyed him. Plenty of debuts go the same but they'll get 30 chances in a season and do little yet still somehow remain at a decent club.

It feels a bit like a second coming of the 90s with these Australians going to Scotland and being unknown and giving the fans some joy. Moore, Muscat and I remember even Danny Invicinble was often mentioned for scoring on TWG. Who have I missed?
At the same time Scotland have been producing better players the last 6 years or so and it's really kicking on well now. It's feels like a decent reciprocal relationship like in the 90s with Scottish fans being very fond of the Australian players in the league.
I think a lot of the anti SPL sentiment was right around when Rogic was our most skilled on the ball for a long time suffering under Delia and Lennon and the SPL was also having some trouble without Rangers. Now there are a number of clubs who are in with a fighting chance every weekend and all that hard word across the system has come to fruition. Kudos to that.
