+x+xLol at the fact that he isn’t even good enough for the Belgian second division. Think it’s time we gave up on him He’s starting the match…so I fail to see how he “isn’t even good enough” for that league? I hope he finds his form. I think he has about 12 months before European opportunities dry up without match minutes and solid performances - meaning goals and assists- not just minutes on the park. 4 career goals is miles away from real winger and striker stats. If he doesn't feature in WC qualifiers and the 2022 WC (if we go) he will, IMO be officially another failed 'next big thing, and this disappoints me greatly. He is already 23 and the list of teams and actual games don't really look great. But we all know he has talent and The Socceroos need him to be at his best. It is up to him now to prove to the football world he has all the aspects of a pro. Daniel Arzani - Detailed stats | Transfermarkt

He got dragged after 50 or so minutes and I believe has scored once (maybe twice) this season playing as a striker. As grimaud said on Zappa’s pod his attitude is poor. That’s why Utrecht got rid of him.

When you look at his wiki page you realize he really hasn’t played 90 mins much at all. Definitely needs to come back to the a league

It sucks because I want him to do well so much but it’s at a point where you can’t be a promising player forever. It’s about time to start performing and he just hasn’t done it

100% THIS ^^^ He shows glimpses of ability- at Olympics he provided brilliant through ball to Mcgree- and a great solo run and strike v Egypt- his last goal for Lommel was classy touch and finishing- but just not consistent enough. At Socceroos game there were times when I couldn’t help think Arzani was needed to create something in front 3rd with Rogic and Jmac instead of say Leckie (who just can’t perform 1v1 imo) Another failure SO FAR at least 🙁

If it’s Arzani’s cocky attitude holding him back, I really hope his next club move is somewhere with a tough manager who can knock him down a few pegs to hopefully bring the best out of him.
In the A-League at the moment it’s really only Popovic who offers that so I hope he ends up at Victory.

i think what grimaud said was ridiculous. the fact is he was playing at celtic and at a world cup aged 19 which is the highest level of any australian 19 year old since maybe harry kewell, and that all ended because of a torn ACL and complications from that. you can't get to that level at that age if you have a bad attitude. also for grimaud, who takes issue whenever his players are rightly criticised (which i understand), to bag a 23 year old player's attitude based on a story from when said player was 14-15, is unprofessional in my opinion.

This is his first full season back. In the Olympics and in the friendlies he was very error prone and second guessing himself. I just think the way that he plays he needs to build confidence which may take a couple seasons.

Context is important, whether he has a bad attitude or not he would not have made a World Cup spot or even got on the plane at the Olympics to begin with. He's very talented as we know, could we know something else is going on outside of football that could be affecting he's confidence to perform? Who knows. After all its not easy to live in Europe by yourself unless hes without close family.

NT football does not equate to a professional career of week in week out football matches. Arzani is yet to be a fully embraced first XI player in any of the clubs that he has been signed with. This is alarming and not consistent with a personality that blends well with other players and managers. He has already received the kudos of his early 'prodigy' years and it has not resulted in a solid consistent form at club level. If he has to have a pat on the head which reminds him that he is 'special' to get him to perform (like in a NT setup with coaches who love him) at club level then it is not going to happen. Arzani-esque player traits are a dime a dozen in Europe. This is my perspective and I want him to prove me wrong.

So its no disaster after doing an acl. He probably won't be back to his best for a couple of years, by then he will add physical and mental maturity to his technical qualities I hope

+xJoel king signs with odense BK Congrats to him and wish him all the best. If he gets game time, then LB will have to be our most stacked position (kinda funny when you think back to having to use McKay and Carney). Joel King is a perfect example of what game time can do for a young kid. I think we all pretty much agree that King is a solid youngster but not a great talent (compared to Gersbach for instance), but managed to get lots of game time at 19-20 off the back of Zullo’s injury. Now, he’s up for a move to a solid league to start at in Europe.

Arzani is thankfully getting them now but then they won't always translate into good form or success but it's definitely the fundamental to go up through the levels. Looking at Antonis and Gersbach I can't believe how much game time they missed due to silly decisions. Pasquali too. Now we see Folami, D'Agostino and up until recently DWH doing well with the minutes they get.

Alot of those that left early haven't set the world on fire and the ones that have banked a couple of seasons here as a minimum have benefited. I think sometimes the aleague gets under valued which is a shame, the only thing missing is more games of course but its helps our players alot when getting that experience.

No Iredale for Wiesbaden. A weird one as he scored twice in one of their very few winter break practice games against and Belgian first division side. He also scored very early against Victoria Berlin in a rare league start. I guess it's the packed forward list Wiesbaden has with their permanent players and no injuries and he's a loan so less of a priority.
He's like D'Agostino where his name pops up with goals on my app regularly. Coming back from an ACL like Arzani too. I anticipate Paderborn will loan of release him in summer.

Atkinson and Devlin starting.
Dougall starting vs Fulham but no Francois. No Wright or Elder. JRB back to bench and Burgess still bench for Ipswich. Iredale starting as is Luongo.
