Can we do something about the quote button??
Perhaps add a 'quick quote' button. Just, do something so that it only quotes the most recently said thing in a post and excludes things in a quote box so that people will stop quoting EVERYTHING in a post and we don't have to scroll through the same thing being said five or six or ten bloody times on a page with all the infantile 'quote and respond' people on here.

Or, just copy and paste what you want and wrap it in quote tags?
Its a pretty hard thing to implement I would think.

But getting these infantile monkeys to DO that is pretty bloody difficult too.
I don't think it's taht hard. Webby just has to implement 'if' and 'if not' commands to good effect and make it so that if there's a quote box it only takes what's not inside quote tags. If I could remember exactly how to do it I'd write the coding myself.

I have a feeling that for many here, 442 is the only forum they visit on the interwebz. They obviously don't understand forum etiquette. Personally I don't think additional coding is required. People just need to be a little more smarter about things is all.
Like, quoting a pic that is the post directly before yours. Whats the point?

Sometimes you want multiple quotes. Its when people decide to quote an entire post which is the one preceding theirs when it gets annoying.
I just noticed that Afro did just that

Or, how about a "reply" as well as a "quote" button. Reply would respond to everything outside a posts' quote tags (ie. only a person's response to a quote), whereas the quote button just copies everything in a post?

Sounds simple enough to implement...

One thing that I think should DEFINITELY be done is put Quick Reply in a black button at the top right. As it is, I think most casual users of the forum overlook the red, un-underlined, hyperlink.

This too can become a pain in the ass though.

soccerpulse did something like what you suggest but it can get a little messy. I think its as good as its gonna get and it should be left as it is.

Another forum I go to has the quick quote as a separate box at the bottom of the page. So you click the 'QR' button, like the quote button, and it unlocks that text box. They also have a multi-quote button, which allows you to click as many replies as you want, and then quotes each one, so you can reply to multiple quotes at once easily.

I do that when there's another person viewing the topic at the same time as me incase they post before I do and then think I'm talking to them in my response. It cuts down confusion.
But people quoting quotes within quotes within quotes is just annoying.

That's fine funky, but you need to remember that this forum is full of people that haven't graduated to opposable thumbs yet...It would be confusing for them.

A quick quote button taht just quotes anything outside of a quote box in a post is the way to go IMO.

So we should have to constantly scroll through the same comment five or six or so times on the one page just to read a one-line response at the bottom of the page?

I just scrolled from the top of the page, down to read your post. It took me 2 seconds. That's it. And that's because I slowed it so i could see where I was up to.

It's not the scrolling that Im concerned about, it's the having to visually scan through the same crap several times over.... as you scroll down.

Ellipsis. And fixed. If you're that tired, go to bed rather than trying to prove yourself with the big boys.

I meant ellipsi as like plural. Not saying it was right just think it may have gone under your radar. (though youd never admit it)

The second half of that comment is so lame I dont need to dissect and label it to make it shine badly on you. Its already embarrassing enough as it is.
