i think goal line tech can stay and 'clear' offsides - none of this lines and 5mins to make a decision BULLSHIT if you can 100 percent say it is offside on 1st glance then dont call it to VAR otherwise im with you VAR has made the game worse Refs dont have the balls to make the right decision when anything is called back for VAR

You do wonder if the APL made a mistake by choosing to implement VAR in its competition .. .

+xYou do wonder if the APL made a mistake by choosing to implement VAR in its competition .. . David Gallop introduced VAR to the A league, not the APL FFS. https://adelaideunited.com.au/news/hyundai-a-league-first-use-video-assistant-referees

Remember when Bozza used to say this with almost every farcical VAR decision? I agree it should go, and maybe replace some of those ‘officials’ in the process.

+xSo the FA force the APL to use it ? The funny thing is , you' d think the APL could have actually saved money by not using it , but they have chosen to implement it ... What was the APL thinking ??

Are you never going to whinge about a ref ever again? Said this on another thread. Valid here. Sure scrap it but then publicly flog any coach, pundit, commentator, fan or player that bags out a referee for a decision that was wrong based on TV replays..
VAR was brought in because coaches, pundits, commentators, fans and players whinged constantly about the fact that 'we have TV cameras, why don't we use them'.

VAR is a direct result of peanuts not being able to accept that referees are not robots and sometimes get decisions wrong Whinged and moaned long and hard here, on Facebook, with your mates, on twitter? You're directly responsible. You, along with every other clown, are responsible for VAR being implemented.

I agree Muz - but did u see Red card from Macarthur v Sydney? EDIT: I misunderstood what I was supposed to be looking at. Text below refers to the penalty Sydney were given at the 12 minute mark. Apologies. I only saw the one angle on the highlights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0b6-EC0IHM Key consideration here would be did he change his line to block the Sydney bloke's run. Did he? (I can't tell from the highlights.) But in any case if the ref calls it and it's wrong then people have to accept that the ref got it wrong. Not bang on about it all week and be crucified and say we have 50 camera angles why don't we use them because that is exactly how we've arrived here.

EDIT: With regards to the penalty given to Sydney at the 12 minute mark. So I'm looking at the full replay on Paramount + and the ref was bang on, right behind the player and in a great position to call it. That's not to say he got it right, just that he was Johnny on the spot. Of course they don't show it from head on which would show what actually happened and whether Millar stepped into his line. So back to my whinging thing. The ref was in a great position, he was close, he saw it all unfold in front of him from 10m away, he didn't hesitate to call it and was confident and strong. So none of that matters right? He could still have been wrong BUT if you don't have VAR you have to accept the ref's call. After all he's the ref.

Similar case in Germany where Friedl from Bremen got a last man red and they refuse to accept it. He got tangled enough to which the striker was impeded of a clear goal scoring chance.

Ok I've looked at the DOGSO one where the Macarthur player gets sent and yeah he was the last man. Sydney player had control of the ball at the time they fell over. They both had their arms out so were both guilty of pushing. But when 2 players go arse up you (I would anyway) usually give the free to the player that had control of the ball so I can see why the free kick was give to the Sydney player. VAR then got involved because, I assume, they thought this was a DOGSO situation (worthy or a red) and not a SPA (worthy of a yellow). Once he was called over it was clear this was a DOGSO in which case he had to give him a red.

I'm all for the goaline tech, the rest of the game was perfectly fine for me - the wrong decisions and all part of the game but no because of tech we never had we had to use it right, Thank the Dutch introducing it originally, I bet IF Cruyff was still around he'd say I told you so https://www.sport.es/en/news/futbol/johan-cruyff-predicted-the-controversy-var-would-bring-16-years-ago-7069169Sure you get pissed a Ref or lino made the wrong call but thats how it went, you win some you lose some, trouble is you have these idiot supporters who take wrong decisions too far abusing officials let alone on SM today. Funnily nothing has changed regards to the anger/abuse.

Funnily nothing has changed regards to the anger/abuse. Yeah exactly. That's the thing, nothing has changed as far as incorrect decisions or the abuse of refs. In some ways it's made it worse coz now the ref has made that decision with 5 minutes thinking time holding up the game and still has to call a 50/50 decision as not all rules are black and white. You used to be able to excuse a call saying the ref had a split second to make a decision at least.

Paint it like you want, no one can PROVE to me they are not cheating. After all, its a crook behind the screen up in the box, goes home, puts his hand out and gets paid. I dont care how it sounds. Infact new theme every week...which game will VAR spoil and cause it to become an anticlimax? Usually its the bigger matches like derbies. I'll place a lobster ($20) this week on, Victory vs Jets, although, it could be Brisbane vs Sydney. Think about your hard earnt! McBulls supporters were robbed last match.
