Paul's entire multi is centred around proving that things were better under Lowy. Every post where he painstakingly puts extra spaces between each word is leading to his dream where somebody says "you were right Paul", as though that'll make everything right in his world.

So the answer is he doesn't "expect" anything. He wants the crowds to be poor. When the crowd numbers are positive he disappears like the cockroach he is.

Nope, not saying that.
When you have conservatives like Beau Busch, Danny Townsend etc, lusting over the prospect of keeping the football code as a closed salary capped league, long live Afl etc.
I heard Busch on a podcast recently, pretty much focussed on Matildas and Socceroos and his desire in keeping the A Leagues Mens as is.
He despises anything to do with a NSD, he is the disruptor of the AAFC, the enemy of Nick Galatas, without question!
if things are kept stagnant as a football model in this country, as Beau pretty much said, 'keep on the same path and it will fix itself.'
Beau said 'if we had 13 teams, then we can try and get a 14th team up to A League standard, then one day a 15th team. So, at that slow kind of progress, in 125 years we might actually have 25-30 teams all viable and ready to be involved over two competitions (A League and NSD). Football cannot go forward with a frozen business acumen like that! What a non visionary, what a wanker!
We all know football's best version of itself: NSD, EXPANSION & DROP THE COST FOR YOUTH PLAYING AT HIGHER LEVELS!
Higher domestic youth levels than who? The levels are higher at youth levels overseas as well because they are done better. Also, Wank Utd need to have that training ground next season or get expelled for a Canberra or Gold Coast Utd team.
In all. the crowds will actually disappear. Have Victory play itself. Wanderers have two/thirds of they're fan base dissipated. Regional teams got no money as usual.
Radical surgery is needed now if the weekly crowds are going to average anything over 10k per week!!

I should hope so. With last seasons cramped schedule with midweek games, the averages were pretty low.

The big concern is what is gonna happen to crowds now that WSW and SFC have been shown up as having massive deficiencies in their squads and how their fans react to that.

Fingers crossed we get a post World Cup bump.

The difference is that the NSD won't have a business model where 10k average attendances are required for success. Smaller venues mean smaller minimum averages. Where the NSD will fall over is if P&R to the AL is never implemented.

I think crowds will steadily get better this year. Sydney FC are back in the groove since relocating back to the SFS hallowed turf and a lot of A league momentum is generated by the traditional derbies, especially Sydney FC v Wanderers. They will get a big crowd at Accor stadium this weekend, hopefully the rain stays away and that will set a tone leading into the world cup.

Its important for A league crowds that the “big” clubs like Sydney, WSW and Melbourne do well, as they will always draw decent crowds when they play away from home, as opposed to a successful but spiritually bankrupt club like Melbourne City who no one cares about.

The A league, although better this year, still feels a bit out of sync. Roar and dolphins stadium hasnt really worked out, they probably need to get back to Suncorp for a bit. Western United is a massive drag with their lack of home base. Perth are away from home until their stadium is upgraded. Wellington is doing better but their stadium is still and eye sore.

Some positive signs but still work to do.

Well that’s why a second division won’t work. To many fickle fans.

MCG, whatever fans there is in NPL/NSD land they are the die hard regular supporters, fickle I wouldn't call them that.
As mentioned its not about the metrics - some that will be in the NSD own their facilities - in the big picture they get their act together and run a better business gain more sponsership they actually should do ok once its all settled in.
someguyfc I don't think you can say it will fail if never getting in the AL, one they finally have to meet the NSD standards otherwise your not in, the FA will have to put in some kind of backup support way better than current working with the State Feds, 2 the Club grows local support from within its own Jnr's, will have a broadcast medium for those interested as well.
Australia Cup gave you enough insight of NPL support excl the you know what.
I really don't care to think of getting in AL, let this come and get on with it, develop players, P/R below it, it will be fine imo once its all run more professionally.

And yet all these fickle fans come out of the woodwork once a year when the Aleague circus comes to their little suburban grounds, even though they fully expect to get spanked.....  Second division may not WORK for the franchises but the rest of us have been living in forced second division hell for 18 years and were all still here :)

I disagree mate, respectfully. I thinks its quite the opposite, any rush to push the proposed NSD into the Aleague too soon will mean clubs flog themselves silly to try and win this magical golden ticket to the "top" league. 3 or 4 clubs could, I agree, make the jump tomorrow (mine included) but many others will collapse under their own head of steam if allowed.....

I think this NSD will only truly work if it is allowed, from day dot, to link organically with the NPLs and State leagues Australia wide.... 700+ clubs all at roughly the same "level" driving each other to be champions of Australia, going up and down the tables, investing, building, growing.....

One day it may very well be big enough and professional enough that the APL franchises see it as a worthy partner to link the two clearly different worlds, maybe... if it never happens I think alot of Australian football fans dont really mind. In some ways it will be immensely more appealing as a competition. Maybe not as shiny and polished and family friendly as the APL stuff but it will certainly be all about the clubs and the players and the fans..... good enough for most of us :)

I was thinking more in the long term. Let's say in two decades, there is still no opportunity for an NSD club to be promoted into the AL, I think the fans will definitely become very frustrated and vocal, especially if 2-4 new franchises are introduced into the AL after the NSD has been established.
Absolutely agree about the lower levels though. It could get complicated with all of the different NPLs and state leagues, but not impossible.

I think you will find that, if the NSD I (and many others) want is allowed develop over 20 years then no actual club will WANT an opportunity to be promoted to the Aleague. Infact it will seem more like a burden than a promotion. I agree, they key stumbling block is linking ALL the state NPLs and below buit the first part of the equation (NPL - State Leagues - Amateur leagues) is well on the way to being resolved.... Link this with a top league(s) as in NSD and possible NSD 2 in 5-10 years and then we have something to celebrate...
Aleague will always be "football but not as you know it" , lets leave the "football as you know and love it" to the clubs.

Expecting a good crowd as usual for the United vs Victory game.

Victory have apparently nearly sold out their away allocation (4 bays - from memory they get two bays on each level on the southern stand.)

Hope we can crack 5 figures and then some.
