Just goes to show how clueless he is. Picks Souttar and Rogic without any football and Degenek who's been a bit player for years, and leaves out Rowles??? Rowles was MOTM against Peru and was starring for Hearts before his injury. If he's anywhere near fit he has to be first man picked in the back four.

Just checked - Rowles returned from injury this morning and apparently contributed well to a Hearts victory when down to 10 men.
Encouraging.

but why the ansgt towards Slaters picks. Most are what many would agree with, as for Souttar/Rogic, how many other NT's have taken under done players to WC's because their choices are limited. Sure Rowles I'd put in but his squad looks familiar to many picks here barring yours or other prefs here and there.. Heck at least he put in Cummings/Kuol Atkinson as well which is everyones hope..

I am conflicted. Leckie and JMac and probably Stensness will be picked, which will be disappointing. However, it could spell the end of the Arnold reign which will be a good thing. Which should help our Asian Cup performance in 2023. What to do?????
The other thought is that with quite a few of the theoretical starting 11 coming off injuries, maybe an underdone 2022 WC will also auger well for the 2023 Asian Cup. Something like the opposite of 2006 and 2007.

Joel King is warming the bench for his club in Norway, why on earth would you pick him? If you’re going to take a nobody in Norway, would you rather not pick someone from your own domestic league? Wouldn’t that encourage players to stay here rather than try to boost their NT chances by moving to some obscure club in some obscure league? I’d even extend the same philosophy to the SPL, which is as barely as good as the A league and probably tactically and technically worse. You need adamantium shins and a solid hoof ball to make it in the SPL, which explains why some A leaguers struggle to make in that league, not because the standard is too high. Its a terrible league. Even Rangers and Celtic get belted in Europe.

+x+x+xTry outs are done. My squad yet I know Arnold will go differently. I enjoy Irankunda being mentioned. Ryan Langerak Redmayne Strain Atkinson Rowles Sainsbury Souttar Deng Wright Behich - I get Karacic also offers value. A 5th CB is needed in case Rowles or Souttar fail a late fitness test. Let's face it, Behich will start every game and I'd rather take the risk of putting Goodwin or even Strain there in order to fill up space in the squad. I see I contradict myself there with Strain, Atkinson, Deng, Wright and Leckie all being able to fill in at right back. Mooy Irvine Hrustic McGree Devlin Metcalfe Rogic - I don't see how Arnold could put faith in someone like Baccus to start compared to Rogic. Rogic is in due the more starting potential. Rogic's best games have often come after a spell. Hrustic and McGree have the versatility that it's a headache how to use them. Dougall just isn't part of Arnold's thinking unfortunately. Boyle Leckie Kuol Cummings Taggart Mabil Goodwin Arzani Taggart is proven at international level and doesn't need much to finish a chance. Away goal vs Jordan. Created the goals vs China and had part in the Oman one. Linked up well and hit post vs Japan away and that was his last competitive game. I think the annoyance comes from his injury withdrawals. Maclaren has been tried and tested. The year is 2022 and Duke is leading our line. Great guy but no thanks. Arzani can beat the man. Leckie is on massively borrowed time.
No JMac is big call! Duke has always given his all but 2nd division striker at a WCup is just insane. Would love to see Arzani in Qatar but don’t think he’s done quite enough sadly. But As long as Kuol and Cummings get some minutes there is way more hope of open play goal/s I know my preferences won't be what we see on Tuesday. Ahh Maclaren, how I dream he does start in a WC game and scores. One can dream. Can't argue with Duke's passion but I just thing Cummings and Taggart and the ones with the better chance of putting one away if at all. One thing Duke is superior than the rest of strikers is in the air. One chance one goal that is what we need.

Sounds like he contributed well enough.

Joe King sitting on the bench in Denmark in relegated team. If Arnie pick him over Davidson should set a bad standard to the rest of the players. Australia media saying his strength is the defence but OB fans think his weakness is his defence.

Is McGowan out of the picture already?? He is rock solid at RB in Scotland. Very experienced player with fantastic defence ability.

He did nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that other defenders wouldn't have done. I watched the game. Don't believe everything you read on forums. You of all people should know that with your participation on the Talk Celtic forum.

+xrather play no strikers. than taggert or maclaren Hey TSF, I get where you are coming with in respect of MacLaren. Based on what I have seen, Cummings is streets ahead of him. Perhaps even Dukes is better value than a one dimensional Hibs reject.

I’ve been arguing against Kuol, but not after watching the full game on Saturday night. This kid is truly something special.

+xrather play no strikers. than taggert or maclaren Fair enough. I remember in interview a journalist asked Arnold about JMac and he actually said ‘i pick jamie because he is the top scorer in A league’ - not because he consistently plays well for NT and has good success for Roos etc. many of us know just because his record is good at club level doesn’t mean he is valuable to Roos squad Really hope ALL the players I always doubt prove me wrong in Qatar: JMac, Duke, ‘headless chook’ Irvine, Leckie, King, Tilio, Behich
