+x+xThe Langerak decision is justice. The dude rejected his country when we needed all the help we could get during the most intense WCQ ever, and watched as actual dedicated Socceroos pushed through for their country. After all the hard work was done, this pea heart says “Ooh I’m ready to come out of retirement now as I’d really like to play at the World Cup! 😃” Fuck off with that shit. As a multi millionaire professional athlete, his excuses for retirement were poor when the rest of the squad, including other Japan-based players, were prepared to do what it takes for their country.
I am so stoked that we haven’t been so weak to allow the national team shirt to be tarnished by letting people like Langerak pick and choose when they’d like to play for the national team. I’ve said previously that I’d enjoy a similar stance on JMac & Leckie, but they only turned down a couple of games, whereas Langerak turned down an entire WCQ cycle.
Langerak made his bed. He only has himself to blame. You pick your best for the WC unless there is some extra-ordinary reason not to. That isn't it. There is more to it than talent, you need to balance squad cohesion

I have watched Nagoya Famous because of Langarak. I haven't seen any outstanding games from him yet. He wasn't Courtois. So what such a big deal? Maybe I don't get excited he is going to the world cup or not cuz I'm the only one who watch him lolz.

Langerak made his bed. He only has himself to blame. It's evident to me that the only reason why Arnold is picking Vukovic is so his bum chum CCM can get the 10'000 compensation FIFA give are giving to clubs per day, same goes with Cummings as there is zero point to him being there. You're either a troll, or Adam Taggart in disguise. Cummings ought to be first picked right now, as anyone with half a football brain ought to know. I guess you must be Cummings dad. Cummings has spent most of his career in British lower leagues comes to the A-league scores a few goals and you all think his god's gift to football. Why not pick someone like a D'agositno, Arzani, Tilio who are younger, better and will probably be used in the side in the future. Getting real sick of the CCM fanboys, there a mid-table A-league team, half the squad can't be made up of players from there.

Langerak made his bed. He only has himself to blame. Everyone entitled to their opinion but I couldn't disagree with this stance any more. Langerak has valid and genuine reasons at a very difficult time with extremely burdensome quarantine restrictions requirements and was upfront with his reasons unlike others! By far our most highly credentialed goalkeeper in last 5 years.

I’d say the Langerak decision possibly has something to do with the $350k compensation Mariners will get for taking Vukovic instead. While Langerak is a decent keeper he’s unlikely to get minutes, and Vukovic until only recently was playing at a higher level than the j league. We don’t lose much by taking Vuko over Langerak, and Mariners get a hefty windfall for the trouble.

Let's see if Rogic is picked...a player that just walked away with no excuse and has hardly had a kick in a year.

Just have to be honest with yourself if he was any good, he wouldn't have come to the A-league as someone who is fully Scottish.

God I hope its not the case and Arnie's selections are based on which clubs get paid the player compensation bonus... :(

He plays well with Kuol at CCM. He played well (and they both prospered) at HIBS with Boyle. Boyle and MacLaren did not combine well at HIBS. He also has an Australian mother and his brother lives in Australia.

I'd say he made big sacrifices already for the team., for zilch reward. I always thought of Mitch as a great 'shot-stopper' but less so as a 'sweeper-keeper' - which we will need given the amount of defence we will be doing and the injuries at CB we are carrying into the tournament. Surely he has progressed in that area over the years - though I must admit I haven't watched him. J-League keeper of the year suggests he can't be doing too much wrong. Did the sports scientists chat to him? Does the 6-0 against France still haunt him? When was the decision made and by whom? He didn't get game time against NZ. Was that when the decision was made. Whatever the reasoning he has claim to be our best keeper at the moment - nailed on as one of the best two. With an injury cloud hanging over Maty it seems a very strange decision.

Genuine question: has JMac ever combined well with anyone (apart from himself)?! Always seems like a 1 man band to me

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xThe Langerak decision is justice. The dude rejected his country when we needed all the help we could get during the most intense WCQ ever, and watched as actual dedicated Socceroos pushed through for their country. After all the hard word was done, this pea heart says “Ooh I’m ready to come out of retirement now as I’d really like to play at the World Cup!
Getting real sick of the CCM fanboys, there a mid-table A-league team, half the squad can't be made up of players from there. i wouldnt call the spl and the championship lower leagues. Cummings career breakdown: SPL - 54 games - never more then 18 in a season, 14 goals Scottish championship - 150 games, 77 goals English league 1 - 82 games, 19 goals English championship - 17 games, 4 goals A-league - 26 games, 13 goals So that approx 80% of his games at Scottish championship, league 1 or A-league level were 85% of his goals have come from. Even in the a league it feels like a significant percentage of his goals come from pouncing on defensive mistakes.

Absolutely they are valid reasons but someone like Danny Vukovic who has a sick son managed to make the sacrifice and its not right that then he would miss out. Langerak has made a family decision which is fine, but he has to live with his decision. He cant have it both ways Well it did travel for what seemed like ten years to sit on the bench nearly every game - even the dead ones. I'd say he made big sacrifices already for the team., for zilch reward. Its a bit of a unique situation due to COVID though with players missing out on 2 weeks with their family post games (something langerak didnt do). Post world cup i think he shoild come back, and potentially be first choice. But i dont think this time around its very fair to the other players. You run the risk of resentment running through the squad if he plays this tournament too.

Hal the Socceroos squad came through Mariners lol Duke, Sains, Ryan, Rogic, probably even more. They clearly know how to bring talent through.

They left us at the most crucial time possible. At least langerak gave warning and didn't leave as at the last second. Their actions were potentially and arguably more self absorbed.

I am not entirely sure who our best overall is...but without a doubt - the best we have over the last year or so and playing the most is Langerak.

Whoever is chosen, I'm just glad we are there, hopeful that we will get out of the group, but realistically hoping that we perform well and at least score a few goals.
With a year to the Asian Cup there will be a further refresh of the squad and there is some bright young talent coming through.

Your last point @ pat jennings is what worries me. if Ryan is out - who next? I think even Sydney FC fans would be afraid of the prospect of Redmayne between the sticks against france

Do we know yet if press conference will be streamed or televised, or is team just going to be dumped on the Socceroos Twitter account?
