+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xI think it says it all that the anti-arnie crowd are focusing on the Langerak omission. Just shows how little they have to criticise him for with the squad he's picked. Hit the nail on the head. This is a fantastic squad and it’s killing these haters, so they focus on what little they can. How sad for them. Are you serious? He's left out our best player since kewell, viduka and cahill. How do you know he was "left out"? Last time he was called up he refused and just a few months ago it looked like his career was over. Rogic was always going to be a maybe and given he's played one game this season I'm hardly surprised. he's played 4 at least. He's fit enough now to be playing. Nothing has come out yet to say he declined so as far as im concerned im goign to assume he wasnt selected until told otherwise. Imagine how much better our squad sheet would look with Rogic, Arzani and Volpato. (And Lyndon Dykes for that matter but that's another Arnold fuckup). Lol Arzani? You can't be serious ffs As a keen defender of Arnold and his squad, how can you justify selection of Joel King?! Has played just 14 minutes of senior football since August, and 292 minutes in total for season. Meanwhile Gersbach playing for Grenoble has over 1000 minutes for season and misses qatar!? What does that have to do with Arzani balin ffs Can’t answer that question then? Thought as much Why are you grilling me about Joel King? When have I mentioned him or any other in his position? You and Bowden always defending Arnold so asking you why Arnold chose Joel King when most Roos followers agree it’s a crazy choice? Neither of us are claiming that Arnie or this squad is perfect in every way. We’re simply highlighting that, overall, it’s a great squad and the overly-negative reactions you’re seeing from a lot of fans are unjustified considering there’s really only a few minor talking points overall, and he’s made a lot of brave decisions that a lot of people have been screaming out for that he’s not getting credit for. This exactly. The squad isn't perfect but when the most perplexing omission is the second choice goalkeeper spot, that's saying something. Some people are just perpetually outraged at him. But because his idiosyncrasies we wont see the best of Australia at this world cup, and in all probability its going to be a rough couple of weeks. We could be coached by Guardiola with YOUR best 11 and this would still hold true. If this is the squad Arnie thinks will follow instructions and make the most of this opportunity then so be it. Since 2014 I have not gone into a WC expecting more than a point (at best) but I'll still be riding the edge of my seat against France hoping for a dodgy penalty1-0 win with 0 shots on target vs 37 pretty much buddy I agree. Fancy having Pep trying to get then play his game, or Kloppy lol...... Ok they might consider the Chosen One's PTB ! and it still will get blown out of the way. LOL your shots figure is very likely - hopefully most off target :)

+xMitch Langerak was a shock World Cup fall guy, in order to make Socceroos captain Mat Ryan feel as “unthreatened as possible”.That’s the belief of former Socceroos goalkeeper Clint Bolton, who was stunned with star gloveman Langerak’s omission, particularly after he came out of international retirement in September at the request of national coach Graham Arnold. Ryan, and A-League pair Andrew Redmayne and Danny Vukovic – all disciples of Socceroos goalkeeper coach John Crawley – were the three custodians named in Australia’s 26-man World Cup.The choice of Central Coast Mariners veteran Vukovic over Langerak was considered by many as a huge surprise, with the latter having had another stellar season for Japanese top-flight club Nagoya Grampus. Such form had many calling for Langerak to become Australia’s first-choice gloveman at the expense of Ryan, whose move to Danish outfit FC Copenhagen from Spain has failed to secure the first-team football he was searching for.“ The only thing that makes any sort of sense in my mind, and I’m stretching to find a reason, is it’s about making Maty Ryan feel as unthreatened as possible,” Bolton said.“ Is that right or wrong? I don’t know … but if ‘Arnie’ has decided that Maty Ryan’s his number one keeper, then he is within his rights to make sure that Maty has the best tournament he can possibly have.“ Maybe the decision’s been made around leaving Mitch out to keep that goalkeeping department as harmonious as possible, because they all work well together – ‘Vuka’, ‘Redders’ and Maty. “It’s a cohesive unit, and it’s a really unthreatening environment in a lot of ways for Maty.” FFS South Park Sarcastaball levels If that's the case then it's an appallingly bad decision. Aside from being anti-meritocratic, it is basically a self-evident explanation of why Ryan should be on the bench and why Langerak should be in goals. Feeling as 'unthreatened as possible'. FFS

+xThe Langerak decision is justice. The dude rejected his country when we needed all the help we could get during the most intense WCQ ever, and watched as actual dedicated Socceroos pushed through for their country. After all the hard work was done, this pea heart says “Ooh I’m ready to come out of retirement now as I’d really like to play at the World Cup! 😃” Fuck off with that shit. As a multi millionaire professional athlete, his excuses for retirement were poor when the rest of the squad, including other Japan-based players, were prepared to do what it takes for their country.
I am so stoked that we haven’t been so weak to allow the national team shirt to be tarnished by letting people like Langerak pick and choose when they’d like to play for the national team. I’ve said previously that I’d enjoy a similar stance on JMac & Leckie, but they only turned down a couple of games, whereas Langerak turned down an entire WCQ cycle.
Langerak made his bed. He only has himself to blame. Sorry Bowden. You're entitled to your opinion but this is absolute nonsense and based on a confused (and somewhat toxic) perception of the obligations of elite sports people. Mitch Langerak and Tom Rogic don't owe the NT anything. Representing your country in sport is a privilege. It's not a right. But nor is it a duty. The are people working in professions which are immeasurably more important to society than playing for their country in football. In the most extreme cases, some of these people save lives. E.g. healthcare workers, social workers, fireys, other emergency services personnel, armed forces personnel. Others, such as supermarket workers, public transport drivers, are so crucial to society. Their work is also considerably more important to society than playing for NT. Supposing these people with more essential work are going through a rough patch, mentally or emotionally? Or perhaps they just want to be with their family more? Must they simply work through it manfully?? Are these people allowed to take a break?? Of course, they can. Are they allowed to retire and then come back?? Absolutely. If these people are forced to work no matter what, it results in poor mental health outcomes (possibly in combination with other external factors). In the worse case, these outcomes can be tragic. So, should they be punished as a result of taking a break?? Absolutely not. Why then is it all right to punish a person (in a far less important job)? The implication of what you've said "Langerak made his bed", is that it's perfectly reasonable to punish a person for taking a break (or retiring). That's utterly absurd and, I reckon, contrary to the wisdom of the vast majority of mental health clinicians. As I say, representing the NT isn't a duty. Langerak and Rogic don't owe the NT anything. Similarly, the coaching staff don't owe Langerak or Rogic anything. But if they're the best people for the job, they should be picked. Simple as that.

FFS That's Bolton's opinion to which he is entitled to give but no-one really knows if that is true.Really if Langerak had made himself available for the qualifiers and if he had been given game time everyone would be in a better position to judge his worth as an international keeper.I know some forum members have access to J League games so would have seen him play and be up to date with his form but most of us have no idea how good he is.I know Covid made travel difficult for him but it was so for man I haven't seen Ryan make too many terrible blunders in his Socceroo career especially over the last few years so he still deserves the No 1 position -our performance at the WC will be be determined how well the field players perform not the GK.

If Kuol doesn't get a run in each match Arnold needs to be dragged out into the desert and left there. Such a good hit by the young bloke. Fearless. Oh, this is going too wide. Nah, reckon I'll just smack fark out of it into the roof of the net.

Martin Boyle will not participate in this year’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ tournament after he succumbed to a knee injury. As a result, Melbourne City FC winger Marco Tilio will come into the squad.
Good luck Tilio. A decent replacement. I can't help but feel our scoring chances have diminished.
