They then asked Simon about the crowd numbers, he fired back saying "why doesn't the NRL fill their stadiums? considering they get all the media coverage." The SEN guy started back tracking and Simon just had enough and said he is sick of being asked about crowds. Then went on to stay soccer does not get the coverage it deserves considering there's a world cup around the corner. The callers then started coming in to say the NRL was "TV game" and that they dont care for crowds. A soccer bloke then called up and asked whats the tv viewing rights on the Rugby League world cup and how do they compare to the soccer World cup? SEN then went and changed the subject lol I have also noticed that the SEN guys seem to treat anything soccer related as a joke and they never take the presenter seriously that is informing them of weekend scores.. etc. Its not until the main guy tells them "hey they actually sponsor us" that they change to be more respectful. Why is the A-League sponsoring these idiots? We had a Melb. equivalent of the above incident yesterday:  The presenter in question was Simon O'Donnell, BTW. Clownish comments like his really come from a deep sadness and jealousy that afl and cricket jocks will never have their favorite sports on a massive stage like the fifa world cup, or the EPL 😆 even the tour de france has a bigger global audience than cricket and afl 👏
You can understand if the clowns were from AFL, some of those commentators really think AFL is a huge game, not just a huge game in 4 states & that's it!!!! But coming from a cricket commentator, who has traveled the world & knows how big football is worldwide is very surprising. However Simon O'Donnell only played a handful of games for Australia, so maybe he didn't travel that much. That's the difference between NRL and AFL blokes though. NRL blokes might give soccer a bit of (generally good natured) stick but they'll watch the EPL and other sports like Union and Hockey. AFL dickheads live in a monoculture where nothing else matters. Because I know many AFL fans who also are members of Victory (mostly) and City (some), or have an EPL club they follow (typically Liverpool). There's actually a difference between the attitude of the AFL organization and the media who are connected to it and the actual fans. The issue at heart is that most of those fans' first-loyalty would still be to Aussie Rules/AFL, and as such seldom go in to bat for ⚽ in any dispute between the two. Trust me, I know firsthand all too well😔 A true melbonian will stand for the above agreed, they'd be mocked or frowned upon and on the outcast of their tribe. Majority of the fans as Enzo quotes are afl first and foremost, tell us Enz, IF their afl fixture was on similar time to their MV or MC game ? which will they attend ? Thats a "no brainer" for me mate :)

+xMost AFL players have been spotted at one time or another "at the wogball" Some are even involved in local NPL clubs as presidents, boardmembers or just proud parents of players.... Every off season you see lots of content about them visiting EPL matches, UCL matches etc... Not the ones of 'bogan' background though, especially those from the bush where literally the only sports they grew up believing existed were AFL, cricket and netball💡

Most of the bogan fans that "Hate sokkah" generally don't like anything to do with what they consider as "Un-Australian" Its got nothing to do with the actual sport down here, just the fact that "if the rest of the world (nasty effniks and wogs) likes it they should go back to their own countries and watch it there then oi, oi oi" You guys are lucky that rugby fans can at least understand that their sport is played in dozens of other countries and is not "tru-blue dinky di" like the AFL is so NRL fans and players probably see soccer as a smaller sport here in Australia and not a threat to the "Australian way of life" The actual AFL organisation is a different matter all together I agree..... they are just protecting their "turf" though so really cant blame them when our own FA shits on 99% of soccer fans in this country anyway :) I think those from the northern states mostly see what the AFL media and the AFL organization shows them and then generalize to the fan majority. Anyway this code war goes in circles - more so from the melbonites side, you'd hardly find a NSW/Qldr argue or justify afl.

+x+xI suppose the big difference is that the NRL has some sort of international league & they do visit other countries, for example the RL world cup is held in England & the final held in Old Trafford, the famous home ground of probably the most famous (not successful) team in the world, so the League media over there would understand how big football is. Whereas the AFL media wants their people to think they invented women's sport & introduced sport to China, such a bubble they are in. At least COVID seems to have put the kibosh on any more AFL o/s matches, as well as that 'International Rules' dreck vs. Ireland😆  All australian , with the national team logo , playing against who ?

O'Donnell played 24 games and kicked 18 goals between 1982 and 1983 in what was then the VFL - while also playing Cricket.. i remember him as a cricket persona.. although will say , SEN feed for Adelaide ( which is mostly out of Melbourne ) is mostly AFL , horse racing and cricket... commercial radio contracts dictate the amount of air time certain codes get triple m ( in adelaide ) is a fan of AUFC, as they were not happy with their previous deal with 5aa/1395 Nova org
