Yeh, England all over Iran, something like 70% possession, Saka and Bellingham were pretty good, but they did fall asleep at the wheel a few times. With the first goal, not sure what the issue was, but England were trying to make a few subs, and for some reason, they couldn't do it, even when the ball went out. The penalty to Iran in the final seconds of the game was a bit of a joke (especially after Kane was rugby tackled to the ground in the opening minutes of the game). The Iranian sub, the no. 9, who scored the opening goal actually got behind the defence a few times. It wasn't the greatest finish for that first goal - ball litterally went over the keeper's head, but it was a good run and he hit it pretty flush. England was good - but they had their share of sloppy passing and unforced errors as well - they would need to be sharper against quality opposition.

Speaking as an ex keeper a hit like that straight over your head is one of the hardest to save.

yer, the Lions history says the fall will come just when :) I have no hate tbh for I love the football they bring but its the supporters who turn you off like the Euro its coming home crap and manc supporters arrogance :) D2 Southgate is a 1trick pony, he's had talent galore coming through for years, Euro was his god send he needs to move on tbh for nothing else has been delivered. Avoidable defeats at Russia 2018 and Euro 2020 – not to mention the summer’s horrific Nations League relegation The player quality right now makes this all look great like Euro. Seriously IF he doesn't manage them going through deeper in this WC its a massive failure, he has 2 defensive burdons he persists with, Magoo/Shaw and of all he has Dier as back up not that you know much of these guys. Put it this way, playing against faster/smarter attack the record stands huge brain snaps/farts when under the pump, even in their EPL games. Relax with Tyler fellas, icons are icons, you blokes always expected change, their isn't many better but the few probably committed to other networks but yes he just needs a offsider to mix things up as its normally done, not sure why they haven't. By the way, I'm actually impressed he could pronounce the Iran players and made mention bits of some now and then. Besides about this only knowing more of his own breed, like any commentator be it Spanish/Italian yaddayadda.

Watching the USA Wales game now on SBS On Demand, and am disappointed to see it is only HD (720p) rather than Full HD (1080p). Gives pretty average picture quality, even though my TV is not super huge (55").
Can't believe they don't streaming in Full HD. Optus can do it, why can't SBS?

Was also disappointed to wake up to no available replays or mini matches besides useless 2 minute youtube replays. I get that it's the middle of the night but I am 99% sure 4 years ago the Optus replays etc were up almost instantly

Enjoy it while you can, Its looking like the last WC for a while on FTA or not locked behind a streaming service.... I agree that SBS's production this year seems pretty threadbare. No representation overseas apart from a cameraman, Martin Tyler and what sounds like the work experience kid on audio .... BTW can someone tell the stadium announcers in Qatar to turn their farkin mics down its deafening whenever they announce subs or goals or whatever.

Im 99.99% sure my phone app still only had Day 1 mini match and highlights as in only the Qatar game

My observation was the Qatar game first had the highlights then imminently full replay in Arabic. Annoyed, it took one refresh and the full replay was there around 40min after kick off. I think there's just someone pressing a button.
Anyone overseas or with VPN. Dutch NOS just works straight off the bat. Austria seems blocked. German ZDF/ARD doesn't have a lot of the 11am CET games. ITV works if you close the show description box on the left then do another refresh. BBC is fine. If the site goes blank just keep finding a UK VPN that works.

Seriously? So that AFCON ref that blew full time before regularly time was up is officiating Canada Belgium. Watch his legs wobble when he sees 12 added minutes. Have to say the number of added minutes is correct but even as a fan I get a feeling of it going on longer mentally. Gone are the thoughts at 89min that a team has almost won. Hope Saudi score first so that we see the first half go on for 20 extra mins.

Saudi with the best 11. Argentina look great also. Here's hoping Saudi can break the midfield line with the swift 3 up front.

Al Makli was always good for a tread. He's got to know putting the boot flat like that is a risk.

That penalty is criminal. Waits for the arms to be around then drops to the deck. You can see how he pulls the saudi player down with him.

Lack of composure from the GK. You can see from the run up that he won't put the boot through it. The guesses and jumps like it'll go a million miles per hour. If the GK stands still, he saves.
