+xWhistling wasn't just when the Franch were attacking just having the ball period lol....... WTF is wrong with that from your NT supporter base trying hard being the 12th man for your team especially knowing your up against it. Christ some people live in a sanitised world, D2 I know your an avid cricket supporter, what about the crowd behaviour in that game, the Barmy Army, Barmy Army usually provide a great atmosphere to any game they attend. They are not sanitised. Usually, just good fun. I'm also keen to adhere to good sportspersonship. Whistling/jeering over 90 minutes is pathetic.

+xStill think a France vs Argentina final. Was always on the cards. They are far superior than any other team. And as our luck always has it, we did have to play the best to try and advance. I think France and Argentina have played the best football in the comp, although Brazil had been good too until Croatia knocked them out. Portugal also looked good at times. I was very disappointed with the way the Netherlands played though.

Not along ago from probably about 2009 - 2017, Germany was considered to have the best development system in the world. Yet for all that success and admired football methodology, that everybody else was copying, they've struggled in recent times. As is often stated in coach education courses - things change so fast in football.

BM are fun at times but load mouthed obnoxious piss heads screaming out unsportmanslike banter many times in a game that never used to have that kind of behaviour back in the UK and here so thats not making sense. Have you enjoyed the football games when in europe ? the banter, the rude chants, whistling at the corner taker etcetc god forbid if you ever went to a Argie/Chilean and sth american games. I was at the San Siro few months ago, its tingling the supporter atmosphere by either when having the ball and fans being the 12th man.

Maybe the Bayern strangle hold of regular titles is stifling the leagues competition. As we know their dev has always been sound but interesting they are not producing any of those really X rated players of the past that really lit up in match's and domination. Sometime ago Spain Clubs used to have high number going deep in the CL, now EPL Clubs have taken over that mantle whereas Bundas Club Bayern obviously and Dortmund are regular but the rest fall away like Leipzig - no other gets much of a look in.

+x+x+x+xgreat performance by Morocco - key players out, under gunned, no star players but as a unit are tuff to beat and their coach runs them well. Shame they couldn't get 1 in for it would have really applied pressure on the French and stressed them out. Griezman is a better player sitting behind the front line as seen in the Qatar games, helps having quality players around you for he is no where as effective nowadays at Club levels. Well played LFC's Konate, he's a better CB than McGuire hands down. D2 clockwork orange see's as most do, your sugar coating imo but thats your opinion. So the expected Argies Frogs Finale. GO Messi ! International football is different from club football. Didn't Messi leave Barca, not wanting to leave? At age 35 he has been a stand out player at this World Cup. Club coaches sometimes make bad calls. Griezman has found his niche at the highest level. This is the best tournament I've seen him play - and he is suited as an AM or Number Ten. There was some terrific last line defending from France today. Konate is a world class CB. He is in the the current world champion team, France, and may have two CBs of similar quality in the team who Deschamps prefers ATM. Coaching had nothing to do with Messi leaving Barça. Barcelona was essentially drowning in debt and simply couldn't afford to pay him even at a discount without sacrificing the rest of the squad. The decision to cash in and let him go was made at the CEO level. The coach would've been happy to keep him. But this is exactly the problem with your rhetoric. You simply don't follow the world of football as closely as most of us do. Your ignorance about the club game is close to absolute and tends to cripple many of your arguments, as it's often painfully clear that you have no idea what you're talking about. In particular, your knowledge of the English league seems stuck somewhere in the mid 1990s. No wonder you think Maguire is the best CB in the world and Southgate is a wonder coach. That said, your technical knowledge is appreciated and I do enjoy reading some of your analyses. I didn't say Maguire was the best CB in the world. I said he is one of the top performing CBs in the world playing international football for England under Gareth Southgate. A sound defence is a prerequisite for any successful team. Southgate and Holland have coached it into a cohesive and compact shape when the other team has the ball. Maguire, along with Stone, is part of an effective England defensive unit. I'm also aware , as LFC elucidates, that it helps the English defensive line, having a good midfield screening the defence. In any team, the defence should start from the attacking line. The midfield line also assists the overall defensive team unit. A semi, a final and a quarter final, in the last three big tournaments is a pretty decent achievement for England. England isn't the epicentre of world football. There are six other leagues similar in quality to the EPL. I have watched a lot of European football in the past. Unfortunately, it is becoming too much like corporations playing each other - Abramovich v Glazor v Murdoch v Bezos v Musk v Sheik Mohammed (not all these guys own football clubs, but you get my drift). They just simply buy players so that a rich club can end up being barely represented by any local players. I don't expect you to understand this, but international football is the pinnacle of football where coaches can't buy players to fix a problem. For mine, international football is a purer form of football. Given the lack of success England have had in big tournaments since Alf Ramsey circa 1966-70, Southgate is a wonder coach. His results demonstrate this. Suggest any English coach between the era of Ramsey and Southgate who has had more sustained success in three successive, big tournaments? I feel through using football specific performance analysis I can evaluate players and teams without having to know what they have, or haven't done, at club level. Just because I don't know the circumstances of how Messi left Barca, does not mean I can't dispassionately evaluate him as a player in the World Cup. You continually seem to suggest that England has overachievied in the last 3 tournaments, but they really haven't. Their squad is now genuinely one of the best in the world. They should be right up there at every tournament with this team. They were unlucky to meet France so early this time, but going out in quarter finals has to be considered a disappointment and a failure. They haven't had this kind of quality all over the ground in decades. There are many coaches who'd do at least as well as Southgate with this calibre of players at their disposal. The EPL is easily the top league in the world these days. It's where the money is and where all the best players (with a few exceptions) go. You can tell by the results in the recent Euro club competitions. English clubs routinely feature in the later rounds. There are now very few continental clubs who can compete with them on a consistent basis. Real Madrid and PSG can, but beyond that, the quality falls off a cliff. Even the traditional giants like Bayern and Barcelona have fallen behind. You'd be impressed with Man City's Erling Haaland. It's a shame he couldn't drag Norway through the qualifiers. He's been sensational in the league so far, scoring at close to 2 goals per game. I hate the corporatisation of football too and also prefer the international tournaments for this reason. Club football has become sickeningly predictable and a playground of billionaire oil sheikhs. It's so soulless and boring. But it's still football, so I feel I have no choice but to follow it anyway haha.

Yes kudos to Southgate but I feel another coach would be taking them finally to THE win since '66 or any other tournament. Ancelotti for eg. Agreed International football is da best can't beat knock out tournaments hence the surprise's with so much pressure on. EPL is leagues ahead of them all now as mentioned sadly its all about the $$$$ and the divide is going to get larger now that Newcastle owned by the Saudis.....the corporatisation is sad but yes I can't not follow it also, below links says it all the money is staggering. https://www.football365.com/news/feature-transfers-biggest-spending-leagues-europe-premier-league-serie-a-bundesliga-la-ligahttps://www.statista.com/chart/28152/transfer-spending-of-european-football-leagues/https://khelnow.com/football/top-10-clubs-with-highest-net-spend-in-last-decade

Another 50 minutes like that and Argentina will be a worthy winner but... how will they stand up to the pressure?
