Mortified by what he had just witnessed, diehard Melbourne Victory fan Dimi Bourandanis feared what was to become of his club.
Spectators had just invaded AAMI Park and Bourandanis walked forlornly with fellow diehard fans, mates for life through their support of Victory, toward Swan St in Richmond.
It was the darkest moment in the league’s history.
Doomsday felt imminent.

All nine men were placed on a good behaviour bond without conviction and banned from attending sporting games for a year. Ms Falla ordered Nubacher and Stewart to contribute $1200 and $1800 respectively to the court fund, to be disbursed to welfare organisations. Theodoropoulos, Kutlu, Hadrick, Vigor, White and Rogers were ordered to pay $800 to the same fund.

I remember another A-League player being attacked by fans. In the car park, by his own fans.

+xWjy cant these sokkah blokes just bash women like the rest of the Aussie sports? Interesting that guys with no interest or love for the world game decide to write on it. Need another Del Piero, he was a walking headline that would supersede any shithousery by the other codes and their media arm.i could remember all the feel good stories about Del Piero they were so over the top and sugary but it’s what the dipshits in the media need, a focal point to write about that fits the simple ‘big European stars’ in our little league narrative.

+x+x+x+xCan never imagine a football journalist tweeting or writing about another sport's troubles. Having said that there is definitely an element of fuckheadedness amongst supporters of certain clubs. If you're bringing a balaclava to a game you're probably not the type of person we want at the matches. We can't complain when football fans give them ammunition like this. While this is true, I can think of at 3 all in brawls on the field at major local aussie rules games in melbourne where women, spectators or umpires bashed this year Which brawls are you talking about? I can't think of a single flare-related pitch invasion and an assault on a player on the field of play. That has never happened in any other sport in Australia. It's a football special. We deserve all the criticism we get. At AFL and NRL games, the worst that happens is an occasional fight between drunk bogans in the stands, and an occasional bashing after the game, but this happens in every sport all over the world and is easy to sweep under the carpet. You just can't throw metal buckets at players and referees though. That can't be excused or tolerated. Please don’t forget the AFL racism. Yep a long long list of repeated racism, threats on social media and just flat out bigotry

Football has the us vs them which is really a great thing think Tunisia vs Australia or any away match you’ve been to. The problem is thugs come in and take it to far hooligans people that probably don’t have much in life

+xI mean the NRL is embroiled in scandals on the regular I think it actually helps them dominate the media in Sydney. It's not a great look, but as least were being talked about constantly. That is one sage point. When things are going along quite well, the AL receives little mainstream media coverage.

They have happened a number of times at local aussie rules competitions.

Speaking of Nrl or Afl, it was always a wonderful experience playing League against the Redfern All blacks. Players were Indigenous to the land ofcourse.. Every tackle was assault and threats. The relatives and associates on the hill were always willing to richen the experience as well. Great times and great crowd to be around

+x+x+x+x+xSponsors and broadcasters are going to demand an extraordinarily strong response to this. I'm talking suspending Melbourne Victory from the league big. Hmm, I’m pretty sure suspending the best supported team in the league is not in the sponsors’ or broadcasters’ interests. I think you'll find that if some form of drastic action isn't taken against them (probably not suspension - more likely a big penalty including some no-crowd rounds), then there'll be sponsors leaving the league. They'll be in massive damage control right now trying to keep sponsorship on board. I think that’s more likely. It’d be ironic if Destination NSW pulled their money … aha oh man that would be a pretty funny end to this whole saga Agreed

Our isuues just keep on keeping on and typically people like nrl's Gould and I expect certain main high profile gayfl ones like putting in their 2bobs worth as well as the one eyed media. Anyway F em.

+xI read not long ago, life bans to anything football related incl local football - 19yrs and 23yr old. Alot more to come they say. They don't work mate, nobody to police them sadly. I am hearing that two of the ones involved in this latest shithousery where also involved in the Lakeside incident in 2016 where they were supposedly banned for 5 years..... https://www.9news.com.au/national/melb-victory-punished-for-fans-violence/a7b7385c-53a2-4e26-a76b-b35ad298d6bb

Anyway Nrl is an ant, Football is a giant overall. Who is Bill Gauld and why does he move the Richter scale at all? In saying that, two undisciplined morons got life bans. Who will ensure they stay out? Staff at the turnstiles are not police, and just put they're hand out to get paid and go home. Is bucket boy going to do time, who knows?

+x+x+x+x+x+xThe more I think about this, the more I think Glover is in big trouble. Throwing a lighted flare into a crowd that includes kids is far worse than hitting someone with a bin. If any fan faces criminal charges, Glover’s action will be raised as extreme provocation. Yep. My mrs saw footage and doesn’t want me taking our 7 year old daughter to AL games anymore because of flares been thrown etc (not that we ever sit in/near fanatics area behind goals- but still..) Aha seriously? I can't tell if you're just trying to tell a good story? My mrs born/raised in Norway- she attended pro football games/derbys as a kid with her Dad in Stavanger, Bergen, Oslo - they never witnessed flares and violence shit ever so why should she allow our 7 year old to be exposed to that crap here in Oz?? We didn’t attend derby Saturday cos i am pissed about apl decision- now this crap has made us not wanting to go to Melb derby in future BT, I get your wife's pov but you know thats pretty OTT, you could suffer accident/injury just walking in the carpark at Westfields (Lowys reach is everywhere lol) or any Mall you frequent with the kids. As you mentioned you sit away from the active, so have I when my 3 were younger, funny as they get older they want you sit closer as each year pass's by lol, my distance line now is far enough avoiding the beer spray at goal time lol........... I'm sure you get my drift, live long and prosper my friend with your family. Yeah i know - She’s like Lagertha mate- unwise to upset a shield maiden 😢😆⚔️ true Lagertha is your keeper ! therefore going in crowds no problemo what she worried about :)
