+x+x+xNationalism in any form can go suck a big fat Friday morning one. You are all idiots There is nothing wrong with being a nationalist, patriotic to your country, culture, faith, tradition, family etc. Globalisation & socialists on the other hand 🤢 Out of curiosity, why did you choose that logo as your profile pic when you showed up here after Glover was assaulted? Maybe I like Archery...

But do I think my nationalist, patriotic to my country, culture, faith, tradition is better than Spain or Morocco or any other country no. Do I wear a MAGA cap or a MPGA cap, no. Love the Portuguese food, the culture a little bit too traditional for me. Proud of the Portuguese sailors & navigators, they really did introduce all the different herbs & spices into Europe, but no so proud of the 'colonial' ways of raping & pillaging countries in Africa, Sth America & Asia.

Too many people "label" posters due to reactive posts in most case's taking the piss wanting to wind up certain ones up but deep down back Aussie/Roos 1st before bloodline origins, my opinion. I think its a bonus having links to other countries whereas others not the same don't understand it, WC all my fam is Roos first, Port next followed by the Azzuri/Cros. Azzuri are 2nd for me (if they ever make it back haha) Cros 3rd then Port :) robbos my wife proudly lol's that it was actually the Portugese who introduced the Poms to "TEA" - many wouldn't know this for sure mentioning how much the Portugese did sailing around the world way back then. I have an English niece staying with us & my wife asks who wants a cup of tea, I say yes, but not English tea, my wife gives me the 'F@&k off look' while my niece looks at & says what do you mean, I say we Portuguese brought tea to England & you English spoil it by putting milk in it. It's banter, while I prefer my tea black, I know my family prefers it with milk. Am I right or are they wrong who cares. We all have our little traditions, are Portuguese tarts (Natas) better than Custard Tarts (F#UK Yeh) but who really cares, national pride is one thing, wanting to go to massive passionate argument for patriotism, no way. Satying even further off track geez your team LFC really are struggling. My LFC mates are really quiet.

Bloody painful and about CR7, Mourinho being the best because they are Portugese and made alot of $$$, Benfica is best yaddayaddayadda.... Mate, as you know, life has its highs soon enough the lows come knocking, after a good 6yrs something got to give re LFC. They've shot themselves on the foot 2 seasons ago resting on their laurels with the current core (63 games last season burnt us too many oldies, early injuries this season ) and letting Mane go. WTF buy Gapko (great future player butbut) when our midfield is a mess let alone CB struggles. ce la vie YNWA we will be back one day haha

Liverpool will come back unfortunately, they too big a club. They had some great seasons.

The perfect world isn't there roosty. I understand your POV but no matter the ins and outs people/young players make their own choice when opportunity presents be it bloodlines and the techincalities FIFA allows...... The question more so should be why is it more attractive, I look at the system more than blaming a kid/family OR another country reaching out via links. IT would be a very hard decision to make but IF we had a proper pyramid, more Clubs, P/R etc do you think people would think twice. NSD is a saving grace looking ahead that would combat these circumstances to a large degree IF it ends up running well. NPL now has moved to 16 Club comps from this season (well in NSW that is) another positive. Its a slow boat to China as they say but there are things happenning finally below ALM and long long overdue for thats where the mustard is cut.......

I see it as a personal choice. We need to be proactive about tracking and engaging with promising young players. Creating the right environment and opportunities. I think if you do that the rest will get taken care of. And if we miss a few players that's their decision and the nature of it.

Kids can obviously choose to defect and represent other countries if they want, but that doesnt mean we should make it easy for foreign FAs to poach players WE developed. Nor should we tolerate clubs that purport to be Australian developing and exposing Australian talent to foreign FAs. Every club in the A league and NSD should be united towards a common goal and legacy which is to develop players for the Australian national team. Clearly that goal will be impeded if various clubs at the highest professional levels have established links with foreign FAs and we keep losing our best talent. Even its just one player, perhaps the next Viduka, would be a tragedy. Of course everyone is complacent until it happens…
As far as Im concerned NSD, pathways blah blah blah are all unrelated issues.

Again, other countries luring some of our players to possibly playing for them has never nor will it ever affect the Australian football at international level. Those names above, players and people I respect very much made their choice for reasons beyond narrow minded dipshits such as yourself however even if they were playing for Australia would it have made any difference. Oh remember Simunic? Whom we knocked out at the World Cup. Dear Lord, you're dumb.

I wonder what the reaction was when the Melbourne City captain (I think he was/is a true blue dinki di boy?) thanked "His royal Highness the Sheikh" after CFG won the grand final last season? Not so much a "defection" as a "genuflection"? hahahahahah

Again, other countries luring some of our players to possibly playing for them has never nor will it ever affect the Australian football at international level. Oh fuck off! Simunic is arguably the best centre back we've produced, debuting in the same year for Croatia that we lost WCQ to Uruguay with Shaun Murphy as our centre back. If Simunic played for Australia he'd probably be one of our highest capped players. To say that he, or other players we've lost who would've walked into the Socceroos (eg Gulum, Seric etc), has not affected Australian football is insane. Clearly every time we lost a player who would otherwise play for us that affects the Socceroos. If can affect individual results, it can affect world cup qualifying campaigns, it can affect how far we progress in the world cup. One day it might affect whether we win the world cup. It makes sense to protect every player we've invested in from the prying eyes of other federations, to ensure the best possible success for the Socceroos. If you don't understand that then you are incredibly thick. Obviously you were filling nappies when this all went down and that is why you are so ignorant of Australian football.

+xI heard a few kids have been selected and will be flying to croatia in the coming weeks to compete in their academics. Roosty must be happy. No probs with club academies. The problem I have is with clubs who purport to be Australian, proudly cite their history of developing x number of Socceroos, suddenly develop close ties with foreign bodies for the express purpose of developing players to represent that country rather than Australia. The world cup is very important for the continued growth of Australian football, so its equally very important that we have top tier Australian clubs who share a common goal and vision of developing their youngsters to represent Australia, rather than sharing our resources, knowledge, exposure and youth pathways with clubs who put Australia #2. If Knights want to produce players for Croatia very happy for them to remain a minnow in the state leagues.

Wonder if any of the kids selected play for any of the top club academies. I.e. in Syd, any croat heritage kids playing at Syd FC or Wanderers or even Apia? And how can they possibly identify talent to take back for trials with just afew hour camps. Unless they have sent scouts out since the camps finished. That way they watch the identified kids at their own clubs. Very curious how it all works as the Croats have shown they are masters at identifying and developing professional footballers

heard from a reliable source, 14 kids have been selected throughout Australia to go to croatia and play against their academies in the next school holidays period, being this April. lol
Noa Skoko another player that will be lost by the system. Not good enough for HAL academies, so he moved from North Geelong Warriors to Hajduk Split, only 17 currently playing for Hajduk U19's who just beat Manchester City in the Uefa Youth League which he assisted the winning goal.
