Very hot across Ecuadorian media. Games in Melbourne and Sydney next window. What an excellent test and I'd argue tougher than how Tunisia and Denmark were at the world cup. Ecuador were quite decent.

You can expect everyone from the world cup to be called up: Hrustic is definitely out. Metcalfe in. I'd also bring in Strain for Atkinson, Elder for King and this might be the chance for Arnold to ask Sainsbury if he'd like a home farewell game to end his international career. AMB and Gauci should be in but it won't happen just yet.

The last time we played Ecuador was the last time Ange ever selected Langerak 😬 #karatekid

Fringe players I'd like to see considered
D: Strain, Elder, Bos, Circati M: Volpato, Metcalfe, Devlin, Nieuwenhof F: D'Agostino,
We're lacking future forward options, especially central and left sided ones. M. Toure and A. Kuol might be worth considering.
Some guys might be better off grinding away at their club careers.

Wikipedia has Ecuador already playing a double header in Spain in the upcoming window (vs Ukraine and UAE) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecuador_national_football_teamHopefully if home games are 5 weeks away an announcement will be made soon.

Was it the one where we led 3-0 at half time? 2013-14 was such a crap era for the roos.

Arnold hinted it was best for Irankunda's development - and that of Melbourne City's Jordan Bos and Western Sydney midfielder Calem Nieuwenhof - to remain with the under-23s as they bid to qualify for next year's Olympics in Paris.
While true I hope the wait isn't too long for first squad exposure. It clicked at the right time but McGree was criminally underused the past cycle.

Boyle and Hrustic are surely out while Leckie also highly doubtful. Metcalfe in and I'd like to see Borrello get a half in one of the games.

My squad for this window
Ryan AMB Gauci
Strain Deng Rowles Souttar Degenek Behich Elder
Mooy Irvine Devlin Baccus McGree Metcalfe
Duke Goodwin Tilio Kuol Borrello Maclaren Cummings
Keeper selections won't happen. Don't see the point of selecting Atkinson here. It's a thanks for the WC for King will go although Bos or Elder have the much better claim. Metcalfe and Borrello on absolute fire. Mabil is better of staying in Prague for now. Still quite thin in the striker department.

Why would we pick players who are not going to be there for the next WC? We need to refresh the squad for the new 4 year cycle.

I agree with the sentiment, but imo that should start after the Asian Cup I think we need to remove a lot of the older players from the squad and blood younger players. That way we can see which young players are up to it, but for the Asian Cup some of the older players can be brought back in.

Looking forward to these friendlies.
Watching Arzani today, he was played as an attacking midfielder. He had a reasonable game. Not sure if he will permanently be moved to this position?
He is still very right foot and right side of the body dominant.
