+x+xGianni Stensness picked up a season ending injury at training with Viking. The injury hasn't been specified. On FotMob it's listed as a knee injury, so that doesn't sound great. Hope it's not an ACL The season has just started. To be out for the lot is likely an ACL you'd think.

Sad to see Mooy retire at such a relatively young age but what a Joy having watched him play for his clubs and especially for the Socceroos. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/soccer/truly-grateful-mooy-the-maestro-pulls-pin-on-career-with-socceroos-celtic-20230630-p5dkot.html

Hearts fixtures are favourable that they'll play everyone else before meetings Hibs and the big two in a row in October. Here's hoping they can win the vast majority and set up some massive clashes.

Australia the only team in the top forty without a regular in the big 5.
Reckon we have overperformed three world cups in a row compared to the club pedigree of our players

Wiesbaden back in training. They've seen their two best players move to bigger clubs. Hopefully this means a reshuffle and Iredale can start some more. I expect more minutes anyway as they'll likely be trailing in games and will need to seek goals.
Irvine and Metcalfe back in training already. Season start only 4 weeks away!

St Pauli have won both friendlies in their preseason so far and have a few more matches lined up. Metcalfe scored in the 6- 0 win against VfB Oldenburg. Irvine apparently still injured and did not play. Will be keen to watch Metcalfe's second season in 2 Bundesliga. Iredale will need to do a lot to grab Graham Arnolds eye for NT. Not impossible, and playing in the higher league will help, but i thought D'Agostino would figure at some level after his strong start at Viking, but he was overlooked. Time for McLaren to be moved on and some of these younger strikers to be given a chance to play.

I don't think people realise how well Arnold knows him. Had him at Sydney and was called up to Arnold's first ever Australia squad. ACL, Covid and also some other knocks and even a dental operation saw his good short bursts of form cancel out any consideration. What he has over Maclaren is he can run with the ball, link up much better and is physically stronger. The finishing aspect is what gets Maclaren in but it doesn't occur for Australia. These early practice games are all about fitness with a lot of rotation. Stuttgart linked with many attackers. Surely Alou Kuol is on the way out now. Italiano really can't afford another year at Gladbach either.

He also has good control One game here https://www.youtube.com/live/5CuqqGuAAsU?feature=share

He's got a poised I don't think we've seen for a long time in a 9. Taggart can finish them but can't dribble, Maclaren is a poacher against minnow, Duke is the best at linking up and can chime in but is not going to be around too much longer, D'Agosinto is being moulded into the next Duke. I think Cummings is done now.

July 1 is the day Transfermarkt.com resets all the squads. I wonder what's going to happen with Mabil?
Coady to Leicester. I think Faes will fetch a deal somewhere in first division. Can't see Souttar departing unless he's given assurance of starting at a different club.

Soyuncu has left Leicester as has Amartey which is good for Souttar. Hopefully he gets a starting spot this season and gets a few games under his belt.

Faes still there but I think a top 5 league team will have a look at him. Might see a back 3. They'll bring in some more centre backs but Souttar proved to be the best anyway. Let's just hope this new coach doesn't take the piss.

Yengi getting a lot of Portsmouth social media promotion. God I hope he kicks on. Felt even at WSW some of those strong strides on the ball he'd lok great in gold. I like that he's just another to give Arnold a headache. He said he prefers the striker role and he does well from the outside too.
He's got pretty good cards long term as Leckie, Duke and Goodwin may not even make 2026. What kind of scorer stats gets him close? 7-10 by 2024 should see him at least Asian Cup shortlisted. We're stacked though.

He will become a little fish in a big pond over there.

He's got pretty good skills for a big unit & has the ability to beat a defender one on one - I think he was played out of position at WSW - he's a striker not a winger. Hope he does well
