+xIf England go through the semi is going to be bigger than ben hur Serious thought. Would it be the highest rating programme in australian history?

Catley's penalty was shocking. Obvious like the first two of the tournament and leaning back. Should've gone the other way as the French keeper simply knew she goes left.

Was so nervous when Fowler came up. The pressure and fatigue but her penalty was just the best.

That feeling when you want England to win because you want to be the ones who beat them

Massive game. Fowler was immense. Thought Foord and carpenter looked tired at times, but considering the klms they must have gone through fair enough. Arnold was great, but at times we rode our luck. See how the lack of rotation affects us, but right now mega happy we got through

What a game!
What a pen shoot out!
Still don’t like Tony G’s game plan or lack of player rotation.
I’ve just read somewhere he is a terrific player manager though. The Matildas are probably also pretty happy with him.
He has taken Aus further than any team in a senior World Cup. Fair play to Tony G.

I'm just glad people can enjoy themselves. The AFL management did this and I don't think they've got much to worry about post tournament. Time will tell. A women's world cup in their time zone and match slot is nearly over for the first time for a long time yet.

+xWe practise penalties… I call bs. Glad we got through…. we also need a penalty saver, maybe Whyman or Micah are better for next time. Williams will be gone soon. Arnold was player of the match..

One of the best moments in Australian sporting history let alone just in football!
What incredible drama in the penalty shootout, ive never seen anything like it.
Commiserations to the les bleus, they were incredible in their effort and gave us an incredible and tough challenge.
Now for the girls to rest up for probably the biggest game in our history on Wednesday night.

I think Fowler just needs to ensure fewer touches and play the passes. Lots of steps and touches sees the marker get close or her own decision leads to another touch and the runner is gone.
It can be coached out of her as she's still young. Good spatial awareness and just needs the feet and brain to go for it.

Really not sure the AFL or NRL have that much to worry about. Even if we have momentum, our game in Australia seems to have a way of tuning things on its own.
I saw the AFL/Channel 7 were also promoting the AFLW during the telecast. They know they have an angle they can take here.
As for this match, huge effort. Hopefully they have something left in the tank for Wednesday.

Atmosphere at the stadium was electric. My word, Fowler is such a good player. Probably our best technical and intelligent player.
We had the ascendancy in the 2nd half and Tony should have brought on Chids to capitalise, but he didn't and once that steam wore off, we were going long ball and Kerr was isolated and out of it. I love that we have made it this far but feels like we've ridden our luck a bit with these lack of subs and poor rotation tactics. At one point, Simon was getting ready to come on with 1 minute left in Extra Time.
I know Arnold will get the plaudits, but as a goalkeeping coach, her penalty diving needs to be a bit better. She moves way too quickly. Needs to hold her shape a bit longer and force the kicker to wince. French keeper was good at this.

They only input they had was to fight against it. The MCC decided in cooperation with Optus and Seven. When the AFL got what they didn't want, they turned around and promoted it as their good will decision.

It's England folks. I don't fear them. We beat them earlier this year and showed we can set up the exploit them accordingly. I'm concerned about our fitness so a bit of rotation wouldn't be bad.

I remember Williams in the penalty shoot out against Brazil in the Rio Olympics (pretty sure that was the game). She was horrible, never looked like saving anything. She was extremely slow to take off when diving, and the distance she covered with her dives was very poor.
