Let the England front 3 score. Fowler has got to get out of City as they don't seemingly rate or play her and it may not change.

+x+x+xLet me guess...if The Lionesses lose, the narrative in England will be "international football sucks and the Women's EPL is the superior competition..." Just like they spin every 4 years when England inevitably fail to live up to the hype. Just think, WHEN we beat them and win the final we will have the same amount of stars on our jerseys as the "home of football". hahahahahahahahahahaahahahahah So “ WHEN “ will that be ? Were you holding that post the whole time wanking yourself for this moment

well they were the better team, though they looked a lot better that their professional fouls in transition only resulted in 1 yellow. Poor reffing, and then only 6 minutes of injury time after some time wasting tactics for the majority of the 2nd half
its a different ball game if England are on 3 yellows after 20

The defence had a shocker. Catley terrible with the ball all game, just gave the ball away time after time with pointless balls foward and terrible defending for the 3rd goal. Carpenter terrible for the 2nd goal and did very little otherwise. Hunt who had been very good previously and Polkinghorne both looked lost too much of the time.
The tactic of going long to the box where there are 3 central defenders against one small forward is just shit.

it hurts becuz i reckon we 'would of won it all' if we won this but we were beaten by a better side - their midfield ran circles around us in the 1st half we made silly errors in 2nd half got to same im proud of how the girls have done but i am pretty heart broken....esp losing to England....that is just salt in the wound

The absolute least important right now but we've got a game against Sweden.
3rd place games suck but the attendance will be telling. Tickets probably sold ages ago for a chance to see two good teams anyway.

+xIs Renard a potential for Matildas? NO!! I'm sick of Euro coaches failing to comprehend The Australian Spirit! We should be throwing $$$ at Montemurro.

Third goal. Catley geez. Ran along for 35m. She's had a rotten tournament too. Yes, we went far and did a job but I feel our fullbacks were really underwhelming with their stature and lack of attack bearing fruit.

Cooney-Cross & Fowler are the future of Aus women's football. They are the archetype we need to start producing over and over again.
Special mention to Vine as well.

How the fuck does Carpenter play for a Champions League winning club in France. She has always lacked that last bit of skill, and runs around aimlessly like the proverbial headless chook. Can't cross a ball to save her life. Her first touch is horrible. Even excluding the defensive cockup that a 10 year old would be ashamed of (I counted three missed swipes at the ball after her atrocious decision to let the ball run on), she has been poor all tournament.

England played well. Just long balling it is just not really a viable option when it's 3v1. Too many hopeful balls in to the box. Got to be better to winning in midfield and transition quickly. Our fefense looked fragile, carpenter didn't have a great game.

Invariably there'll be a lot of media pride but also bickering and editorials about it actually winning anything.
The issue is the Asian Cup is still so minimal and it all goes very cold from here.
I've just had a realisation. The jumping up and down on the footpath when we won the bid at the start of Covid. It's all done now. All the work and hope. Semi vs England out and 3 late opportunities to level are probably a bit more than I'd anticipated.

Fucking hell a bit of luck is always around. We played all our cards. England too though. Pens vs Nigeria, gifts vs Colombia and tonight too. Spain losing 4:0 shows the world champion isn't necessarily the best overall but that's tournament football full stop.

That was terrible from our defence. Carpenter was all over the place. Those 3 goals were easily avoidable, but we were just not on our game. The defence looked lethargic and at all sorts. Got to wonder if the fact they never had any rest caught up to them.
Tony will stay on, but he has some major questions to answer. Needing goals and throwing on a tall player for the obvious long ball is not a tactic. Also having a player of Chidiacs quality on the bench and using her for about 10 minutes all tournament is unacceptable.
I know we can look at this and say its a great result to make the last four, but the reality is that it could have been better. We should have been better in that game. England were made to look much better than they have been all tournament.

Of course the long established nsl could export players good enough to play at that level, it was barely a step up. Now we really struggle. I reckon more than half of our golden generation struggle to make the epl today

You've highlighted many reasons why Tony does not need to stay on!

Cahill is a hard case since he is such an unusual player, but might make it
