A nice 2:0 win for City. I didn't watch but the scoreline looks good. Weren't City being touted as whipping boys? Buriram are supposed to be excellent, aren't they? Zhejiang beat Ventforet so it's been an excellent matchday. H2H is the tiebreaker though but two away wins for City makes a strong claim.

Just not good enough by Macarthur. Credit to Phonm Penh though who are first with 10 scored and 0 conceded. There is a generous second placed ranking too so it's vital both the Mariners and Macarthur progress.

Still, you can see they left a few of the big names at home as they face the Mariners Sunday and fly in and fly out is taxing yet all teams have to do it.

2 of those 3 games are in a lower level competition.
Previous years Australian teams only competed in the top-level Champions League.

Because of A-league teams' poor results in the Asian Champions League over last 8 or 9 seasons only our premiership winners qualify for the top comp.It's a long time since Wanderers win and several years before that AU reaching the final.The J league,K league and Saudi clubs are more monied and have coaches and players who are generally superior to our people.We may not be able to compete with the finances available to these clubs but with improved coaching and playing standards A-league teams should be able to at least qualify for the latter stages of the comp.MC so far look likely to move to the next round.

Having teams in the AFC  gives our coaches and players experience of playing against less dominant teams as well as getting used to Asian conditions in the away legs.As a CCM supporter I love these midweek games and our 2 home games have seen plenty of goals.

City turn it around and lead 3:2 in Japan. Mariners with a late draw.

3 v 3 for CFG ... Those mid table 2nd Division Japanese clubs can be quite tricky at home.

Mariners drew 1 all  with Terengganu( Malaysia) and left it  late to equalise.Terengganu were set up to defend as expected but Mariners were wasteful and woeful in attack.

Penalty to City! Game has changed. So after complaints from the ZeiJaing players, the ref. checked the screen and awards a foul against City. Unbelievable.

City have gone back to their slow and steady pace. Who'd a thought another goal would put them through to the knockout round of the AFC Champions League?

The other thing that annoys me is in this day of the VAR, how can a team be offside 7 times. Absolutely wasteful!!!!
