Mariners have taken a seat at the head of the table. They really are a well run club to still be going strong after all the players they have sold.

Keep him here for 5 seasons I believe? Yeah, hey the guy is good and young and although we have a lot of good wingers coming through, why not another?

Apparently he couldn't hit a barn door at previous clubs but it goes to show if you're happy and healthy you can really thrive. He loves it here. The bright lights of that smoke down south will surely be knocking on the door soon.

There were rumours this week of a move to Korea, hope for the league he stays here for a bit more longer.

These kind of players make the league more watchable and exciting.

I think Hobart is pulling bigger crowds than Geelong home games, when Western U play here. Over 5000 attended yesterday.

I think the men's fixture this week, Western U V SFC,  which was a 2-2 draw, was not as good a game as last week's fixture when WSW beat Western U 1-0 at North Hobart.

The women's game was better. Western U beat CCM 3-1.

The local rag  reported on the women's game, but not the men's.

51:10. I've seen enough. What a pass by Nisbet. Get him into the national team. Mooy vibes.

Haven't seen enough of him, but  I like what I've seen.

A nimble player good at passing and moving in tight spaces. He is also quick on the turn.

Germain should have awarded a ref card for lashing with studs at Beadling who was the ground.

Obvs I haven't seen the footage, but was intrigued to learn during my ref training that 'petulant' lash outs/retaliation do not warrant a red anymore.

Yep, in days gone by I would have seen that as a straight red.

I think it's recently come up as a retro controversy because of Netflix too: discussion on whether Beckham's 1998 World Cup red card would have been a straight red in today's day and age .

I wondered as much about Davila kicking at the ball when Davila was on the ground and the keeper basically had it in his hands. It was an ugly little series of actions with the keeper hipped as he took the ball (probable foul), then the Jermain stud lash too.

There was the high boot later that did have one player ducking a bit to the ball but the foot was clearly high enough to be dangerous and was so close to hitting the face. From memory it was called play on 'nothing wrong with that' because the high boot got the ball - but it looked so close to a face kick that it had me cringing,

Agree, on that game alone, that Davila is a diving cheat though. He was critically injured so many times (yes, partly because he is targeted so heavily) then sprung up unscathed most times. His box flopping is as obvious as his field flopping when he tries it on and he tried it today often.

It was a game with so much beautiful football intermingled with some of the nasty, ugly football that highly contested games produce. More than niggle, there were quite forceful fouls being committed by both sides and a real bad feeling between the sides as it progressed.

Davila got tumbled brutally in the red card incident and hit his head on the other Wanderers player's thigh/leg as he was thumped to ground - then the idiot Wanderers try to drag him up and push him. Mindless thuggery in that with the unsubtle hand of Rudan's 'winning psychology' obvious in their demeanour. Complete lack of care in their game focus.

The creation and completion of goals showed such sublime skill and movement football by both teams. It was a horrible and wonderful game to watch.

I can't say that I felt confident the ball did cross the line for the contested goal that was given to win the game either. I thought Thomas got it in time.

It really had the feeling of an old school battle today. Nothing held back.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

He spoke well, and I agree that he is not whinging or having a sook tonight.

The one factor he may not consider is that he personally is the reason for some of the bad feeling towards the club. I don't like the way he coaches his teams and I admit that colours my view of Wanderers and makes it hard for me to enjoy watching the team. Too much professionalism and win at all costs.

I can see he is passionate and supportive of the club. I can see he is 100% committed to the club. That is great to see and hear. I still can't stand watching Wanderers go too hard into the opposition, too professional in their fouling (that may not show up in the card count but bloody well should), and too time wastery (yes, that's a term) when they are ahead.

I will say that Davila putting his hand to a Roar player's throat when the Roar player was flat on his back the other week in retaliation lead to no punishment too though. They may have downgraded the retaliation punishment across the competition - which I think would not be good due to the frustration that 'sanctioned' foul behaviour causes and the escalation that invariably follows in the match.

Good on Rudan (must be a typo) for saying what he said. He feels it, so it is legitimate comment and I hope they don't go after him for it. It deserved to be said.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Rudan's language  in the dug out when Simmons was red carded two weeks ago, was disgusting! He should have been red carded into the stands.

Having said that, the way his young team played in Hobart, in the last AL round, was fantastic to watch.

I'm very much envious of all the posters in this thread who have regular AL football to watch live.

Have immensely enjoyed Western U playing their last two games in Hobart. The WU women played as well this week.

Nathan McGill fails to understand violent conduct as laid down in the IFAB Laws of the Game. He has said Germain should have received a yellow card because no contact was made.
The LOTG section on violent conduct includes INTENT.

Direct quote with my emphasis and underline.

Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.
In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.

I haven't seen the clip, but I've just emphasized the part that may be as to why there's a yellow and not a red..

Not every kick out is an attempt at brutality. See Gethin Jones yellow card for the Socceroos against Indonesia.
Again, I haven't seen the clip of this incident (funnily enough every clip I find has the incident focusing on Davila rather than the other guy), but I would make a guess the referee saw it that way.
In which case, I'm surprised there's not at least a yellow card, as even though it's off camera in these clips, something obviously happens.

EDIT: Not sure why it's underlining everything now, some weird formatting thing
