Rumours are that Nike are launching the next national team jerseys tomorrow (today? since this article was posted 12 hours ago), so wondering if we'll get something tomorrow morning / overnight.

Always unsure at how I feel at this stage of national team jerseys, as it's always a 'qualifiers only' jersey due to the timing of the Asian Cup, unlike Europe and South America where the releases are timed to the World Cup + their continental tournaments.

https://www.footyheadlines.com/2024/01/nike-2024-national-team-kits.html

Based off this article and website, us and Qatar are the only ones not to have leaked yet. Can't say they aren't doing anything for Asia, as Korea's is part of this leak

It might be now or the next round of qualifiers. It's a weird overlap where we have a qualifying jersey then a WC and AC version only to then change again. I ordered plenty of the current kit as I like it and it's got some good memories. I'm very curious how the next one will be especially the away kit.

Australia seemingly good at keeping things under wraps, maybe more down to their own incompetence and organisation, yet new kits have burst onto the scene without any suspense. I think the last WC kit had a bit of a build up.

I personally think we are getting the Netherlands kit (but in Australian colours obviously).
Not sure what the away colour scheme would be. Maybe we're going back to the navy and white/gold.

Normally DHGATE has new designs floating around weeks before release. Only Olympic kits have been added lately. The men's team kits were flawless on the site. I ordered Matildas and unfortunately they were horrible print shirts and newer ones still have discoloured emblems or shading. They're having a massive sale with coupons and I'm keen to get both Olympic kits.

I usually use this site for any non-Australian kits I wanna get (so will probably get the Italian one) https://www.gogoalshop.se

would love to get Olympic ones, never usually see them for sale

Cheers. I used Aliexpress in 2018 and was gobsmacked at what I got for 20€. Mooy absolutely mint with no difference when holding it up next to the ones at the German retailer. I did get a Cahill in lemon yellow from another seller. One of a kind! Kinda obsessed I think I got about 7 from the last WC with names and numbers. Every club kit I've gotten has been nothing short of excellent. Stuff the retail markups!

Yep, I think the only “authentic” ones I’ve gotten in the past 3 years are the Matilda’s ones, and my Italian club in Serie C. Everything else I’ve been getting through these kinds of websites.

in fact, the first website I used, I must have bought so much (retro Italian jerseys mainly), that they actually sent me real Italy Euro 2020 Chiesa shirt. One of the shirts I bought off them was the Euro 2020 shirt anyways (but with my name on it instead) so it was interesting to compare. 2 and a half years later, the numbers have actually faded off the “real” gift version, but are still on my “fake” one.

I got a pair of kid's Cameroon socks instead of a kit once. Got refund and the socks are still about.

I'm doubtful how good or true the Olympic kits on DHGATE are but 2 reputable sellers have uploaded the so I can only assume their factories have the blueprint and tags etc

That’s one I might fork out the actual dosh for. Just saw that ASICS/AOC will have them available from May for $90 each

EDIT: actually just saw what you meant, and at that $20ish mark, might be worth it for the Olympic stuff haha

Just a hypothetical of what we would have had now, had we stayed with Adidas in 2004/gone back to Adidas:

EDIT: Damn I forgot to colour the collar

I'm honestly expecting something similar to this (different collar and slightly different sleeve cuffs, and different shade of green) to be honest. Will literally be like the Matildas shirt without the marble/wave pattern

Good lord no. That's average.

All I ever hope for with the kits is white socks, yellow shirt, green shorts.

It's the away I wish they'd go bananas on. The last 2 away are/were cod ordinary.

Yeah I wish they'd go bananas for us too. Unfortunately, not a big market so will always take the safe/easy route. One thing I'm genuinely interested in from an aesthetic point (and this is only for the player / 'authentic' versions of the shirt, unfortunately not the replica) is that Nike is doing this mesh/silicon forms of the badges, rather than just a single silicon shield:

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGlPT2M6ZkhRp6hHeQWoOE6D4uC2fY4GVOMagIO470uTuawmHuBfCwXfCvcKjQakKZfAUig2fW_nvM9gh8yc0RsSp0yfncSChs5lhXbLdAooHwaDRigS3dxxGYNYdhNWdXkVKFDyPOuPcgs2_O0J-8JP73SGL0JrvP8s-Sw2ecXQ-D2U80lAIkW7EEPMeg/s1000/nike%202024%20crests%20%2810%29.jpg

Few other things on the kits:
Goalkeeper kits template for Nike, looks very much like the Matildas shirt pattern tbh...
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl5bYmPiLp751Fhbx987rAENu8bG9sp5OrZEnEFg33DQPuTgM6DCno5NfoX92z0ImWNIh0TirqzXfLNXj8qH-Bl-ds1R3Qq6nKQcq-1_geKq1fSk4r8IfRZzQMy9nPqH821N83CkKSzeIQJ8Z2lSVarqlk0fIpqzuXkYTxId71_Y-4EpBp-rJrZI9UICOM/s1000/nike-2024-gk-kits%20%2818%29.jpg

Also, knowing that we always get the generic Nike font (I think the only time we didn't was 2010 World Cup and 2014 World Cup qualifiers), this has been revealed for the France and Portugal kits:

Yeah I wish they'd go bananas for us too. Unfortunately, not a big market so will always take the safe/easy route. One thing I'm genuinely interested in from an aesthetic point (and this is only for the player / 'authentic' versions of the shirt, unfortunately not the replica) is that Nike is doing this mesh/silicon forms of the badges, rather than just a single silicon shield:

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGlPT2M6ZkhRp6hHeQWoOE6D4uC2fY4GVOMagIO470uTuawmHuBfCwXfCvcKjQakKZfAUig2fW_nvM9gh8yc0RsSp0yfncSChs5lhXbLdAooHwaDRigS3dxxGYNYdhNWdXkVKFDyPOuPcgs2_O0J-8JP73SGL0JrvP8s-Sw2ecXQ-D2U80lAIkW7EEPMeg/s1000/nike%202024%20crests%20%2810%29.jpg

Few other things on the kits:
Goalkeeper kits template for Nike, looks very much like the Matildas shirt pattern tbh...
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl5bYmPiLp751Fhbx987rAENu8bG9sp5OrZEnEFg33DQPuTgM6DCno5NfoX92z0ImWNIh0TirqzXfLNXj8qH-Bl-ds1R3Qq6nKQcq-1_geKq1fSk4r8IfRZzQMy9nPqH821N83CkKSzeIQJ8Z2lSVarqlk0fIpqzuXkYTxId71_Y-4EpBp-rJrZI9UICOM/s1000/nike-2024-gk-kits%20%2818%29.jpg

Also, knowing that we always get the generic Nike font (I think the only time we didn't was 2010 World Cup and 2014 World Cup qualifiers), this has been revealed for the France and Portugal kits:
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtCMFiel1J0owV5Vzo4QBlGRJ_zAkevXtCn3LQRY1QgpDhZRu5id6VBAvCunJd1kJ8RlUt_ByTH8HAzZYDorxbu7Jx4SyvBGXdVTfp0qjJAkuXv_2N0T7be6eK_L2lMQ7cL7_4rClevAFZe3htXvpiIYqzKRw7SZOCMRb7ZY3xkpPxGbnN6Q72LSner1Jn/s1000/nike%202024%20kit%20font%20%282%29.jpg

Can anyone weigh in on why the Socceroos and Matildas use the coat of arms on the national team jerseys and not the FA badge like most of the rest of the world does?

I mean some of them are garbage but the FA logo isnt that terrible compared to like US or Canada for example.

My pet peeve on Aussie merch is how clearly it stands out from what the team wears on the pitch... Not upset about the coat of arms as a symbol before anyone jumpos down my throat but perhaps, if we used a modified version of it (like England does with FA 3 lions badge) then there wouldnt be an issue with fans also wearing it with pride???

Taken from a few documents (sorry for the bad formatting in some cases, PDF's do that for some reason):

Australian representative national sporting teams participating in international competitions may seek the Australian Government’s permission to display the Arms on their uniforms. Requests should be directed to the Honours, Symbols and Territories Branch in writing by an authorised officer of the team and supply: the name of the team, and the location, dates and the name of the competition.Only teams recognised by the Australian Sports Commission may be permitted to use the Arms or where, after consultation with the Commission, the Minister or his or her delegate is satisfied that it is appropriate for a team to receive permission.Permission, where granted, will allow the Arms to be displayed by representative sports persons on their playing and dress uniforms and by accompanying officials on their dress uniforms. Permission will not extend to use on merchandise and sponsors material. Each approval is for one competition only. However, approval may be given for more than one competition where competitions of a like kind occur within a short period of time or sequentially within a given overseas tour. Each request will be dealt with on a case by case basis and requests will usually only be considered within four months of the commencement date of the competition.Should approval be granted, the name and the dates of the competition must be shown immediately under the Arms on the dress and playing uniforms. No advertising material or sponsorship is to be positioned near the Arms and no words or images are to be positioned above the Arms.

Since 1922 permission has also been granted to sporting teams representing Australia in international competition to display the Arms on their official uniforms.
Permission to reproduce the Coat of Arms may be granted on a case by case basis to non-Commonwealth bodies, for example to sporting team srepresenting Australia in international competition and for use in certain educational publications.
In the case of sporting bodies who have been authorised users, they have relied on the symbol with its uniquely Australian animals, to make a declaration of national identity to the international community.

Interestingly, a government enquiry in 1994 on the use of the coat of arms recommended the playing jerseys to not have the coat of arms, but for off field gear to include instead (which FA does the opposite)
11. Various sporting bodies support the continued access to the use of the Coat of Arms on the official uniforms worn by Australian national representative sportspersons. The Committee considers that the Coat of Arms should be available for use on the non-playing uniforms of national representative sportspersons, but not on clothes worn playing sport.

The only other countries I can think of that do anything like us, are South Africa (although they include both), and Spain.

Also, to be fair, the version of the shirts on sale do have a modified version of the coat of arms, as it's illegal to reproduce the full coat of arms without Australian Gov. permission (permission is only granted for actual sporting uniforms), so the FA replaces the shield with the FA logo. Most sports have something similar. Cricket Australia replaces the shield with their logo as well, and Rugby Union has a rugby ball placed over the shield. In the past we did the same thing, just smacked a football over the shield on the shirts for sale (was like this from 2004 to whenever the new FA logo was brought in if I recall correctly)

Cheers mate, yeah I sort of knew most of this, was just wandering why FA (and other sporting bodies) chose to continue using it.

All I can think of is that it's just become a national symbol across all sports, and just a societal norm. I can't think of any of our national teams using a different logo (maybe variations of it, like Cricket, which still as far as I know features the older coat of arms with the four states and the blue cross in the middle).
Australian Cricket Coat of Arms. Displayed on the Baggy Green cap and ...
You know what, I'm not even sure that is supposed to represent the 4 states. Almost seems like it's just NSW.

Italy I guess was much the same for a lot of history (I know the logo with the blue circle and the flag was used through the 90s) but eventually the FIGC (Italy's FA) just made their logo a scudetto so it can be used as a logo but still keeping to the societal norm of Italy.

It's actually illegal to use the coat of arms on replica shirts.

I like the coat of arms on the NT shorts and the fact you can't get them unless you actually play for the country. Not sure though why we use the coat of arms.

Interestingly - Adidas (at least from 1997-2001) used to sell the replicas with the Soccer Australia logo (that triangle thing), but for the 2002-2003 and the planned 2004 jerseys (they made them before Soccer Australia reformed into FFA) were sold with the coat of arms, but saying "SOCCER AUSTRALIA" instead of just "AUSTRALIA". Not sure if that was a valid loophole though. I do have one of those jerseys for reference (the 2004 one). Mono might like it actually - it's the Greece Euro 2004 shirt, but in yellow and green.

I just picked up a 2001 jersey (with the Soccer Australia logo) a few months back. Need to find somewhere to get Viduka's name put on it haha. I've been buying older shirts and getting names put on them recently.
Have picked up
The 2004 Adidas concept as mentioned earlier (Kewell)
2005 Away (Bresciano)
2010 Home (Grella)

Hahahaha I tried to do that with my parents going to Italy last year, all I got was a printed t-shirt for the pizzeria a distant cousin runs over there

Early Puma, yes (I'd say up to Euro 2012 shirt). Except the last Euro shirt, that was magnificent, I have 2 hahaha.

It's traditional for ALL of Australia's sporting teams. If you are recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as a National Sporting Organisation (NSO)  you have the right to use the coat of arms. See Recognition of National Sporting Organisations

On that, I might do some research on why Spain and Seth Efrica continue to use coat of arms - might just be the same as here.

The coat of arms is way better than that dog turd of an FA logo are you seriously having a whine about that?

Can anyone weigh in on why the Socceroos and Matildas use the coat of arms on the national team jerseys and not the FA badge like most of the rest of the world does?

I mean some of them are garbage but the FA logo isnt that terrible compared to like US or Canada for example.

It's a valid question when most countries around the world use their association logo, and not a coat of arms/other national emblem though (even though FIFA allows the use of either/both)

Hahaha, and even then, if we go by the usual woke metrics, the racism is usually inferred from those wanting to KEEP the coat of arms.

A massive fallout has ensued and the timing of it being pre home tournament makes it an unwelcome distraction. Politicians whose policies have eradicated domestic business strength and opportunity are now calling for domestic business patriotism. Ludicrous.

It's pretty crazy seeing the types of Australian shirts on German ebay. Good condition 2006 was only 30€. Doesn't resonate with people here as much. Lots of kits bought by people during that summer to pick a second team.

Yep, unless I'm buying fakies, a lot of the time I'm looking for second hand shirts online. Good condition 2001 jersey I mentioned earlier from England for... $80, I think it was? And also found someone selling 2010 home jerseys for $40 each.

Then found a guy in Malaysia who replicates shirt name/numbers for like $10 a shirt, sends them over, then I can get a local guy to put them on for $5 a shirt.

For what it's worth, Japan and Algeria's new kits aren't being released until June - so maybe that's what Nike is doing with a few of the non European teams.
https://www.footyheadlines.com/2024/03/algeria-and-japan-2024-kits.html

Although... no Greece update, which is weird. But, I do know that:
a) They changed theirs last season and,
b) Apparently they are now being based off 'Teamwear' (basically just bulk buying a template and applying the Greece logos to the jerseys)

While we're on coat of arms, I've decided to do that research I said I would into Seth Efrica and Espana:

South Africa Proteas logo (from an article about the 2023 Rugby World Cup)
the Protea is the official emblem of all South African sports teams, according to the government’s National Colours Act, taking precedence over the Springbok.

This isn't a coat of arms, nor the SAFA logo, but is an official government national symbol (And features across South African sporting teams such as the Springboks, Bafana Bafana and the Proteas (Cricket)
Shirt badge/Association crest

Spanish coat of arms logo
Interesting one, as I can't find a thing that says its a government reason (granted, I didn't look too hard). The only thing I can find is:
Spain's official coat of arms is its national symbol. It appears on the national flag, the Spanish flag, and on items that represent Spain, such as the national football team's jerseys. It was approved by law in 1981, after the transition to democracy.

But, they do actually use a modified version since 2008(?) that is the coat of arms with an added banner featuring an old-timey football and the RFEF initials (Spanish FA)

Well... pre 2008, Spain just had the coat of Arms - no RFEF branding alongside it. So.. must just be local legislation here that forbids the direct use of it outside of a representative uniform, as clearly in South Africa and Spain, they allow these symbols/coat of arms to be worn outside that realm.

So, seeing as the kit generator thingy I use online now has the Nike template up (well, at least the version that England uses), these are my two new mock ups of what I think we are getting. Main thing that I think will change is the collar.

Still no kits for this matchday - so... surely will be for Round 3 (September)

Side note - Hong Kong's was launched today (also Nike), which, apart from the little pattern they have, may be very, very similar to what we'll get. I mean.. we'll definitely be getting that goalkeeper design (just depends on the colours I guess.. but there's always a large range of colours used by the GK)

Might do some mockups on these designs when I get a chance..

How would one feel about this? This is about the closest I can make it on my little kit creator thing. It's not the white version (the pattern that I've been able to apply doesn't really allow for that...) But have done a navy/gold/white version (as has traditionally been our away colours since 1998)

Thanks a lot for putting it together but my god it looks so Scottish all of a sudden. I hadn't considered that. We played all navy in 2006.

Perhaps green might be something. Do we dare try sky blue and  maroon for something different but traditional?

Just had my version of this arrive from dhgate.

https://www.asics.com/au/en-au/team-australia-olympic-replica-football-tee/p/AOP_2033B896-750.html

https://www.dhgate.com/product/24-25-australia-olympique-national-team-soccer/985651100.html?dspm=pcde.orderlistpage.astab.1.tRyA8D5igEh5gF1p0HmO&stockCountry=CN

I can't see much of a difference. The lighting greatly affects the colour. The players appear to have different, better, official ones while the ASICS site for fan replace has the little air holes just like my dhgate one. You can tell everything has been printed on one of those big jersey machines but for 15€ it's a good sport shirt.

Been tempted to get this - also saw it on the little knock-off site that I get things off too. Although they're selling for $65...
Was definitely going to get if Olyroos qualified - Might look into it as part of my tax return splurge

It was 16€ for me and free shipping and got to Germany in 10 whole days, not business days. Couldn't believe the doorbell ringing this morning. It's a very solid replica and I'd be really keen to know how it would stack up against the Asics ones being sold on their site as 'replicas.' It would appear the green on the arm ends are a tad darker on the official site while my patterns have been printed on using one of those jersey making machines. All Socceroo ones I have ordered have been flawless. Some sellers for the Matildas have real photos instead of digital images and my 2 were shocking with flat printed logos and names and no embroidery or adhesives. This shirt is double that of the Matildas ones but below that of my 12? Roos ones.

The player versions clearly have their own green ends on the arms of thicker material whereby these replicas come across as an overpriced rip off for Olympic fans.

The lime green training kits look sweet.

Surely Aliexpress doesn't know something.... Don't mind that navy kit though.

Mixed feelings. Dhgate order arrived. Pica of Socceroos kit. Unfortunately Matildas arrived with Iredale and Bos on the back so it just looks dumb. Only 13€ each. The printing is actually excellent in colour and quality. The stores are clearly duping by using men's kit photos with only the women's team in stock. The shading of the kit colour is poor. Good exercise shirts.

Looks like some made up mish mash of old shirts (can see shades of 2005 and 2022 in the home one), and the spew kit in the navy one, so wouldn't expect anything out of these ones.

The "current" kit got launched on September 15 2022, so that would put the previous kits last match to the qualifier v Peru.

That previous kit launched September 17 2020, so would probably put it to the same timeframe. COVID seems to have changed the timing of new Socceroos shirts (as it was previously in line with all the other nations that would be launched by the first FIFA window of the calendar year (March)

Lots of nice memories in our current kit. Wasn't too keen initially but it looked better and better. Excited yet a bit fearful of what's next. Didn't really like the one for 22 qualification. WC 2018 was slightly better than the qualification one.

Oh wow that’s not as long ago as I thought. Maybe they’re all looking more similar these days and becoming a bit of a blur in my mind then.
