Keeper stops two big Mariners chances. That clash with Kuol deserved at least a free if not a yellow or even red by some Asian ref standards.

I only got to see the second half with Mariners sort of shading them on balance - until the goals broke their resolve. Two very ugly, very lucky goals to Mariners, and a third goal off a really bad mistake gifting Di Pizio the ball in the middle of the penalty box unmarked. He finished an awkward ball very well though to beat the keeper. Theohaurus lucky to stay on for a flying high boot that made contact with the face of his opponent at the end of the lunge. Not a lot of force in the face contact, but still very reckless and dangerous. Balanced out by the Abdysh-Ata keeper getting off scott free after taking out Kuol when he was otherwise one on one with a normal defender (so not a straight red - but not even a free kick awarded) and a good chance on goal. Both teams made a lot of errors with misdirected passes but from the sound of it the first half was pretty high intensity by Abdysh-Ata so both teams would have been suffering. Congratulations Mariners. I was excited by your first goal - huge relief for me watching as an Aussie 'neutral' so no doubt enormous for you guys. Good to get the teams' heads back in the game after the travel fiasco and the charges against Torres.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Top win by the Mariners. The Kants were the better team in the first half but we came back in the second half.Doka was great-unheralded player and took a while to settle but such good technique and football intelligence.

Asian champs on p+. 3-3agg going extra time. Harry kewel coaching. No away goals rule which I don’t agree with but yes awesome late charge mariners! Get effort by the… other team. So dirty tackles both sides. Koul was junk.

The final oppoentn has been decided. It's Al Ahed of Lebanon. Their ground with 2000 capacity has been accused and denied of storing rockets. Besides that they played their KO games in Oman (the nation of the opponent they just beat, and Iraq.) It would appear the Mariners might be going to Muscat after all. West Asia hosts this final. To be honest I hope there can be talks to just have it in the UAE with all their facilities and direct flights. Oman isn't too bad but UAE would be much better. They have a Scottish striker who's been at a few English clubs including Leeds. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Ahed_FC#Current_squadhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Erwin_(footballer)

I believe Ahed have played some of their home games in Oman as their stadium in Beirut is off limits due to the situation with Hezbollah and accusations they store rockets there. So already they have some" home ground" advantage.

Exactly right and it appears a particularly hot time of year there. It'll be a test. Good to see Lawrie McKinna has got a tour set up for those willing to travel.
