+x+x+xWhat a massively important with for Ipswich. A much better chance at going up this weekend. A point or matching Leeds result will be enough. Very exciting, really hope they go up & they keep Luongo & he gets some starts in the Premier league. Double promotion for Ipswich if they succeed, up from League one last year. Get the feeling Luongo might come back to the national team once promoted. Less matches in the Premier league and likely Ipswich will strengthen also I think he'll play less matches than this season. Anyway here's hoping. Very exciting to see another 5 aussies in the top 5 leagues next season in addition to deni genreau and Mo Toure. Yes great call with Luongo coming back to Socceroos fold, he is exactly what we need to guide the team around. Yes also great to see more players in the top leagues, hopefully they keep him & he plays.

Yeah hopefully Luongo is back with the Socceroos. We will need him as DM along with Irvine in the final qualification. We can't rely on Baccus anymore with his countless turnovers Infront of our box.

The first time Justin Rees told his wife, Tjinta, that he wanted to buy a small football club 10,000 miles from their home, she cried.
“Our plan was to open a hotel and wedding venue, have two girls and a dog and live in Bondi and then live happily ever after,” Rees told me.
“But I obviously threw a hand grenade at those plans.” https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/may/02/southend-united-fc-slow-death-possible-rebirth-ron-martin-justin-rees?CMP=soc_568

+xCircati promoted Congrats I think if he holds his starting spot he will be our 2nd youngest first choice in the big 5 after kewell? Great news!! Shout for AA of the season.. there are a few to pick from actually along with Irvine, the 2 Ipswich lads, metcalfe, Ryan, Robertson, N'hoff. Re 2nd youngest.. Neil kilkenny was a starter in prem at very young age. Unfortunately that was his peak.

Genuinely worried France as an 18 yr old at the world cup. That injury at celtic was such a shame

Metcalfe and Irvine starting. A win seals promotion. A draw means if Düsseldorf also wins its 6 points with 2 games left so nearly there. A loss would suck but Düsseldorf still need to catch up.

Düsseldorf lead. Hamburg scored but I felt it was wrongly taken back where the St Pauli defender tripped himself up.
Apparently Irvine crossed the halfway line while warming up and it led to a scuffle. Irvine must have an invisibility cloak as all photos don't feature him as everyone else came barging in. Nothing more laughable than someone in HSV gear trying to act tough. Joke of a club.

Hamburg score and it's Japan goal in Kaiserslautern again. Initially I felt the keeper did mistime his jump but to go in like that by the attacker. VAR rightly rules it out.

Düsseldorf make it 3:1. A draw for St Pauli will be OK. Still, win with 20min to go and promotion is confirmed.
Geez when I see the keeper quality in the first two tiers these days compared to when Langerak came in, he really entered during the holy grail.

Not the most aggressive of derbies tonight but Metcalfe has made a few good challenges from the side to steal the ball. St Pauli in two minds that a point is alright but like in the last round of a bout they know one final punch and the title is theirs.

Bloody hell Hamburg go down the other end and Metcalfe gets a really astute block away with the defenders and keeper swarming him with encouragement.
The ensuing corner sees a ridiculous charge by the keeper and the header goes in off one bounce. Might be given an own goal by Irvine as he heads it into the net in a last ditch scramble.
Not ideal but St Pauli host Osnabrück next so surely they'll do it at home.

Hamburg win. A setback for St Pauli but they're still looking fairly comfortable.

Interestingly looks like Bos has been playing LB for his club most weeks rather than the LW he plays for socceroos. Meanwhile Jason Davidson's Eupen are at the bottom of the table and look like they'll be relegated

Some great AA news.. Bolton won their first leg of thpromotiin semi final against Barnsley 1-3. Imagine they are likely through to the final now. Gethin Jones started at RCB in a 3, Iredale stayed on bench

Big big game today .. Ipswich and Leeds play their final fixtures at the same time. Ipswich 3 points up but behind Leeds on goal difference so a point will do it for Ipswich.. lose though and Leeds win and Leeds go up.
Fingers crossed for Luongo and Burgess.

No Souttar or Glover on final day. McGree still injured. Silvera bench. Luongo and Burgess starting in what is a massive day.

Underway in England and now that the ball is rolling you just know insane things can happen. Ipswich need to be wary.

It's the inevitable and maybe unavoidable part of growth but I do feel sorry for the Ipswich fans that will be priced out if they go up to the Premier League not to mention all the suits crawling back in having ditched the club when they needed support most.
