If you mean advocating for a two state solution that is true. If it means not being a zionist that is a fringe position amongst Jews comparable to cherry picking a bunch of Black republicans for their views on racism

And there has been a lot of eliminationist rhetoric and even more antisemitic language. Antisemetic hate crimes soared in the west after october 7 and before Israels response. It was already at a very high base.  Blood libel is also anti semitic and it has been common to project the worst crimes of the west onto israel which is blood libel

Fringe position? I don't think so. Would love to know where you get your numbers from.

Palestinians are Semitic people. I don't think there is any more hates crimes towards Jewish people than there is towards Muslims. Unfortunately, not everyone tolerates each others differences.

The vast majority of brittish jews identify as zionist

https://www.thejc.com/news/uk/eight-out-of-ten-british-jews-identify-as-zionist-says-new-poll-vu3f391c

80 percent of american jews have an emotional connection to israel

https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2021/05/11/u-s-jews-connections-with-and-attitudes-toward-israel/

While the identification with the label zionist has slipped to 63 percent of jews in america that is still a strong majority and a much larger percentage seem to agree with zionism when it is not given a name "do u agree that a jewish majority state by the name of israel should continue and maintain a distinctly jewish identity"

Around half of the worlds jews live in israel which is zionist by definition.
The percentage of jews worldwide who are either not loving in israel and are not zionist is around 10 percent, similar to the percent of black americans that agree with trumps views on race

As for who experiences the most hate crimes, pick a country. In usa before oct 7 60 percent of anti religious hate crimes were anti semitic

In australia it is true that anti muslim hate crimes are higher, but adjusted for population jews are targeted at a higher rate than both australian muslims and usa jews. In france christians and muslims have the most anti religious hate crimes, but again the populations tell a different story with Jews disproportuonately targeted

Giving me states on two or three countries only doesn't say much. Australia, the USA and UK account for about 500 million out of the world's 7 billion population.

Why should the Zionists be entitled to a land that the British had no right to give to them? Why should the Palestinians accept that their land be divided?

This reminds me of apartheid South Africa and they didn't divide that land.

Chasing down country by country statistics is a lot of work, I will see if I can get a comprehensive overview of antisemitism in every country. In any case the majority of the worlds jewish population is in the anglosphere and israel as they have been ethnically cleansed from the middle east and europe. So a picture of these countries is a pretty good picture of the Jewish world as a whole

As for your second question, there was a jewish majority living in at least jerusalem since then 1800s and jews were persecuted in Islamic countries, Christian countries and post Christian countries. Israel was conquered by the giant colonialist ottomon empire half a milenia ago who lost a war to the giant colonialist english empire in Brittian. Just as Brittian petitioned up up pakistan and india, they petitioned the middle east including most of the nations that are there now. Just as pakistan and india's petition was a mess, so was their proposed petition of the middle east. The Arab nations rejected the petition only when it came to the creation of Israel and declared war. When Israel won the war they took more territory and then in the 60s the arab states declared war again, lost again and Israel took more territory. In 2005 they gave back gaza out of good will and they elected Hamas whose charter calls for the genocide of Jews. Before the current war, Gaza and the west bank has a GDP per capita of 2000 USD which is the same as comparable states with comparable government systems  and comparable democracy indexes (Jordan and Egypt). Arab Israelis do have a lower gdp per captia than Jewish Israelis, indicating evidence of anti-palestinian prejudice within Israels borders, but the difference is around 60% and no where near the crazy 10-1 rates that you see in Aparthied africa or the massive wealth gap even in post Jim Crow USA.

In any case, Israel isn't perfect and its creation is messy but so many countries have messy beginnings, we hunted the aboriginals like fauna stole their kids and still have an insane gap. However, children of the children of the children of those who created Isreal live there now. It has a right to exist and there is no way to get rid of it without massive culling of Jewish lives. We have to make sure there is a peaceful 2 state solution as the least bad option

You don't need to tell me the history of Israel. Have you read up on the potential locations they had in mind for the Zionist state?

Why should the Palestinians pay for the crimes of the Europeans? If the Zionists wanted their own homeland, maybe they should have been given half of Germany.

Have you seen the videos of elderly Zionists laughing at the fact that they burnt and raped Palestinians during the Nakba?

For me, it has to be a one state solution where Jewish, Muslim and Christian people live side by side with the support of the world. If that can't happen, it needs to be the original borders drawn up by the UN. Palestinians should be allowed to determine their own future in that state, not controlled by Israel.

P.S. I think we are just going to have to agree to disagree.. I'm not changing my opinion on the situation and I'm sure you aren't either.

well its not just the europeans, jews have been persecuted for milenia in muslim countries, the majority of jews in israel today are not from a european background because they have been ethnically cleansed in muslim countries. Palestinians aren't paying for the crimes of europe, the colonial ottomon empire were defeated and brittian petitioned up their conquered land like they did everywhere - leaving a mess everywhere, just like pakistan. The Arabs got a ton of states including neighbouring Jordan and Egypt. They rejected the idea of the Jews having their land, declared war, lost and Israel took a larger territory than the un plan. The land was taken from Jordan and Egypt as there was no concept of palestine until later (though the romans did call it palestine as an insult)

The case for zionism is that Jews have not been safe in any country they have been in and that is certainly true in muslim majority countries as well as Christian and atheist countries. I understand the principle of wanting all countries to be secular, pluralistic democracies, but it seems reckless to put a vulnerable persecuted minority's necks on the chopping block for those principles, especially when the majority are refugees from muslim majority countries

The original borders are an impossibility without huge force against israel and I don't see the relevance of videos of Jews doing awful things. That is how bigotry spreads and there isn't a people group in the world where you couldn't dig up a bunch of videos of horrific things being said by them

Decent 6 minute summary of their troubled history

it is and a nightmare of complexity

it is interesting to see how far apart the sides are

here is Al Jazeera

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI_spMxp6t8

and here is an american right wing think tank but reasonably accurately giving the center right Israeli perspective

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btVFgqkgkzw

hard to see peace there in my lifetime. But the troubles ended, so who knows

Uh OK buddy... thats ummm, good... well done... clean up when you are finished and remember not to indulge too much you'll go blind.

One of the great pleasures in life!!! Maybe you should try it, you need to lighten your load a bit & allow you to be so judgmental of things you don't understand or don't like!!!
Life too short to worry about telling people they are wrong.

Only right they are expelled, whilst many countries have committed war crimes, Israel's actions are distinct as there have been dozens of Palestinian footballers killed by Israeli airstrikes, including Mohammed Barakat, who played for the Palestine national football team!

That is shocking news, that Palestinian national team footballers have been killed.

I think Israel should be banned from playing international football. I'm biased because I demonstrate every week with Tas Palestine Action Network and Tas Friends of Palestine.

I' m also involved in the Aus Education Union developing a  peace group protesting against genocide in Gaza.  Furthermore, I've been involved in Unions' Tas hosting a Palestinian speaker to shed light on the Gaza conflict in a presentation to a large  audience.

Subsequently, a few of us, including leaders of the Tas union movement, thought the speaker was a bit crazy and inflammatory and will circumvent him in the future for a speaker with more tact, and diplomacy. At the same time he presented professionally and it was informative in terms of content and style.

I'm also a member of Labor Against War and the new Labor Friends of Palestine groups.

However, I'm demonstrating for a cease fire and peace, not in any way as a supporter of Hamas's aggressive action in early October and taking Israeli hostages.

Originally I didn't commit because  of Hamas's actions in early October. It is awful  that  Palestinian civilians and children have being attacked and have died for months. According to Amnesty, who tend to be pretty impartial, about 50 - 60% of Palestinians support Hamas. Pretty hard on the 50-60% of Palestinians who don't support Hamas. There are  Israelis demonstrating against their own government launching war - wanting negotiations to release Israeli hostages instead.

I'm also concerned about anti - Semitism too. The problem  perceived by many in political spheres is that it is a long time since Israel has  had a progressive government. It has been conservative for a long time - essentially  hawkish by supporting settlers' aggressive actions against Palestinians.

Essentially though, Israel should be banned from FIFA ATM - like Russia  has been for invading Ukraine. There may be cogent arguments as to why some other countries could also be banned  from FIFA too.

I don’t care who is right or wrong or know.

But it’s obvious that Israel are depraved and are enjoying seeing children suffer. It’s actually sick

Remember the thread  topic is about Israel's potential expulsion  from FIFA - not the rights and wrongs of the Gaza conflict.

It is incredible that Palestinian players can live in Gaza, or even the West Bank, and play pro football - and - play as well as they are ATM as an international team - given   the current war.

Same with syria and ukraine and iraq in 07

The ratoinale for excluding russia is not a moral one imo (after all, quite a few countries have done worse than what russia has done in ukraine or israel in gaza or what hamas did to israel) it is that russia is a country with 4000 nuclear weapons that has ambitions for a lot of territory. In the last 100 years it seems that european nations with large territorial ambitions can get the whole world involved.

So u need every deterrance possible to end the war so a dictator doesnt take down their whole world in their lust for power.
