Not sure why sometimes you can drag and drop or paste images and sometimes you can't. I literally saw it drop into the box above.

Yeah it's weird. Happens on my home computer, but if I paste a picture from my work computer, it works fine.

Any chance whatever you're using is running Windows 11?

Only suggestion I can make is to wait after pasting to make sure it appears in the preview page.
I've only started pasting the images directly in the last page or so - before then I was embedding a link. But I've noticed that even pasting the image on this page - there's at least one dead image icon in one of my posts, not sure how that happens if I've pasted the image directly and it did originally work.
