You are 100% right on the fact clubs havent gained entry to this league on sporting merit... Im 100% behind you, but .... and its a big but ..... something has to start somewhere....

I agree 'things need to get going' but
  1. Clubs leaving the State Leagues for their own reasonsto join a closed shop
  2. then wanting to come back for some unknown reason
  3. at some unknown time
  4. and expecting 6 clubs to drop a division to accomodate them

is not a fair and proper functioning Pyramid (that apparently everyone has always wanted)

you are expecting merit when its a new league, granted closed but not at the same time once its had a season maybe 2 who knows, any Club can submit their intent and being new there is standards to meet plain and simple And it needs time to settle in for the participating Clubs and the FA/Feds to see how this pans out.
As long as the comp goes to plan then it will open up, you can't predict the tea leaves until it starts/finishs wouldn't you agree ?
The Qld situation of what happens when once open where does the relegated Club fit back in is egg before the chicken to me at this premature stage.
Wouldn't you think prior to anything as such occurring it will being nutted out in the FA boardroom incl the Feds.
It will be fair once the dust has settled.
All will need to come to some kind of compramise sooner or later.

So the NPL League plays without knowing what you need to Survive whilst another League dictates ?

"3rd bottom survives, maybe, we'll let you know after the season has ended"

Can happen. You know you need to finish one extra position than the confirmed relegation spots to absolutely confirm survival.

To be 100% fair, I haven't seen it happen in a relegation context, but it's the same reasoning applied to positions being adjusted for Champions League qualifications, etc.
Just remember, I'm following a team in Italy that is in the promotion mix to Serie B, despite finishing 13th in the league, and facing relegation on the final matchday. If it's outlined before the season starts, and is reasonably fair/justified, it should be fair game.

On the other note of Queensland though... Once it's all been outlined. I mean... if P/R connected to the NST happens almost immediately, I agree with their stance 100%.
If it's coming in a long period of time (5+ years), then I think just folding them into the existing system is a necessary evil for the good of the wider game.

Sorry, you've lost me.  The Seasons run at the same time, how does your plan work ?

Dude its not MY plan.... I dont have answers to your questions, just a feeling that this needs to be played for a full season before we can even begin to fathom how the fark to promote/relegate from it.... I want it all (like you I presume) tomorrow but this is Australia, "we unique" remember?

Well these are the types of questions that should be asked and clarified and put together by the FA and the 8 connected Member Feds.

There's nothing wrong with having an odd amount of teams in a tier. Eg, one of the QPL 3 tiers only has 7 clubs this season (Darling Downs), and there is a State League 1 and State League 5 tier in Victoria each with 11 clubs.

Simple as having something in the competition regulations for each state along the lines of:

"If a team from this member federation is relegated from the National Second Division at the end of this season, the promotion/relegation between leagues is as such: [Outline of altered structure]
In all other instances, this is the promotion/relegation structure between each league [outline state's P/R structure]"

hahaha . If NPL QLD has 14 clubs and only one is promoted to it from league below (instead of two) when/if a QLD NST is relegated that makes 14 teams... thats all I as trying to point out....

thats the big trillion $ question, where is more from JJ and the rest.
They must be talking and talking who knows, bloody well hope so for all of us.

You may or may not know last season NSW NPL went to 16 Club comps or was this season lol I can't recall.
IF I recall right we used to have PL4, that has been changed, no more.
I think 3 went up each level - to 1 then 2 then 3 - no PL4.
Obviously no merit for the 2/3rd Clubs from 2/3 eh.
Just so they got 16 in each level expanding for more games.

Some Clubs may have barked etcetc, and the Clubs that were once below PL4 didn't earn the right to be promoted above the level they once were.

All I see it that its just aligning the Levels more appropiate to work with more numbers/Clubs each division.
Its an adjustment but it plays out in the end.

Having tentative promotion and relegation spots in nothing new. As long as it's known before the season starts, it's not that hard.
Ideally you always want the premiers being automatically promoted, and a second club promoted from playoffs. So you'll always need two clubs being relegated, with a third "tentative" relegation slot dependent on an NST club getting relegated. And then it just flows down the tiers in the same way. If you want to be guaranteed safety, don't finish third last or lower!

I heard some pretty concerning rumours last night about NSD start date... Two Sydney (self declared football capital of Australia) clubs are not yet ready for 2025 kickoff and are pushing to delay the launch till 2026 to raise funds as sponsorships hoped for have not yet materialised....  FA is sticking to its guns as contracts have been signed for broadcast and commercial partners.. They better put a team on the park in March 2025 or they face legal action....

FFS. This is why FA need to aim for at least 12 clubs because some will drop off and can't be relied upon. Gotta have at least 8 clubs to get this off the ground. Having one club in SA, Tasmania, Queensland/Gold Coast, ACT would have to better for getting sponsors behind one club per town (where have I heard that before haha!). Five clubs in NSW is scraping things a bit thin.

This is a bit of a tricky one. I bet it's a heck of a lot easier to shore up sponsors if you could tell the sponsors things like when the league will be played, which states/cities will be participating, how many games will there be, will it be broadcast and on what networks/platforms, etc.

All this is hidden behind NDA and sponsors are well aware of what is happening, which is why South and Preston (from what I hear) have had no trouble getting quite a few new sponsors on board for next year... I know nothing about Avondale (although conjecture is that they are relying on the one benevolant godfather to fund the whole passion project... at least while he is still interested)
I was told we would have had an announcement last week, but the latest rumblings from a certain club are causing friction between the 8 "originals" and surprise surprise it is forming along state lines...... FA is keen to announce their new media deal AND the new league together but the bloody "effniks" are at it again.... hahahahahah

This thing will kick off in one way or another next March... I just hope it is worth the 20 year wait.

Up until last week I have been assured... (could all be bullshit, Im just a dude on the internet ... without a sport specific FA Scientific BPO coaching qualification)
2 more clubs have signed on the dotted line... waiting on financial assurances to clear.
2 other clubs are umming and ahhinng but have verbally agreed to go ahead,
broadcast partners are aligned with FA new broadcast deal but distribution to clubs is basically peanuts. (contra agreements for marketing the league and some help with travel/accommodations is what I hear)
March 2025 kickoff is a 100% go ahead
3 states for sure possibly 4 will be represented in the first year.
Major league sponsor is keen and has kicked up a decent amount of both prize money and marketing budget.
FA has already allocated staff and resources behind it.
As per Mike, the trademark has been granted for "Australian Championship" as of 7th June.

I seriously don't see what the problem is re pro/rel in the NSD.

Why can't the NPL comps simply include a bye if someone comes down but no-one goes up from that state?

I recall a major sponser and broadcast partners were committed sometime ago.
I know whats mentioned could be opposite but I just got to have faith what JJ/FA are up to.....and the Clubs doing the right thing business wise and inline with FA.
As long as they both hang in work together the hope is there.

MCleansheets its setting higher boundaries of complaince for operations ahead, not every Club has the suitable facilites, backing etcetc - if only it was that plain and simple as yesteryear.
