+xI have finally reached the point of not caring anymore... Ange was right.... I am so over the infighting, insane claims, ..... just countless years of crap, .... No one ever in my life time [70 years old] or no body has come close to ever getting on top of things... Decades of poor to hopeless management, countless little empires, so much duplication across the country.... so much death riding whats not your choice of things... I am out of it, will just go to watch the Mariners matches, what whoever streams Australian Football.... and go to Socceroos matches when I can... Well said Mid, now your talking my language :)

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xMSC I saw earlier this arvo my very devoted Lions supporter and insider. He/they is pissed with the FA,depending what becomes they will consider going legal towards them. Told ya..... If you had told me 20 years ago that Preston and Hellas would be on the same side IN ANYTHING I would have laughed at you.... Will they have a good case? It's not about having a case. It's about sending a message to somebody that appears incredibly dense to be talking about "a champions league" despite a period of years of being told "no". They have this ridiculous notion that it's still in the conversation. So yes, you sit down at that table with a lawyer and try to pentrate their skulls saying "look at this. it's a lawyer. this is how no the no is. does this look like a yes to you?" That is EXACTLY what 7 clubs have now done. APIA is refusing to participate according to my source. Also two other clubs, that can't be named because they have signed NDA with FA and I don't wanna burn them, are in principle part of this legal action. JJ and the NST management team are in Paris at the moment and havent been in communication with ANYONE from NST Clubland for at least 7 days now.... They threw that Champions League barb out and disappeared. Club committees were told that NOTHING will be announced until the FA team return from Paris and clubs are getting antsie. Olympics finishes on 11th Aug, I would say if there is NO FA announcement by 15th the legal proceedings will commence... Watch this space. Are APIA refusing to participate in NST or legal? So what happened to the rumoured done deals of Tassie and Caroline Springs? Have potential clubs thrown the towel in after doing all they can to get in? So damn frustrating! I can't see legal working out well, not sure there's much of a leg to stand on there. As far as I know, it's been a continuation of the same criteria that the 8 clubs joined with, that was always the plan. Maybe the original clubs could stump up the missing security for the 2-4 additional clubs? There has to be a workable solution somewhere... The foundation clubs have rock solid legal case as I understand it mate, contract signed on the basis of a full h/a season based on FA's 2025 competition calendar.. Only way FA can implement a CL model (again as I understand it) is if it goes for the same March-August time period..... Two clubs are waiting on announcement and another two "in the wings" as I understand it .... looks like we will know one way or the other soon :P Cheers. Wow. Makes me wonder WTF FA would be thinking by not going ahead with H&A. What is their motivation for backing out? It really wouldn't cost them much to get up and running with just 12 clubs excluding WA, so it can't be money. The unnerving costs are with the clubs. I know FA wanted to be vigilant to ensure clubs don't go under or abandon the competition... It seems they might have to lower that bar and everyone crosses fingers it takes off. It's kinda like two options now, lawyer up and embarrass ourselves again, or lower the bar and possibly embarrass ourselves hahaha ahhhh man... Maybe JJ throws out the "champions league" option as a last resort only, maybe thinking it would less embarrassing if the league didn't get up? Mate, the thought processes, what are they thinking 🤯 Yep, clock's ticking! Mate there are two fairly powerful lobby groups in Australian football that stand to lose the most with a successful NST, both for different reasons. Its no coincidence (at least in my mind) that the most vocal "sceptics" on this league ever working seems to be the APL and 2 state federations (also ABSOLUTELY no coincidence that these particular states have been touted as the 'next cab off the rank" for an Aleague franchise license btw). JJ and the FA may be overly cautious but I think its because this is a one time roll of the dice... , CL option (at least in my thinking) is the FA trying to throw the APL a bone here, sort of a peace pipe offering for them to get involved .. FA is flush with moolah, but they dont wanna piss it away like Townsend and Co did,

So where are we at now?
NST is all but a dream. Federations didn't help. But ultimately there weren't enough clubs to force the hand of FA to push through with it. The expectations were just too high. 🫣
Champions League? I'm guessing an expanded NPL Championship. Champions league and with the 8-10 "NST" clubs doesn't make sense.
Legal action. My info is some clubs are keen to pursue. Other clubs not so much.Do they have a case? Which clubs have lawyers on their boards? 🤔 Some clubs, I hear, totally given up on NST.
Wonder how this will be spun by JJ. 🍿🍿

As I have always suspected, the decade long delay in implementing a 2nd Division tells me that nobody in the FFA/FA or the APL wants this to get off the ground.

+xShould we be expecting any news this week? What is the latest on the rumour mill? I think FA is too busy putting out Matildas fires this week... maybe next week... TBH nobody was really talking about it on the weekend, too focused on winning another cup final and worrying about the quick turn around to the Australia Cup game AND the the chance to ice the premiers plate on Saturday... On pitch performance is a nice distraction, tomorrow night, I suspect the club guys will be too busy hosting (I believe JJ and a few other FA heads may attend) to press anyone for info ...

I suspect nothing to communicate. Tonight, the focus will be on Aus Cup remaining games and draw.

Maybe they'll need another round of meetings? Probably won't be any news until that happens, I guess. One article said that nothing will happen until after the Olympics, nearly there. We wait...

smpete seemed bullish after the 1st day of the 2 day fa board meeting a couple of weeks ago but seems to have his hopes fading since
It sounds like 1) we could have a nst with lower entry requirements. There are enough clubs that could enter if the only additional requirements were the extra travel 2) we have 7 clubs that can manage the fa's minimum requiements in 2025, with apia pledging they can in 2026. There is a rumour of 2 others being possible 2) it is very difficult to convince the powers that be (seems like the pfa in particular) to have a lower standard nst 3) we are committed to kick off next year 4) the aafc are refusing (rightly, unless it is just a 1 year bridge imo) a champions league model
Is this right?

It is imperative that with every meeting between FA, Pfa & Aafc, that there are wraps, sandwiches & juices in the middle of the boardroom table. There must be no less than two meetings per year for 10 more years then a start to the NST in 2034, with the view to revise the possibility of pro/rel, only to postpone this highly important issue, until at least 2045.

I wonder whats going through JJ's mind over the recent Aus Cup results by the NPL's between all these lunch's and discussions in the midst going no where.

With Football Australia chief executive James Johnson having returned from the Paris Olympics, in-person talks over the NST's future will take place in coming weeks, with the federation remaining adamant that it will launch, in some form, a "sustainable" competition in 2025. https://www.espn.com.au/football/story/_/id/40769513/pfa-football-australia-needs-players-national-second-tier

+x it is very difficult to convince the powers that be (seems like the pfa in particular) to have a lower standard nst Is this right? Busch said that the player's union's last formal involvement in the NST's development came in 2020. "Ultimately, we've had no invitation to participate," said Busch. "We've asked for updates and tried to find out more about that, but outside of what we've read in the media, and sort of one briefing that we had with Football Australia a number of years ago, where they updated us on progress, we haven't been involved. https://www.espn.com.au/football/story/_/id/40769513/pfa-football-australia-needs-players-national-second-tier

I wouldn't want to invite Busch either. I would invite 'can do or make it happen' people. Pfa are not brave enough..Now I don't want a crap response to this reality.

Just let the damn thing run without the ridiculous financial requirements. Can you afford to cover your current staff, your away transport and your home ground - then welcome aboard. Theoretically all it should require is the extra travel cost for away games that the now greater distance brings. Apart from that, anything else is a bonus. If teams can't afford the extra bells and whistles on top of the travel costs, then start without those extras. I just don't freakin' get it and it drives me insane!

3 NSW clubs apparently want a delay in a h&a season I can live with a one year delay, similar to what happened with the a league, I guess if you have a champions league for 1 year as long as it is only 1 year. Don't want it to be "next year" every year

Don't want it to be "next year" every year Weve ALREADY had a one year delay.... If 3 NSW clubs cant get their act together, then well have to do it with 5 clubs to start off with... The 3 NSW clubs can get together for their "Champions league" maybe they can get destination NSW to chip in for a magic oogaa boogaaa round too.
