Women's hockey eliminated to China. FFS they cruise to win the group and China were 4th in their group. Apparently a very controversial VAR call was made. Frustrating and hockey needs a review after these eliminations.

Australian teams lack the ticker they used to have.  A similar thing happened with the 3x3 basketball.
A cultural shift seems to have happened in the past decade.

Aye we lost the water polo as well 

Assuming it is the decision I think - the ball clearly bounced off the Chinese player's thigh in the lead up which should have seen the goal it disallowed. VAR decided they could not definitively say it hit the leg rather than 'just missing' when my eyes saw it hit and deflect clearly.

But the Chinese team were playing much better hockey and we looked to be playing like the Socceroos - across the back and down the sides then back round again and largely ignoring the centre. We kept trying to turn 1 on 3 into a winning situation up the wing and got stifled and turned the ball over almost every time we got it. We also did not show any passion or urgency in our play until the end of the 4th quarter when it was too late.

Looked like the team played within themselves expecting a result when they still had to earn it. Huge shame for the players after doing so much better in previous games. We looked strangely disjointed.

Great effort by Noemie Fox to make the Kayak cross final. Both Australian men crash out. It's just top 2 each race each round to a final 4 so really challenging stuff. Surprised no one has whacked another Kayaker due to frustration when they crash and hinder progress. 

Get in! Noemie Fox wins gold. What an effort and being in her sister's shadow gets her own massive moment. The way she used the current to save energy while the others struggled.

Bit of luck on the last reverse red where the British nudged her right in the spot to see her turn and go forth and then the British was like a cat in a bathtub trying to get composed

Really happy for her the plaents aligned each of her runs kudos on her reading the currents and flow and importantly her competitors style in the final.

Serbia lead by 2 with 9 sec to go. It's just so annoying to have led by that much and to allow the opponent back into it. Australia will get a chance and maybe the clock will stop again.

Serbia win in OT. Australia had a 3 point lead and the ball and just kept stuffing simple stuff.

Australia with WR in men's team cycling sprint and will face GB tomorrow for gold. Silver guaranteed. Men's team pursuit catch up to win Bronze against France. 

H2H really cutthroat and close. Wouldn't mind a format of having to race against all other 5 nations and seeing some accumulated total time.

Australia athletics starting to fade with eliminations. Women's 1500m look alright. Sailing postponed so that potential medal to wait. Women's water polo beat Greece and into semis.

This is actually a HUGE result .. Greece's mens and women's water polo is traditionally very strong, they have a pro league and everything. 

USA v Brazil final in the women's football. USA completely battered Germany again, but couldn't score until extra time. Didn't see the 2nd game, but Brazil won 4-2 with Spain scoring one very late. The European teams pretty disappointing, they were meant to be taking over women's football.

GO Brazil ! pretty happy for ol Marta, she has been a dynamo for the womens game especially south america with a similar Pele kind of rags to richs from the womens perspective.
So she served her red card missing the Qtr/Semi so can play the Final.
Huge for her record is not good in finals having lost most if not all contested.

Actual been reading that there's a shift back to the US as all of their teams are completely separated from the MLS and are becoming more professional than those in Europe.

Interesting as a few of our girls have made their way there.

Not that this means anything in particular but the last WNSL franchise went for USD $180 million making them the most valuable women's team in the world. 

Would be great for Marta to finish with a Gold. As a bonus the US would lose.

On another matter saw a wag write on twitter - 'you'd think the US would do better in the shooting events'

Well they just bought the 2 Zambian blokes that scored 5 against us as well for record fees to the WNSL, so atleast the standard will be very good. I guess womens football should always be very good over there, they get more of the top women athletes and it shows with Rodman and them. Its not like the men who compete with the other top US sports worth billions.  

Apparently Spain dominated possession but didnt create much, it would have been nice to see a Spain USA final as they seem the best 2 teams by a long way. Hopefully Brazil can win, the USA have had back to back 120 minute games, surely that has some impact when playing 6 games in 2 weeks. Brazil host the next world cup as well, so gold be huge for them leading into that in a few years.

A golden half hour for Australia with the men's skateboarding and men's team pursuit. Such a tense final against GB but Australia in decent control. GB were catching in the final 1000m but they had a rider slip up on the final round which might have meant a 2 rider finish is illegal. Australia most probably would've won by the barest of margins.

Women's pole vault looks promising.
