In an explosive development, News Corp reports that during his career Balic was placed into the AFL’s controversial “medical model” that opens the door for players to take illicit substances without facing penalties.

According to the report, Balic’s death has become the focus of a Sports Integrity Australia (SIA) investigation.

The Australian anti-doping watch dog in March said it had begun assessing allegations made by Federal MP Andrew Wilkie surrounding the sport’s illicit drug policy.

Is there is any more insure sport in Australia than the AFL? Happy to take stadiums away from world cups to releasing league match schedules during Australia vs Argentina in the World Cup game but are happy to promote their own vile to get free clicks? 

Serious question. Are there a lot of drugs in our domestic football compared to footy and rugby? And how about domestic violence? Every month in the other codes someone's girlfriend is being bashed and someone else is caught doing lines, but our code seems pretty quiet on those fronts.

Footballers in Australia nobody would give a shite it wouldn't make the news. Not sure about other countries 

Don't know about "compared to footy and rugby" but recreational drugs, yes, yes there are.... 

I'm probably stereotyping a bit but...
All sports have their share of idiots, but I'd suggest that AFL & Rugby have a somewhat higher %age of meatheads, so there's a bit more drug use & DV than the statistical average.


You also shouldn't have any doubts about embedded the AFL is with the Police - at least in Victoria.
