Chipperfield did nothing to get people's hopes up. People got their hopes up because they wanted to create a story that didn't exist. As for Socceroo stars not coming home for a long time, good. It means they'll be fitter and better prepared for international matches and tournaments. Good of the Socceroos > Good of the A-League. If the A-League wants more quality, it will have to wait on the fruits of the NYL and grass roots systems.

Sorry buddy but I saw a one on one interview with him on TWG and he said he was 99.5% sure that he was coming home next season. He could of florished here as does Moore with the lesser demanding schedule.

Yup as usual all quiet on the Glory news. Perth has a double whammy with media coverage - any eastern states news is eastern centric and all Perth media is AFL centric.
I know f1dave has said this before on GBs (he probably put it better too), but with this sort of situation Glory really needs to be releasing more information to the media instead of relying on the media to find news on Glory for them. I want to know how Dadi is doing with his loan side, I want to know if Coyne got his loan deal, how are Glory players doing in the state league, interviews with new signings (Neville, Jukic) etc etc.

Guys it's ok, normal even, to be relatively quiet at this time of the year. The only clubs where we've seen any real consistent coverage recently are teh two ACL sides and mayeb Gold Coast and North Queensland, as per usual.
We haven't hear THAT much from the rest, not recently anyway.
It's normal because clubs have got to have SOME time off lol. It IS off season and pre-season doesn't officially start till April.
Sure we're all hoping thatkey figures at Glory, like Sagey, Gooch and Mitchell are NOT sitting on their arses atm, and ARE scurying away trying to arrange things for the coming season. But it's ok if most of that stuff stays in house - until some developments are announcement worthy (I.e. Everton Friendly, Player Signings etc...).
Though in saying that, it would be rather nice if we could hear, like we do with Miron on the Gold Coast, if say, 'Mitchell to go on Asian Recruiting Mission' or something, where he travels over to some AFC countries to watch several fixtures from different leagues, to scout for some quality players to fill key positions here. Also, utilising that 3+1 AFC rule, so if we do somehow qualify for the 2011 ACL, then atleast we have a quality AFC guy we can squeeze in.
Many leagues, like the C-League, K-League, aswell as SE Asian leagues - Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia etc... are running/starting up now, so it may be the perfect time now, to travel over there and do some serious observation.
Surely we could find our own 'Song' like players or we could lead the way for the A-League, by unearthing stars from new frontiers (for the league), like SE Asia.

As I said it doesn't have to be anything major, it'd just be nice to hear about our beloved Glory and what's going on with our current playing staff. Keep the team on the radar so to speak.

yeh agreed ... im not fussed if its not major news ... just something at least to keep the fans in touch with the club and wats happening.
Fair enough if it's off season, but yet saying that the off season AFL news still made it before soccer in the media ... which i totally dont understand ... and cant stand the AFL bias in perth and with the media networks

BTW How bout this guy, as a non-marquee visa player, to replaced Trinidad? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teko_ModiseHe's the guy who scored the second goal for South Africa in the friendly they played against us, in August of last year. From around 3min40secs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxKaQ0LctwENice technique on the strike. Though I guess it helps they were playing on a good football pitch. That Nkosi, who scored the first goal - he was with Bielefeld, but joined Maccabi Netanya in Israel early this year. He'd surely be within range too, within wage rate. South Africans are worth considering, even though some players may well be earning similar, if not better, wages in that PSL. But the wage difference would not be much, if anything - especially given the Aussie Dollar to the Rand? Anyway, Teko Modise Born Dec 1982 - 26 years of age AM/CM Capped 30 times for SA, score am impressive 9 times for a MF, including that goal against us. -Has yet to leave South Africa's domestic league. -Is an ever present in SA's NTs. In 2008, he became the inaugural PSL Footballer of the Year. (For their Domestic League) Modise was recently appointed ambassador by global company McDonald's for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Sure of few of these things might mean he could be a little more expensive than some of us may presume. But we could still fit him in within the cap, especially on a wage rate not unlike Trinidad or Amaral were on - Amaral probably at the high end. This guy WILL feature at the 2010 World Cup and like Carlos Hernandez I feel his stock will sky rocket at the World Cup, depending how well South Africa do in their group. Regardless he's a great age with his best still ahead of him. Language and culture will be minimal issues too. There's a large ex-pat South African community in Perth, which can help too - both in terms of support for the player here/comfort and in terms of drawing a few South Africans/Africans to support the team at Glory Matches. He's a technically skilled player who offers something different/more than what we have locally/domestically and he'd be around within budget. Mitchell PLEASE give him a look over! nice find! i'm all for finding gems in the lesser known leagues as they obviously command a lot less salary wise. some people ride around with the tag that they have played in the EPL and so forth even though they are clearly not up to EPL standard. thai players are a favourite of mine they are super quick and very skillful with the ball and most of them play in their domestic competition.

We could easily find a Thai player, NT player, who would fit within both a 'Trinidad mould' and 'Trinidad wage rate' wise (Even cheaper? :o). Interesting, Adrian Trinidad WAS an import in Malaysia and Indonesia or what have you, so presumably he would've been one of the more higher paid players in that league/those leagues. Indonesia has a bit of talent too, as they showed in that 0-0 draw against our A-League based side. I really like this South African, Modise. It's not like we don't know of him - as we see on Youtube (And as I remember), he impressed against our full NT, in that August friendly. Guys like this are interesting. Sure 'kind of' left field, but then again, not soo much, when one looks into it. Guys like Modise are far LESS of a risk than bringing over random imports from South America for instance. As too some Thai NT players tbh - especially if we play these teams in pre-season. Note to Glory: Do a pre-season tour of Indonesia again, or Thailand! It's funny we toured Indonesia last year and who did we pick up? The Argentinian Trinidad and the Brazilian Amaral! lol Not an Indonesian in sight. Same deal with Victory signing that Ney Fabiano from Chonbuk (Though yes, he was a suitable signing). There were some other Thai players, wingers I think, who made some impression, but not even rumours about them. Maybe next time? Though the dam A-League (Kaz Syndrome) perception probably still persists that 'many Asians' are 'too small and too slight,' for our league. Maybe they're right, given the perpetrating attitudes of our coaches. Though with more clubs playing ACL fixtures, this may change.

He is good and we really need another good cm/am to complement shroj/amaral and would be a good pick up, depends what the wages are over in South Africa, i have no idea.
Was talking to a mate today about getting good, cheap players from the Subcontinent, not sure how many there is though.

Its a possibility that we've looked at him. since we were looking at Salmon who also plays over there. doubt we'd get such a good pick up though. thats the sad thing.

I used to just kick around on sundays and that was it for me.
