Chelsea Dagger all the way. Be good if they played bound for Glory when the teams were coming onto the field or when we one.

Anyway, the news:

Quote:
Glory picks short straw in fixture draw

Perth Glory could return to Subiaco Oval to take on A-League glamour club Sydney FC this year- with the club's usual home of Member's Equity Stadium booked out for the weekend to house a major mystery musical act.

The A-League draw for the 2010 season was released by the FFA today and immediately placed the Glory on the back foot with two away games in the first two weeks and five in the first eight rounds.

The Glory's first home game of the season will clash with a Dockers home game against Essendon on Sunday August 23, which is likely to impact the gate.

And a nightmare patch in January will see the Glory play three games in six, with an away game against Melbourne followed by a Tuesday night clash in Adelaide and a home tie against Wellington three days later.

Two away trips to the new A-League clubs Gold Coast United and North Queensland Fury will mean Perth fans will just get the one chance to see the former Liverpool legend play in Perth, on Saturday October 3.

But they may get to watch their team at the home of Perth's AFL sides, with a provisional booking to play Sydney at Subiaco on Sunday Nov 22, because a major act had booked Member's Equity Stadium in the days previously.

A Glory spokesman said the club was working closely with both stadia, and the fixture could change.

A home game on Boxing Day was a massive boost, given the success of last season when more than 12,000 turned up to watch the defeat to Adelaide.

Glory will host Sydney FC, Melbourne Victory, Queensland Roar and Newcastle Jets twice during the season.

The A-League have also accommodated the Glory's arduous trips to the Gold Coast by scheduling two mini-tours, with back to back away games against Gold Coast United and North Queensland in October and December.

Former Liverpool and England striker Fowler will make his A-League debut for newcomers North Queensland Fury against Sydney FC in Townsville - the start of a season now comprising 27 rounds, six more than previous seasons.

The format for the finals series has also expanded and will now involve the top six teams instead of the previous top four.

They will involve seven matches and offer more chances for the top two teams in the regular season.

lol chelsea dagger is the best ... its the thing u look forward to know at glory games, dancing around to it after your team scores is great

i rekon keep chelsea dagger after glory goals ... and play bound for glory before the game as the team walks out onto the pitch, and at half time when the team walks out again ... and then if glory win, play it after the final whistle.

defintely need to bring back steve armstrong for pre-match and half time entertainment though lol that guy was the king

Some quite decent options for second striker, most available on end of this season, free transfers:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svetoslav_Todorov

Capped 42 time for Bulgaria from 98 to 07 and his contract with Charlton is up end of this season. Only 30 going 31 this year. Would not necessarily need to be Marquee, though could be?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Bridges

The guy who had that short but quite reasonable stint with Sydney FC, in the 07/08 season? His contract with Hull City is up end of this season and he's still only 30 going 31. Would not need to be Marquee either.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Cadamarteri

Contracted at League One Huddersfield expires end of this season, former Everton star in his younger days, playing nearly 93 EPL games earlier this decade, scoring 13 goals. Played Championship with Bradford City and Sheffield United, in the middle of this decade. Capped 3 times for England's Under 21s. Hasn't a huge goal scoring record, but he should have pace and should create alot and may even score more, in this league. Only 29 going 30 this year. Was banned from the game for 6 months in 2006 for drug use. Certainly not a Marquee, but would be a good VISA signing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Jeffers

This guy would be great as a non Marquee, but could be a decent Marquee. Unfortunately he still has 1 year left on his Sheffield Wednesday contract. He's only 28 going 29 Jan next year and I think many of us may be familiar with him, from his Everton days and he received his only cap for England in that famous/infamous friendly international against the Socceroos, where England interchanged their entire side at half time and we went on to win, 3-1. Interesting, he was the guy who scored England's solitary goal. He'd be an awesome striker partner for Dadi - I'd love to see us try and sign him on a free, early next year, if he does no re-sign with Wednesday.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emile_Mpenza

Awesome club and international career and only 30/31, but too similar to Dadi in terms of being a bigger build striker? But that may not matter, given his obvious class. He'd be a great Marquee actually.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_Peng

Would probably be hard to prize away and quite expensive. Language may be an issue too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wang_Song

Could be similar to the above, but, his girlfriend is apparently an Aussie. :o 8)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Jansen

This 31 year old, former Blackburn star is surely worth a trial, atleast? As too a fellow short-term contractee at Wrexham, Christian Gyan, who I've mentioned a few times obviously. Conference based Wrexham have some interesting guys in their squad.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Connolly

With EPL side Sunderland, but hasn't featured for them much, recent two seasons, since they re-entered the EPL. Awesome club and international career though and still only 31 going 32.

I've said it before too, but Lomana Lua Lua would be a great and quite realistic, Marquee, I'd think?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lomana_LuaLua

Might compliment Dadi nicely. He has had some recent injuries etc.. but our shorter season should help, as too the better medical standards in our country.

GloryPerth - How much time do you have on your hands?!

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Subiaco will be poor for the Sydney game. We aren't gonna be able to fill a quarter of it if we get the crowds we did last year, not to mention it's an oval and the atmosphere will be bad.

Nope I'm not a member of the GSSC mate, best bet would be to ask on gloryboys.net few of the GSSC guys lurk around there.

If anyone is interested in going to Adelaide the GSSC is doing their usual bus trip and some of us GFU boys are probably going to organize a trip over by plane. Will keep you all posted. Check out gloryboys.net for updates or details on the Adelaide bus trip

Found some decent players though. :)

Hmm when we play Wolves, maybe Mitch might see a player he likes and is gettable, in that match? Especially considering that promoted teams often make wholesale changes to their squads, or bring in like a dozen new players, in an attempt to compete in the EPL?

Perth Glory’s revival as a football powerhouse has taken another significant step forward with the unveiling of a new logo and brand campaign which will help carry the club into an exciting era.

Download the new logo and tell us what you think in our poll on our front page.

myspace.com/gloryfc will also exclusively reveal the new look strips for next season in the comoing days

A long and proud history in Australian football precedes the new crest which recognises the club’s past while at the same time encompasses the future vision of Owner and Chairman Mr Tony Sage.

The club’s distinctive colours of purple and orange have been retained as has the sun bursts and traditional style ball, all of which have been prevalent since the Glory’s inception in 1996. Silver has been added into the colour palette signifying a bright new outlook for the club.

For the first time Perth Glory’s logo will be encompassed in a shield, an iconic symbol associated with football emblems the world over, and includes contemporary aspects such as a breakout ball to bring the design to life.

This is the third incarnation of the club’s logo, the last update coming at the start of the Hyundai A-League four years ago, with this version incorporating several important changes.

The club’s home town has been given added prominence to underscore Glory’s association to Western Australia and connection to the city of Perth as the club pushes into Asia.

“We are on a path of renewal at Perth Glory,” Mr Sage said.

“Our sponsors, corporate partners, members and supporters have a strong affiliation and loyalty to the Perth Glory brand and associate well with our attributes of success, passion and innovation. The new logo and brand campaign further strengthens that connection and prepares us for exciting times ahead at the club,” added Mr Sage.

The design of the logo was conducted over many months with significant resources and consultation being allocated to achieve a successful outcome. Original concepts were developed through the design team at KURV in Western Australia and finalised in conjunction with Football Federation Australia design company Witekite.

“We’re very pleased with the final outcome,” said Mr Sage.

“You can instantly recognise it as Perth Glory through the colours and key elements such as the sun rays and it definitely has a strong football feel about it.

“The logo is more contemporary and has a lively look which is particularly relevant in our business. Combining this logo with a squad of high quality players and revamped strip gives a fresh feel across the club on and off the field,” Mr Sage said.

Reproduction of the logo across a multitude of environments including embroidery on merchandise, web, television and print has received an extremely favourable response.
