Even if you do a variation of the chorus to this song and everyone holding up Glory Scarfs that will be a sight to see As an Adelaide United supporter I will be back again for the Saturday August 29th Clash against Melbourne Victory the day after watching Adelaide United play North Queensland Fury at Hindmarsh so I may have 40 free tickets for your home game against Melbourne to give away. Rooster9, as far as I can tell, Squad# Position Name 1 GK Tando Velaphi 2 DF Scott Neville (Youth) 4 DF Jamie Coyne (Captain) 5 DF Jamie Harnwell 6 MF Jacob Burns 7 FW Victor Sikora (VISA) 8 MF Wayne Srhoj 9 FW Branko Jelic (VISA) 11 MF Scott Bulloch 13 FW Anthony Skorich (Youth) 14 FW Eugene Dadi (VISA) 16 MF Adriano Pellegrino 17 MF Jimmy Downey 18 MF Andrija Jukic 19 MF Naum Sekulovski 20 GK Frank Juric 21 MF Howard Fondyke (Youth) 22 DF Brent Griffiths (Youth) = 18. Hayden Doyle was re-signed, but as a NYL team player. Strongly Linked: Andy Todd = possible 19th and 4th VISA player? Sterjovski = possible 20th? Marquee = 21st and 5th VISA player. Hmm seems we may have room for 2-3 more State League boys, after we sort out these big signings? We're still weak for depth at CB and LB. So two signings in those areas could take us to the A-League squad maximum of 23. - Just a link to the 'Recoba Too Rich' Article in the West that has been quoted. http://www.thewest.com.au/default.aspx?MenuID=4&ContentID=141750occyron7 wrote:Quote: Sydney FC are poised to offer a trial next week to Iraq international Ali Abbas, the left-side midfielder who is playing in the NSW Premier League for Marconi Stallions. Ali Abbas, 22, could be joined on trial next week by two other players from the NSWPL - Penrith-Nepean United teammates Mitchell Long and Dimitri Petratos. Damn! These are all players that Glory should be after! Ofc we're known to be interested in Sterjovski, but I mean Chris Coyne and/or Adrian Madaschi, both Perth boys, why is Sydney CONSTANTLY linked with these boys, even in recent times? While we chase some one like Andy Todd, who we're only ever going to get 1-2 seasons out of. Those two boys are both very experienced and in Coyne's case he WILL lead from the back - as he's done for the Socceroos. Abbas would be an awesome Asian option too. It could free up Sikora from our left side, have Sikora playing behind the strikers instead. Could be awesome. I agree if we bring back Coyne or Madaschi home they can finish their careers here with another 2 to 3 years or more? and then it would free up a visa spot. In saying that maybe it would be good to get Coyne or Madschi and Todd, his championship and premier league experience would be invaluable to the young blokes like Neville and Griffiths. But one of the Perth boys has always been high on my wishlist for Glory who says Mitch hasnt tested the water already maybe he had no bites or who knows..... And even with all the Recoba talk Sterj was right up on my wishlist to.
One thing though the Todd deal is almost a certainty with Todd coming out to perth to look at houses and schools I cant see Glory taking the deal off the table. Athough if he fails the medical he is scheduled to have while in Perth who knows.

Quote:Severino on trial with Perth Glory 15.05.09 | Andrew Slevison Former Millwall and Piacenza midfielder Daniel Severino is currently on trial with the Perth Glory.
The 27-year old ended his contract with Maltese club Sliema Wanderers and is training with the West Australian club in the hope of winning an A-League contract.
“He’s got a lot of experience and technically he’s very good,” Mitchell said.
“I think he’d add something to the squad but I’ve just got to make sure I spend money in the right areas.”
Originally from Sydney, Severino has also had stints with Iceland club Keflavik and Swedish side Umea FC among others.

In case anyone was wondering Perth Glory vs. North Queensland Fury will not be played in Carnarvon, it will be played at Hyandai Stadium in Mandurah. Which is good, cause I'm back for it, plus its only 45 min train ride from the city, that would make it just over an hour for me, sounds good. \:d/ http://www.a-league.com.au/site/_content/document/00001165-source.pdfEdited by southern3: 16/5/2009 09:36:23 PM

Quote:Socceroos winger Mile Sterjovski looks likely to sign for Perth Glory By John Taylor May 16, 2009 Perth Glory are moving full steam ahead to entice Socceroos winger Mile Sterjovski as their marquee man after Uruguayan superstar Alvaro Recoba proved too costly.
With owner Tony Sage splashing out money to make Glory a force again, the club is probably in a better position to secure Sterjovski's signature ahead of Gold Coast United or Central Coast Mariners.
After nine seasons abroad playing in France, Switzerland, Turkey and England, Sterjovski looks certain to be back playing in Australia - although he has also attracted offers from Asian clubs.
Glory coach David Mitchell said that agents acting on behalf of Recoba had never come clean with an asking price when the club showed initial interest. When an offer was finally tabled it was for $2 million.
"I can say we are in discussions with Mile and former Blackburn Rovers defender Andy Todd," Mitchell said. "They are progressing really well."

i bumped into scott bulloch at leederville last night ... great down to earth guy and had a good conversation lol.
he did confirm with me that andy todd has signed haha ... and emphasised to me on how tough he is and that his fantastic, "his tough, oh yeh his real tough" lol.
Then we talked about finals football and he said this year they will make it defintely, like he looked me in the eye and said, mate we will defintely make the finals this year for sure.
Then he said he thinks we have signed branko jelic aswell, but couldnt remember what he said about him, but defintely signed andy todd he said and couldnt stop praising andy todd's toughness and quality at the back.
scott bulloch .. his a great guy ... shame his not the best player lol ... he will struggle next season for regular game time for sure, and will probably be used as a back up left mid or left back, most likely he defintely wont be able to make the strikers ranks compared to last season, which shows how much we have improved.
oh and with ur glory best 11 squad there FP general. I agree with it, except swap pellegrino and sikora over, sikora is left mid and pellegrino on the right.
Also, if we sign sterjovski, where are we going to play him? lol ... as a striker or in midfield, and if he plays as striker or in midfield, who are we going to take off for him?

Sterjovski upfront with Dadi. The Sterj is jut like an old, more experienced Ruka, and almost as quick too.

Mile can play either up front, on the right or even a forward midfielder, so he would give a lot of flexibility. Sikora is the same but on the left. Shroj and Burns in the middle have Pelle and Jukic as backups. So we're well covered from the middle of the park onwards - but the defense certainly needs strengthening.
Preseason will be tossing up the partnership between Dadi, Jelic and Sterjovski, but I think Shroj will be relegated to the bench to make way for Mile in the middle.
Whilst Bulloch may struggle to get game time, its up to players like him to push hard in training and make the first-teamers earn their weekly selection. Who knows, he might shine when playing with better quality around him this year.

Yeh i just corrected my mistake on the blog, got completely confused with the formation (check out the post: "http://footballperth.blogspot.com/2009/05/what-is-perth-glorys-best-xi.html") :P :P. Interesting about where to play Mile. If we signed him, we'd have three pretty potent forwards. Little bit concerned about defence, it looks a bit thin..

Bulloch has a good chance at LB actually, because its only Sekulovski who's ahead of him. LB is perhaps ann area of the park where we're weakest. Though the young and well rated Brent Griffiths could well leap frog both of them and take that position.
Michell has pretty much said that 'Mile is a replacement for Ruka, except he's more experienced - essentially better!'
But yeah, now that we have Jelic too - we could always go front 3 some matches lol
But as has been said - Sterjovski started out as a striker with Sydney Utd and Parramatta Power, but in Europe he played right side midfield/right attacking midfield, with Lille in French League One, FC Bsel and the other sides he's played for. For Australia he's also played predominantly Right Midfield, but he's also played striker on the odd occasion, like the Ghana match, from memory.
He's certainly more your player in the attacking half. I have not seen him play Centre Midfield, though he could play AM.
For us, if we sign him, he may well play either Pelle's position or slot in 'the hole' behind Dadi and Jelic - So where the likes of Trinidad played some times.
Right > Left
----------Velaphi Neville-Harnw-Todd-Sekulovski -----------Burns Pelleg-------------Sikora ---------Sterjovski --------Dadi---Jelic
We still will lack that 5th Visa player - Abbas would not be too expensive. But we do not have many squad places left now and may well need another decent defender or something. But once again, Brent Griffiths and Scott Neville are both quite capable at CB, apparently.
Severino may be quite reasonable as part of our striker/midfield rotation. For guys dissing him for hardly lighting up the Maltese league - Shane Smeltz was hardly lighting up the Blue Square league, when he was plucked from there. Malta aside, he's spent 4-5 seasons in Europe, total and had brief spells with Marconi. I said striker/midfield as apparently he could play wide left aswell as up front, so could be handy enough. He shouldn't be too expensive. We will only sign him for a season. If he flops he flops and he's not re-signed (Maybe even released mid season), but if he does better than expected, especially if we suffer some injuries up front, then we may've found a little gem and one more than worth re-signing. Mitchell's judgement of talent has been pretty good so far overall, and if Mitch goes with this guy then we have to trust he has shown something.
BTW Dino Djulbic - He has still yet to even feature in Rot Weiss Ahlen's matchday squads. He left Glory for the club in late January. It's been 3-4 months and it's nearing end of season - he likely won't feature for the club at all, this season. I suppose Bundesliga 2 is no easy league to crack into, but maybe with a full pre-season under his belt, he might have an impact next year? It's probably still too early to say, but at 26 he's hardly a spring chicken, so would want to see regular first team action pretty soon. A return to Perth Glory could always be on the cards as soon as mid way next season - on a free too if he's released from his contract or not re-signed, so net profit for Glory (They received a transfer fee for him). :D

Last week on a local Football radio show, Mitchell explictly said that Branko Jelic was offical and would be playing. Todd on the other hand is "close" to signing with Perth, according to Mitchell, he's come here with his family to check it out (that's a pretty strong sign in my opinion).

yeh even though todd is a tough and strong character .... and especially with his experience u would think he would make a perfect captain ... i still would love to see harnwell with the captains armband though .... his just glory through and through and has been there through everything with the club ... harnwell captain .... burns vice? .... and then with todd, dadi and sikora in like another smaller leadership group.
