Yeah i reckon Juric going would save us a bit. and having two great young keepers would probably not be overly expensve. but i suggest we'd need that to cope with the signings were currently partaking in.

Should we try to sign the Duke now that he will be looking for a new club? I am sure we can afford him.

i got a feeling dukes will actually stay with newcastle in the championship ... well providing he accepts a decrease in wages ... his a big fan of shearer ..... and i think by viduka playing against a lesser quality opposition week in week out may actually be good for him as he might be able to regularly score goals, yet saying that, the championship is still a high quality level of football.
I highly doubt if viduka got dropped from newcastle, another club in one of the top flight leagues around the world would pick him up. By this i mean clubs from England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Holland.

my thoughts exactly. if we were ever to splash out on big big money id rather a midfielder who will get more touches on the ball and therefore have more of an impact. i guess thats why sydney made dwight a midfielder.

I thought they made Dwight a midfielder because he lost most of his pace but wanted to sit in the middle of the park.... By the way new post on the Football Perth Blog.

Thanks to this Vrteski/Juric move, we still have 4 squads spots free and unlike last season, are only using 2 spots on keepers, not 3.
Glory's squad depth gets better by the week.
Still have 1 Visa spot free and/or Marquee ofcourse. If we got Sterjovski as a Marquee, then we could sign a good Asian LB for instance (Victory got that Thai Sukha fellow), using our 5th Visa spot?
If we snapped up a talent Asian boy, and they do well, then we would be set for the ACL's 3+1 rule (Would only have to omit 1 Visa guy) come if we qualifying for the ACL Campaign in 2011, if we do really well this season.

As dave said our squad is very midfield-heavy, would like to see Mitchell case a couple of defenders (fullbacks) to shore up the squad...

No he can play LB/in Defence too and Merrick discussed him in that context http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/103209,victory-keeping-carlos.aspxQuote:Surat, who has been playing for Thai powerhouse Chonburi FC, joins on a two-year deal.
He played against Victory twice last year in the Asian Champions League and now joins former team-mate Ney Fabiano at the club. He also played against Australia in the 2007 Asian Cup.
"We're pretty comfortable Surat will be comfortable when we play a back three type of defence but we want to be able to be flexible to cover a range of positions, depending on what formation we play," Merrick said. http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/103255,victory-hail-versatile-sukha.aspxhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surat_SukhaWe can find players like this, though it helps that clubs like Adelaide and Victory have ACL experience playing those clubs, so seeing those players up close, more than once. I'm definitely hoping we get another fullback. though then again we know neville can step up. and i personally think Griffith can. and with Todd in the middle were looking good. ANd Harnwell too play back there as well. but we need more. like some as back ups. cause injury always plays a big part for us.

no way!!!!
I will never forget the goal he scored in hulls promotion game against bristol last season .. it was fantastic .. but still ... the guy is old and slow, his 40!
he definitely shouldnt come to the a-league ... his 40, and that would definitely promote the a-league as a retirement village.
and not to mention his recent goal scoring record ... 1 goal in 11 games for oldham in league 1? nup ... sorry big dean

and here's the original article from http://hume-leader.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/premier-league-star-dean-windass-could-be-sunshine-bound: EXCLUSIVE: ENGLISH Premier League star Dean Windass appears destined for the Victorian Premier League after Sunshine Georgies confirmed it has had advanced talks with the veteran striker. In the biggest foreign signing for the Georgies in their 52-year history, Sunshine coach Andy O’Dell confirmed to Leader tonight he was confident of landing Windass – famous for scoring the goal that put Hull City into the EPL for the first time its history in 2008 – for a guest stint at the club despite rival interest from newly alerted A-League clubs. “At the moment, fingers crossed, it’s all going to go ahead,” he said. Now aged 40, Windass was on the fringes of City’s first team this season, but he still managed to score in a 2-2 draw with Portsmouth in November before joining League 1 outfit Oldham Athletic on a season-long loan. He will soon fly out for Australia from Yorkshire in the UK. His first destination will be Western Australia to speak to Perth Glory which, along with Adelaide United, was alerted to Windass’s availability after hearing of Sunshine’s move. But with the A-League season not scheduled to kick-off until August, O’Dell is hopeful of having Windass’s services for at least “three or four games”. Should Windass sign for Sunshine, he will be donating his playing services for free out of his long-standing friendship with O’Dell. The two were youth players at Hull City during the early 1990s. “Somebody let it out of the hat, and obviously there’s a bit of interest from Adelaide and Perth now,” O’Dell said. “He’s going to Perth in the next week to talk to Glory, but all being well he’ll wear the Georgies shirt in the next 14 days. I’m just waiting on what time he gets here (in Melbourne). “He’s playing for nothing. He just wants to get a look at the country as well.” The signing would be the biggest in the VPL since the former NSL was disbanded in 2004. And not since former England striker Peter Beardsley’s two-game stint with Melbourne Knights in 1999 has a traditional Victorian club clinched such a high-profile signature. “The league needs a big rev-up,” O’Dell said. “It’s an outstanding coup; it’s good for the club, and it’s good for the game. When you see him, he’s a machine. Just raw power.”

hopefully whoever this belgian marquee may be ... i hope his worth it
and glory .. please dont sign windass haha, unless his good at warming up the bench?
dadi and jelic up front, and say hyperthetically that this belgian marquee is a striker, our forward ranks would be pretty much full.
