Hey mate, apparently a few Glory supporters go to the Elephant and Wheelbarrow to watch away games. Wear your Glory jersey for cheap pints of Guinness, Kilkenny and Tooheys White Stag. As for home games, the Elephant and Wheelbarrow has quite a few people who rock up to chat with each other. Same deal applies. Come both days if you wish but definately go there for the home games, as you said, its good to be around fellow supporters... AND THEN THERE'S THE MARCH TO THE STADIUM WHICH IS ALWAYS GOOD LOL

Quote:Brazillian Amaral declares desire to re-sign with Glory
BRAZILIAN warhorse Amaral is desperate to secure a new contract with Perth Glory so he can mend his dented pride and repay the club. The 36-year-old former international sparkled in seven appearances in the midfield last season before a hamstring injury cut his season short.
David Mitchell released the playmaker, with the club forced into making a pragmatic decision after its woeful 2008-09 campaign was sabotaged by a lengthy injury list.
But Amaral was so desperate to return to WA that he paid for his own flight and put in a spritely performance at his first training session hours after arriving.
"They gave me so much and treated me very well and I didn't give much in return last season," Amaral said in Italian.
"I played only a few matches and they paid me a lot. I wanted the opportunity to come back and train and prove myself.
"I want to demonstrate my value and gain a contract, and if I'm given a contract I want to bring my family here.
"I'm ready - it depends on them. I came with seven suitcases and I want to stay here."
While Amaral feels he owes a debt to the club and its fans, he said his attempted return to the A-League was a personal mission.
"It's not for the fans, but for me," he said.
Provided he passes fitness tests this week, Glory will offer him a nine-week guest player contract.
The veteran could make a fairytale return as early as next Sunday's home clash against Newcastle.
Amaral declared himself 100 per cent fit, saying he had played several friendly matches for regional teams in Brazil to keep in shape.
He was impressed by Glory's five major off-season additions and believes the club can be a force this season.
"I see they've made a lot of changes and the squad is a lot stronger than last year. I think I can add something to the team," he said.
"I saw the game against Adelaide and I saw the team play well. Adelaide had a penalty that for me wasn't a penalty.
"Coming up, there are two games at home and they're two important games.
"Last year we had a lot of bad luck in a lot of matches. This year we need to create our own luck, especially at home."
The diminutive midfielder's career has taken him to 15 clubs in seven countries, including stints at Brazilian giants Palmeiras and Vasco da Gama and European outfits Benfica, Parma and Fiorentina.
He won 31 caps for his country and played at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics with Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Dida and Roberto Carlos.
Amaral does not speak English and with no Portuguese-speaking players in the squad, relies on fellow midfielder Adriano Pellegrino to translate Mitchell's instructions into Italian.
Amaral, who used hand signals to instruct younger Glory players in his first session back with the squad on Thursday, said the language barrier was not a big problem.
"The language of the game is universal," he said.
Amaral said he had offers from clubs in Asia and the Middle East, where he could earn a higher wage than at Glory, but wants to start a new life in Perth. http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,25934778-5005408,00.html

Geez, gutted that we lost. Really gutted. We should have won that game. At least we played much much better than last week, especially away to NZ and in that sort of weather. Everyone played well. -Neville should stay as a defender and play no part in any attack. His distribution as right back is horible. But his defending is 10/10 -Good to see Jelic and Sterj played up front together. -Unlucky on Tando. He made some great saves only to be deflected on the last goal -The passing and interplay was top notch -Srhoj was awesome. I was a bit surprised when Dave said he is a Socceroo contender in the local newspaper on Sat. Now I know what he meant. - Howarth was much better than last week. He can definitely cut it at the A-league level if he continues to play this well. I hope we win next game. We are starting to fall behind. With our bad start, i hope we can still get a big crowd next week.

I'd go as far to say as he was our best player - his crosses were absolutely brilliant time after time after time, and his runs down the left were scintillating. Should start next week, I don't care if Sikora misses out tbh, because he's not a true left winger and shouldn't be played there.

Damn, another loss for the Glory, more bad luck...
I know we don't get ALL the bad luck but it certainly feels like it and I've only been following them closely for the last 2 seasons...

Nah i reckon Tando was our best player, made some great saves - nothing he really could of done with the either goals...
Agreed on bad luck, Glory looked good in the second half but were frustrating as all hell

I'm going to go out on a limb here. I honestly appreciate Mitch for his fantastic effort at overhauling a squad that was in dire need of rebuilding. As a motivator and with recruiting he has showed himself to be top notch. But I don't think he has a top drawer understanding of how a team defends as a unit. He has compensated for this by signing experience and quality in Todd and Coyne, who will hopefully gel fully soon and become the mean backline we were all hoping for. Mitch was a striker, a fierce attacking player, and I think he knows how to set a team up to attack. Last year, even when we were leaking goals, we were still a threat going forward. I will not judge Mitch before the halfway mark of this season. Our pre-season was so interrupted and we have so many new faces that I think it will take time to see the fruit of Mitch's labour. I'm willing to wait and give him the benefit of the doubt. But deep down I don't think he's good enough. Imagine what a European coach could do with our squad? I like Mitch, but there are much better coaches out there, and I feel justified in wanting something better for the club I love.

I mean he brought it sterj, burns and co. .. if he was to leave ... imagine how sterj and burns would feel, coming to play for this guy and his gone ... their morale would drop. i got faith in mitch ... we've had 2 tough away games and it has been close games that we have lost .... hopefully we be strong at home, bring in some confidence ... and we'll be back on track. i hope.

You guys were very unlucky not to win, I have no doubt its the team just not predicting and knowing what their team mates are going to do. I wouldn't be worried about starting off slowly as long as you finish strong, which with the quality you have is almost a sure thing.

i think if you guys manage 5 points in the first 5 rounds you will be in good stead for the rest of the year. this part of the season with a new team is where you will struggle. once they boys start to play well as a unit and understand the team movement and system you guys will put a lot of goals away AND have a very tidy defense.
i'm tipping perth to have a very slow start, scrape into the finals at 5th or 6th on the back of an unbeaten run and get through to the GF with some great performances in the finals (kicking out GCU in the semi). as i am a one-eyed sky blue supporter i have to say you will get that far only to be met with a kofi danning special in the GF to go down 1-0.

Tommycash wrote:I personally think this game can kick start our season. but a worry for me is the fact i still haven't gotten my membership pack as yet.what the devils up with that? Same, although the Glory said that only if we don't get it by Thursday should we call them. Anyone up for any predictions of the Glory line-up on Sunday? I would go like this: Tando Neville Todd C.Coyne Sekulovski Pellegrino Burns Shroj Howarth Jelic Sterj Subs: Vreteski Sikora Dadi Amaral Only change in the starting line-up is Howarth for Sikora - namely because Sikora won't be fully fit, and will be better as an impact player off the bench this week - and I really don't think he gives us enough width, especially at home. Howarth makes great runs down the left and put in some quality balls in from the left in Wellington, so he gets the nod for me. Put Amaral on the bench, as I wouldn't "fix what's not broken" so to speak - Shroj (or Shrow, according to the NZ commentators ](*,) and Burns played well last week together. Dadi needed if we're behind or drawing. Jukic somehow misses out after his great performance, IMO, last week - showing our immense depth if this does occur! And, still have Harnwell and J.Coyne to come back! I think the squad now has more depth than anyone believed we would (with Howarth and Jukic doing so well, and Amaral coming back, shoring up the midfield). Anyone else hazard a guess at the line-up?]

I think you're on the money leazy. I'd like to see Howarth at LB and Sikora on wing at some point too.
Has Amaral actually signed yet?

agree with ur line up leazy ... but i think sikora will start and for some reason i think dadi will start.
I think he may of been dropped for the welly game to put fire in his belly for the jets game.
crazy thought i know ... but the fans do like dadi and he does like to play at home

No ide on Amaral, he should be confirmed in the next couple of days - still maintain that the position on Dadi is bizarre...

Got my membership pack today. Got it as i was leaving for work. So probably there when you guys get home. I watched Foxtel's fox sports FC last night. Interesting how they pointed out that Neville cost us the first goal and almost a second goal as well.

I just hope they don't get on his case too early, he's still got plenty of promise and who can expect a teenager to play like a seasoned pro? He's still learning his trade, this is only his second game at senior national level.
