No, it's the game v CCM they would miss if they played - the game v Korea is on the 5th September, i.e. not this weekend but the next weekend - and we play CCM on the Friday night.

Quote: Green backs Glory in blockbuster bout Thursday, 27 August 2009
Perth Glory players received a welcome boost ahead of the club’s heavyweight bout with reigning Hyundai A-League Champions Melbourne Victory when Boxing World Champion Danny Green dropped into training on Thursday morning.
A keen supporter of football and close friend of Glory marquee player Mile Sterjovski, ‘The Green Machine’ offered the squad words of encouragement before taking them through a ‘boxing’ inspired warm-up.
“I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with the round ball but I’m here to support Perth Glory, I’m a proud West Australian and whatever I can do to help out our local teams I’m all for,” Green said. PGFC Danny Green Mile Sterjovski & Danny Green
“I used to come here when I was younger up in the shed and the atmosphere was bananas. There is a massive soccer community here in Perth and I think it was about time they stepped up and started to come to the games and supporting the boys because there is a wealth of talent here.
“These guys are Socceroos, Mile (Sterjovski) is one of the best players in the game, on a world level and Perth Glory are very lucky to have a guy like Mile over here playing with the team and hopefully he is going to lift them and take them to a new level.”
Green wasted little time in showing his support of the Glory after arriving in Perth only two days ago following a massive win over Argentine Julio Cesar Dominguez in their IBO cruiserweight world title fight in Mississippi. The victory handed Green a historic third world title, each in different weight divisions, after holding the WBA light-heavyweight and WBC interim super-middleweight titles.
“I’m very lucky and blessed to have achieved a third world title in a third weight division and I have got there through hard work and perseverance and that is the message to the boys today.
“Sometimes it doesn’t always go your way, I’ve had devastating losses but I’ve always hung in there and persevered and showed commitment and that’s what I’ve said to the boys today and the result will start coming,” Green said.
Perth started the season with two tough away matches that ended in narrow losses however the Glory inflicted some heavy blows of their own last weekend in a convincing 2-0 win over Newcastle and will be looking to repeat that performance against Melbourne on Friday night at ME Bank Stadium.
“This week in training there has been a lot of confidence and we are looking forward to this match and think we can continue to step up our game and get another win and points on the board,” Sterjovski said.
“Danny is a World Champion and any life experiences or advice that he can offer us will only benefit us… I’ve been following him in his career and all the boys here at the Glory support him and look forward to seeing his next fight.”
Hyundai A-League – Rd 4
Perth Glory v Melbourne Victory Friday, 28 August 2009 at ME Bank Stadium, Perth Local kick-off: 8.00pm (Gates open 6.00pm)
With Green onside it might in fact bring us a few more to the games. hes a bit of a local hero thats undeniable.

Dont forget your wet weather gear crew!!! Definitely bring it, but it looks like we'll be lucky: Rain clearing for big match Friday, 28 August 2009 Perth Glory members and supporters should be treated to a clear night of football action with the rain easing this afternoon and clearing for kick-off. The Bureau of Meteorology says the showery periods in the morning will ease to a shower or two during the afternoon. Supporters coming to ME Bank Stadium are reminded that the venue’s ‘Condition of Patron Entry’ restricts umbrellas being brought through the gates. Condition of Paton Entry Amendment – Umbrellas Please note that an amendment has been made to the ME Bank Stadium Condition of Patron Entry. Umbrellas are not permitted to be brought into the stadium and should you wish to leave umbrellas at the gate you may do say at your own risk. Ponchos will be available from the merchandise van. This is a stadium condition of entry and Perth Glory apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. Checked the weather, and it is just a brief shower or two for the rest of today, so let's hope everyone goes out and supports the Glory tonight - we need to get 10k surely!? CANNOT WAIT!!!

Not too fussed about the smaller crowd. i reckon once the AFL is off and we dont have to deall with FFA crap around scheduling we should easily pull 10k to games like the forthcoming GCU match. and the weather will improve which will no doubt help.

Is this the end of Dadi? with Jelic playing decently and Mitchs seeming love for Mayora will we be seeing Dadi in Purple before Mayora leaves?

... I cant see Dadi getting his place back soon ... with Sterj and Jelic slowly creating a good partnership, Jelic scoring, and plus harnwell is coming back into the squad, also with Mayora on the bench ... I think Dadi's only hope is injuries .... if his patient ... he may get his chance later on. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/soccer/5893927/burns-tips-dadi-to-bounce-back/ ... now despite articles saying that he is still positive and is looking to bounce back .... word is that he is unhappy, and apparently not to much of a favourite amongst the player group .... :?

Ah right. similar article there. but mines more focused on the Sterj, Jelic combo with burns saying he expects more goals from that. so i suppose that means no starts for Dadi. but neither articles mention Mayora so maybe Burns doesn't think much of him. http://www.a-league.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=29030

Wow. more then 30 seconds! amazing. the shame about Dadi is that Glory tried last year to set Dadi up as a cult hero. which they did rather succesfully. now though hes not playing and so the fans will be unhappy.

Article in todays west about the rise of Naum Sekulosvki. Theres a picture of Nick Rizzo and its captioned as Naum. pretty poor work from the west. I mean you dont have to be a hardcore fan to know what the first team players look like at your club. and to mistake someone like Naum whos been here for seasons and seasons you must be a complete dingus.

Mistakes like this happen all the time in Newspapers (although in a perfect world they really shouldn't) but it's just bad for Naum ...
