FTR I spoke to a lady on the phone, as I needed to call up Glory in regards to my ticket situation for the SFC game and she said I'd be notified via e-mail when the Member Pack was sent and duly, 5 days later, an email from Glory stating that the pack had been sent and we should expect it to arrive this coming week, AS the lady on the phone said. :)
She also spoke of the delays, issues with the, what you call it, 'delivery service' or some such, I guess the 'middle man' if you will in this process. Hopefully they will indeed have learnt from the experience this season and can greatly improve in this area, come next season. Good word of mouth is essential and it's also good to keep existing members having in order to sustain the base, let alone grow it!
So Petszk and any others - Try calling Glory during working hours and speak to the lady who handles memberships for an update and tbh if it's all processing as should, as tbh I think there was an issue/hold up with mine too and it wasn't till I had called that she promptly 'sorted it' so I think it's best policy guys to just call them directly.
And on the Membership figure - I don't have Twitter but I indeed encourage fellow fans of Glory, the A-League or otherwise to ask CEO Brewer about this. It's the trend of the league and Glory are kind of the odd ones-out, but their figure would be far from anthing to be ashamed of and even a good little side-bit to 'announce' as their A-League rivals have discovered. Somebody, Nate I think it was (Was it you?), initially prompted Brewer for that 4,394 figure and apparently Glory passed 5k recent weeks, though I'm not sure where that was said. Brewer back when Nate or whoever it was asked on Twitter said that a 'signed match ball' would be given out to the 5,000th member too - so again, that would be a nice announcement and even photo opp, PR campaign, for their social media sites?

Ali is so lucky that he has 2 sons, its so awesome that when Ryan isn't available to slot straight into the starting 11, he can always throw his other son Cameron in the starting lineup, phew.

Yeah - I did that 2 weeks ago to organise e-tickets for the Sydney match. As well as organising the e-tickets, they "checked in the system" and assured me the membership packs would arrive in the mail the following week (that is - last week).

At the time Ali was putting the squad together all he had little money to do it with. Choices??? Sign youth players, but he had two sons (that can play unlike other we have seen) he could also get for next to nothing. Whom did he sign? Davies Clisby Woodcock De Dilva C Edwards Evans R Edwards O'Neill O'Brien Maclaren Makeche Duncan/Spence I'm pretty sure all of the above are either new signings, ex youth now on senior contracts or 3 NYL signed on senior contrats. The only others signed are Sidnei (he basically came for a trial and stayed) and Gallas (out of the arse of Sage with some play money of his, payed by sponsors and the FFA). As for the style of play, longer balls onto the wings and crossing from out wide, well that's the logical style of play. Glory have been gutted with the loss of Miller and Cordoba in cost savings and as such will not control the midfield. They will clean up back as they will have 6 defenders at times (and now with Gallas \:d/ ) and play for the fast break as they have very fast wingers and either a target man in Smeltz or Speedy Gonzalez in the form of Maclaren. Edwards seems to be playing to Glory's strengths and not to something that he used to have but has no longer.

Roar_Brisbane wrote:Why didn't R Edwards start on the weekend? Official line was squad rotation, though I don't know how much weight that holds when it's the first major change in 5 weeks. I'd say unofficially it was to test whether it would open up for more play in the middle as opposed to the recent reliance on the flanks (and the answer seems no)

Roar_Brisbane wrote:Why didn't R Edwards start on the weekend? Dunno, maybe Ali trying to be a bit more defensive for the away game given De Silva was not travelling. Must admit, Welly were stretched when Maclaren and R Edwards came on deep into the game. Desired result but not the outcome.

Also maybe he was just trying McGarry out as the number 10. He was way too slow though. I don't think he should be in the starting 11. I thought Edwards did a better job when he came on. I want to see O.Neil trialled in Mcgarry's DM spot.

Came pretty close to working, some of our late chances were what you could call high-percentage opportunities.

Well now, with Gallas signed and all the expected coverage with that, how big an impact, if any, will that have on the upcoming home game?? :-k Will his signing be a genuine draw, boost that crowd to some degree, directly via his presence, or indirectly via increased media coverage/Glory Water-Cooler Talk (Both?) or not? :-k petszk wrote:GloryPerth wrote: So Petszk and any others - Try calling Glory during working hours and speak to the lady who handles memberships for an update and tbh if it's all processing as should, as tbh I think there was an issue/hold up with mine too and it wasn't till I had called that she promptly 'sorted it' so I think it's best policy guys to just call them directly.
Yeah - I did that 2 weeks ago to organise e-tickets for the Sydney match. As well as organising the e-tickets, they "checked in the system" and assured me the membership packs would arrive in the mail the following week (that is - last week). Hmm, not to rub salt in the wound - but they said on the phone and via subsequent email last week, that my pack would arrive this week, and duly so it arrived this morning! Maybe wait another week and follow up again? I presume you will also double check with them, that they have your correct mailing address and what not.

Roar_Brisbane wrote:So will R Edwards be a sub player now or will he still start most games? Well DeSilva has been used in similar ways in the opening rounds, and was out against Wellington due to a one week injury. So my guess is that if DeSelvia is match fit again this Saturday that Edwards will be in the starting 11 again and that DeSilva will be used as the impact sub. Unless he changes things around again.

Shanagar wrote:Very hot week forecast, which will run into the start of Round 2 against Adelaide (after only 5 matches). Glory will have to ensure Gallas is warned about a 1/4 time drinks break, given that this is a rescheduled fixture, but they've still gone for a 2.30pm kick off. We say it every year, and we know the reasons, but it still remains totally unacceptable for Perth's climate in the middle of November. Ample opportunity to have picked a more appropriate time. And kudos to the ground announcer who now reads out the starting lineups with minimal hiccups, complete with on screen photos. Can we now extend this to at least naming the subs on the bench. Last game it was ADP, who was 50/50 whether he'd play, and Smeltz, DDS, among others. The crowd had to rely on screen shots of players on plastic chairs to guess who'd actually complete the team. Do they even bother to think with these schedules? The game plan is still to avoid the middle of the pitch going forward so of course McGarry had a quiet game, and he doesn't have the stamina of Ryan Edwards to run into positions all day either.
