Sunny morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the hills during the afternoon and evening. Winds east to northeasterly 25 to 40 km/h becoming north to northeasterly and light in the middle of the day then tending humid west to northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the early afternoon.

Max 35

Baaaahaaaahaaaa.

35 and humid and in the sun. #-o

Suck on that FFA.

But, the forecast change, but this, but that.

](*,)

Guaranteed it'll be a scorching 35C very early in the afternoon with those strong easterlies.

Just got 9 free tickets to the game, 5 in General Admission and 4 in W207. Stoked to get those tickets in the western stand, in the shade and up a bit. Should be good.

nice wintery qatari type conditions one might say?

maybe in the year leading up to that farce we may see some top class players come down here, play for glory, experience WC22 conditions

How did you score the tickets?

BTW: Only the middle couple of blocks (can't remember the numbers now) from the front to about halfway up are the reserved seats. Other than that people can sit anywhere in the new stand.

Thats the sad thing about living in perth, theres no relieving rain for the heat there in summer

In sydney they get relieving rain for an uncomfortable hot day, ie the weather comes from the west, but in perth theres no rain from the east (theres also weather from the South and East as well in Syds)

I remember the little shitfight when the wildcats were usurped by the glory in terms of attention in the perth sporting public

Bogan Basketball fans (heh, lets name drop! some guy called russell sneddon) were particularly hostile towards the glory, saying "i dont want to sit in a kiln watching nobody scoring for 2 hours having louts singing and fighting"

Its situations like these which give ammunition to soccer haters in Perth when you play in perth's qatari heat

I have no doubt that he's speaking Sage's mind as well as his own in that conference.

To be fair, I don't mind Redwards... Willing to press and can probably do a lot more running/pace than a McGarry. That said, when we play McGarry further forward when facing tougher teams or on away trips, I'd much prefer to see O'Neill given a go in midfield, as reasonable as Cam Edwards was on the weekend after coming on for Burns.

Maclaren is wearing thin though with his continual offsides, hopefully he'll improve that soon... I'd look at putting Harold in over him soon though, especially when Smeltz isn't around.

That looks suspiciously like a 4-4-2. [-(

Honestly don't understand why everything the Edwards duo does is run through a nepotism filter by Glory fans. Are we really that simple?

These are the types of players we bemoaned about when they left the club, good young West Aussies not given a proper chance ("Good enough for Reading, to shit for Glory" etc") and now here they are given a second chance, regardless of what connection/network got them back.

Ryan Edwards had a good game, no worse than others culprits, but he gets slammed. In the role he's playing (which is what the coach wants) he's not the main distributor or point of attack. If people bothered to notice, McGarry was largely ineffectual when in the #10 role the other week and he had Smeltz supporting him. It's the tactics, not the player.

Jacob Burns manages one decent through ball, gets dragged and Cam Edwards comes on and sets up two decent direct passes straight away, but he gets slammed too.

I really don't understand it, it's scapegoat hunting.

EDIT: beaten by Dave despite trying to post for last half hour, bah.

Yeah, that line up looks pretty good ThomasEmilioDavies, till you get to the formation. we're a 4-2-3-1 based set up and have been for some time.

Though if you re-jig your line up to that formation, it don't take much - Just drop Harold back into 'the hole' there. Though an issue is - could Harold play that possie? Could 'perhaps' switch Sidnei in there, with Harold wide, but anyway...

Agreed ATE - Though fair enough there 'some' scrutiny there, but if the player/s form is warranting it, then all good.

And agreed - good to see them 'return home' especially the likes of Cameron Edwards, former Glory NYL player. Hopefully under Edwards, or whoever, Glory in the future can snap up the next batch of Sainsbury's, Eli Babalj's and the like from the NTS or elsewhere, before they are snapped up by A-League rivals! Same too, avoid having a scenario where 'under-appreciated' young talents like Taggart and Makarounas in the past where leaving due to lack of opportunity here.

Heck, imagine if we had Taggart in the striking options now?

From what I saw of Ryan Edwards, live, against SFC - I was on his side of the flank, attacking third, so saw him up close - he and his side was the main outlet of Glory's counter attacks, in that heat, over and above sub De Silva's left side! That happens sometimes, indeed, but for whatever reason the channel on the right side with Ryan Edwards was the avenue and he and late sub Smeltz were starting to combine, even despite Davies and co longing it. Infact, in hindsight, maybe it's because Edwards was same flank as Davies, so running onto the balls?

Anyway, Ryan Edwards played a good cross ball in to Smeltz, a strong half chance Smeltz sort of fluffed over the bar. A difficult one with fast ball needed, keeper closing Smeltz's space, but the kind of sharp chance a sharper Smeltz might've put away. R Edwards and Smeltz had a couple other scenarios too, but they were treading the line and Edwards also was, like most Aussie players, unable to position and play the type of ball needed to find Smeltz - Ironically only an ADP in the A-League and maybe Kewell could execute the kind of touches and passes needed there. And unfortunately R Edwards had one crossing chance there, which was overhit - again a phenom MOST Aussie players are guilty of, including with the Socceroos, and unlike R Edwards, many other Aussie players are not late into games with extreme heat like Edwards and co were!

From what I can see, he's a reasonable talent, sure, not exceptional, but worth pursuing, granted, in rotation with the others?

Flank? So you're talking about that last 10 minutes of play where for some reason Ali subbed off both his wingers for the #10s? Yeah, wouldn't be reading too much into that.

Hmm yeah, but still, play was going through that side and we created chances with those two combining. Yeah, it was due to subs and the heat taking it's toll (More long balls), but Smeltz will come back into the line up now, and R Edwards is still featuring, as we discussed?

So just attempting to fairly assess his talents, from what I saw up close, during that period. It's not much, but it's still something, perhaps more than some others have seen.

I'd probably keep Gallas as the CB but what about something like this?
Maybe McGarry instead of Desilva if he can't start and use him as an impact
sub in the same position.

Davies......Thwaite.....Clisby........Jamieson.

I don't see Burns being benched but I wouldn't mind seeing it.
