Oh, Sage was in shock, dear me.
Was Burns' apology against his better judgement? Sounds like it was really sincere then.
The club fully supports Ryan and Cameron, blah, blah, blah. How can it when it supports the view they're getting too much game time?
Not happy Jan. (Actually, an awful lot worse than that).

"People have said it's been all about him signing and picking his sons ahead of others but it's also been about how he relates to the players, and yes, the fact that he has consistently used Cameron off the bench ahead of others," Sage said.

"It's also been why certain players have been taken off in matches. There has been significant disharmony there and questions asked."

Edwards' two sons trained with the club on Tuesday, and Glory CEO Jason Brewer hopes they will see out their contracts at the Glory despite the drama of their dad's sacking.

"Ryan and Cameron are fully supported by the club," Brewer said.

"They are young professionals that have come in and are looking to make a career in football. I don't see the awkwardness in that.

"They were treated just as much the same as any other player in that club.
"They were on the training pitch this evening and they'll be there tomorrow.

"And they're certainly in contention to play against Adelaide on Sunday.

"They know how to behave in these situations and they'll continue to compete for spots in the team."

Sage said that he hoped to have "a former Perth assistant coach" at the club in a caretaker role for the clash with Adelaide, with a long-term appointment to be made in the coming weeks or months.

That coach is thought to be Kenny Lowe, a former assistant coach at Glory under Dave Mitchell, and currently in charge of WA National Training Centre.

It seems Sage and Brewer are at total odds with each other as well

Edwards taking legal action, they just said on channel 10 he didn't want Burns sacked but rather the captaincy removed.

So where's the user who tried to say other managers wouldn't be deterred by the club's treatment of Edwards because it wouldn't apply to them?

I for one shudder at the prospective scrap heap managers who are desperate enough to accept those conditions.

Candidates are coach Chris Coyne, Mark Rudan, Ante Milicic and Gary Phillips I noticed Bayswater FC sent out a tweet supporting Coyne for coach before Edwards was even sacked which I thought was a bit of a bitch move.

All of them are not overly experienced, I would prefer a proven coach, because the club really really really needs to get this right.

x2!

No fn surprise, KNEW it was coming! Such a dodgy way to get sacked, bizarre at the very least, certainly within the realms of 'wrong' in many respects and possibly worse, in other respects!

He is due his just compensation and even satisfaction after this almost career ruining, drama. This wasn't JUST a sacking - His reputation was DRAGGED through the mud with the 'son bias' innuendo/accusations and the INGLORIOUS blow up in the change rooms, INSTIGATED by Burns and co!

Yes, we know life can be 'Unfair' but to say this scenario was handled 'unfairly' may be an understatement. Yes, something HAD to be done, a process gone through, examination and due diligence to get to the root/s of the problem, but that process was clearly flawed and the outcome AND explanations for this outcome, thoroughly unsatisfactory, in a wider, professional, sense!

FTR I sound really harsh, but like the rest of you, we all still want what's best for the club and that's why this scenario has bothered us all! We DON'T want the club to be suffering these disasters, these public embarrassments etc... We all want to see the club succeed as much as, IF NOT MORE THEN, Sage, Brewer and co do, most certainly!

So it's FAR FROM FUN, getting the boot stuck in - It's a shameful affair for all - Including Edwards himself I'm sure. I'm SURE he'd have mixed feelings taking his beloved club through legal action - but his hand forced and many of us fans can well sympathise with his circumstances, what we've witnessed, atleast publicly!

He WHAT now? Seems the coaching staff were ALWAYS 'the enemy/bad guys' in this mix - CLEARLY. Loyal Naven, former long time captain, another Perth Glory Legend, positioned in an another untenable scenario. He'd be wrecked given what has happened, his principles, integrity and long service, including as NYL coach. My gd - Don't FN DOG Naven too Sage! BUCK FN HECK - OFCOURSE - COMPLETE THE FN PROCESS, YOU HAVE TO, MAY ASWELL GO WHOLE HOG, YOU HAVE LIL FN CHOICE SAGE. Naven was public in his loyalty and condemnation, including via Social Media. CLEARLY he was part of problem, right Sage? OR WRONG?!

Pressure's on Naven, get back in-line with this Player-Run club or ship out boyo!

My god, I'm not even that long-term of a Glory fan, that committed (Membership-wise, years following, attachment to code etc), but could almost cry, reading your post Iridium1010!

So in terms of opposite, you mean Burns is taking legal action at Edwards seeking Burns' removal as Captain? :p

Oh yeah, THAT'D be right - In the 'upside down land' that is Perth Glory! Don't know whether to: , or go: :p aka 'loopy'!

MG wrote:

Damn only 15 people, guess we lucky THAT many turned up - Good on you 15 folk, GOOD ON YOU. I would've liked to have been there, not for excitement, but for concerned necessity. The events at the club have gone from long-term degrees of mild-mismanagement or slightly more, to a sudden explosion of thoroughly disturbing levels, just as when things, the 'outlook' was looking soo bright, positive, optimistic under Edwards-era Glory! It's such a shame that era has ended soo early, given the mini-revival of 'West Australian pride' and 'Glory of Old' he was leading. It was wonderful, while it lasted.

:(

You 15 gave good value it seems - We all look forward to a more thorough run-down of all the Q&A. Atleast credit to Brewer and even Sage, for organising this AND being there, in this clearly difficult time for all. I don't envy Sage or Brewer in their positions either - we all know how difficult this scenario would've been, heck, it may've been more difficult than we could even imagine?! But there was an absolute and very strong sense, that this and many things, could be handled alot better and even justly. Even as a fan of the A-League generally, and looking at scenarios/lessons from other clubs. Glory just does soo worse and the Brisbane Roar parallels circa early Ange-era, maybe there are subtle differences in the detail, but... It's bizarre and even disturbing, just what has transpired here.

Again, what would a 'football brain' on the board, make of this? Or even a PROPER Technical Director who'd help oversee and even handle this? Mich d'Avray, IF he was TD, would NOT be happy with the whole scenario, for sure!

The consideration, the pov or side of the coaching staff - The contrasting politics/dynamic of the scenario - it just seems it wasn't even understood, let alone 'considered' or what not. It turns out Edwards and co were on a hiding to nothing, from the get-go!

No wonder Edwards seeks a lawyer now - He clearly needed one from the start of this process - to help DEFEND himself and present his case, to Sage and co! But when it's a some kind of 'Inquisitorial System' where the defendant is 'Guilty til proven innocent' - No, 'ei incumbit probatio qui dicit' or even Corpus delicti here - one wonders even IF 'Audi alteram partem' was REALLY applied/understood too?!

No, rather, Ali Edwards became 'Persona non grata' right away!

Perth Glory = Peakesville, Ohio, in the Twilight Zone Universe!

Edwards: "That's right, I'm a very bad man, you keep thinking that, you keep thinking bad thoughts about me - And maybe some man in this room, some man with the guts, somebody who's so sick to death of living in this kind of place and willing to take a chance... somebody please sneak up behind him, somebody end this NOW, WHILE HE'S THINKING OF ME! WON'T SOMEBODY TAKE A LAMP, OR A BOTTLE OR SOMETHING AND END THIS?!!"

Though this little boy has a few willing collaborators. Sage and Brewer must continue to think 'Happy Thoughts' about these boys, or else they will end up in the Cornfield with Edwards, his sons, Naven and the rest!

'That's a REAL GOOD thing you done there, boys, a REAL GOOD thing!'

'Thank you Sagey.'

Oh gee, isn't that a REALL GOOD thing, that's a REAL GOOD thing those boys have gone done, isn't it?

Sure is! It sure is a REALL GOOD thing!

It sure is, 'The Good Life', isn't it? ;) #-o :(

Dude there was so much said it's all a total mindf**k for a football fan to either believe or accept. For eg, it was the clubs position that they explicitly told Alastair Edwards after last friday night to NOT, after warning him by e-mail and text, not to talk to reporters at the airport when they got back. Another fan on the night says they can back this up by having seen the message. As well, even things like the Glory crowds in the NSL are questionable; a very good source on the night says those figures are not accurate, to say 15k crowds were there in the old days is exaggerated. 11/12k is more likely at the time. See what I mean? Even things to do with Ryan Edwards contract was dodgy.

Details of Ryan's contract should certainly not be discussed by the CEO and owner. Besides the the board have to agree to the contracts of players, are they trying to blame Ali for the contract? Or was there a stipulation that Ryan receive a first team position?
