mmm, which 2 to omit? The big shake up has come up with the same squad. Don't know what to make of this, if we've not got a coach, and the team sheet says Sidnei is back, although today's Worst says the opposite. At least Cheeseman is back.

Tony sage tried to blame ali for pantaledis leaving on a free transfer, reckons it was ali's fault that they didn't get a transfer fee for him , because ali was in charge of all the players contracts !!! , sage wanted to get 20-30k for him as compensation because his contract wasn't up until march.
Also lay the blame with edwards on signing gallas , claimed edwards kept telling him the team needed Gallas , and now sage is whinging because he has been injured

MG wrote:Dude there was so much said it's all a total mindf**k for a football fan to either believe or accept. For eg, it was the clubs position that they explicitly told Alastair Edwards after last friday night to NOT, after warning him by e-mail and text, not to talk to reporters at the airport when they got back. Another fan on the night says they can back this up by having seen the message. As well, even things like the Glory crowds in the NSL are questionable; a very good source on the night says those figures are not accurate, to say 15k crowds were there in the old days is exaggerated. 11/12k is more likely at the time. See what I mean? Even things to do with Ryan Edwards contract was dodgy.
Edited by MG: 19/12/2013 09:23:59 AM Indeed total mindf**k for those not there too! Glory's Glory days are slightly exaggerated, but same time, during the very peak periods, they WERE drawing a 13k average or so, circa 1997-2000. Year, most of the period past then, post-Stange when they actually started winning things, same time the NSL on a clear decline, the average was flat-lining at that 11-12k mark. S1 of Glory in the A-League still kept up to a degree, either way, that CAN'T be argued against. It was relatively lower, but it was still a near 10k average, with some optimism, but that was all thoroughly dashed by the combo of McMahon, 'infamous Marquee' Brian Deane and Nick Tana upping and leaving not too long after. The FFA-period were a slender period too, on and off the field and we've heard, some of us experienced, some of that cost cutting/stream-ling and what not, first hand, through the 'Perth Glory Experience' at games and what not? It's just CLEAR, again, and proved across the league. It's NO mystery! It's hard work and engagement - engagement on a variety of fronts, from communal, to competitive ticket prices/membership packs, to the atmosphere at grounds, to the style on the field! Glory were FAR from the only club to 'drop the ball' during that period and seriously lose momentum and even enter deaths door. But this is where Sage deserves great credit - he revived the club, brought a degree of new optimism not seen in it's A-League history and this have been trending up since. He and his initial consortium, literally saved the club and have provided steady investment for growth since - albeit the investment could've been better targeted initially, but it seems clear he's learning that now. Anyway, it's hard work winning back fans etc... and takes a longer period of time. Success on the field is only part of that and again Sage surely learning that. What Edwards was achieving was contributing far more than ANY Marquee, cashed up squad or visiting EPL team friendlies could achieve! And that's again, why it's such a shame that what's happened, has happened! Edited by gloryperth: 19/12/2013 05:43:05 PM

Does Gallas know that the club are allocating blame regarding his recruitment?? I would say he would be on the next plane out of Perth, if he was aware of that kind of disrespect!!

Worth noting that Gallas is not in squad...something smells foul, he's supposed to be fit now? Edited by iridium1010: 19/12/2013 06:08:48 PM

I just think too much damage has been done, a lot of fans have already made up their mind. When people ask for Tony to hand back the license, everytime he just says back "Okay, who is going to replace me and take over? Who is willing to lose money when it's impossible to break even? Who is willing to budge Nick Tana for a better deal when he won't even come to the table? The FFA? Do they care about us?"

So has Tony established that Ali actually made any positive contributions to this club at all, or does Ali just get lumbered with every disaster known. It certainly seems that way, and if there's any blame anywhere, it's straight to Ali. Five minutes ago I'm reading Tony only gets involved in the signing of marquees, but that's back to Ali's fault as well now. Very sick of all this crap.

The only way out is for foreign investors to chip in, even then their offer would likely make the club worse off or they would be put off by the offer asked in return. I don't think anyone in Perth is remotely interested, you wouldn't see a consortium like the Welnix group in Wellington for eg.

But one thing is for sure. The rot at this club starts at the top. The club will only move forward once Sage leaves. Until then Perth Glory will just be a yearly Circus with a bunch of clowns running the show. The man that says he loves this club is slowly killing it upon repair.

I've tried to support Sage as much as I could, but I've certainly been swung to the other side of the fence. I don't think the financial security he brings outweighs the damage he causes.

Jason Brewer interviews http://www.6pr.com.au/blogs/6pr-perth-blog/glory-in-turmoil-coach-sacked/20131217-2zjjj.htmlhttp://www.6pr.com.au/blogs/6pr-perth-blog/ex-glory-star-in-line-to-take-reins/20131219-2zobu.htmlCurrent known candidates are Chris Coyne, Kenny Lowe, Mark Rudan, Ante Milicic, Gary Phillips and Damian Mori. Mich d'Avray has been spoken of but I don't think there is any interest from him. The coach is expected to be announced tomorrow and will see out the rest of the season. Gareth Naven, Scott Miller and Bobby Despotovski are expected to stay at the club, none of them are vying for the top job. Naven has been training with the team. The direction of the club that Alistair started will continue. Jason Brewer has said that he has received no notification from Alistair about suing the club. Where's the stability? He's been the longest serving A-League ownerand what has that gotten us? Nothing but problems.
He gave away money to DM to get players, they arrived and their attitude was fucked to say the least.
Thus started the Sage-era...

Don't know about Rudes but Ante would be great!! Even Mori!! Not Coyne, I think he will be too results driven. Although he may be keen to restore some pride, and he won't take any shit from people trying to get one over him.

I'm not keen on an interim manager, I wouldn't mind us waiting a couple of weeks and employing a full time manager. Perth needs someone to continue what Ali started and clear out what he doesn't want before they all get new contracts and the new manager is stuck with another year or two of McGarry and Burns when we clearly need to head in another direction.

Mori's been doing ok in the SA Premier League from memory. I think. Don't quote me on that.
Lowe and Milicic are my two favourites from that list. Wouldn't be too unhappy with Mori or Rudan.

I think we all agree - we basically need a tough head, who's prepared to make the tough decisions and carry on the philosophy that was already under way at Glory and if that means offing some 'resistant forces' then so be it!
We want this, Naven and co do aswell, and EVEN the club, want this. Brewer basically said they want to continue Edwards' work, approved of that direction/work, so a coach like Edwards, who just happens to be NOT Edwards!
But now the SCRUTINY jumps from the end of one process to the next: The Coach Recruiment Process and given the inconvenient window, it won't be easy, especially finding that ideal candidate, given the tougher than normal recent circumstances too.
Edwards in fair part got the flick because he took on the big heads, veterans of the squad and seems he bit off more than he could chew or what not. But to execute this philosophy, for success heading into the near future, the new coach MUST continue that path and that would indeed including letting some more of these peakd or fringe boys go, for players who can better execute the demands of the coach and his 'National Curriculum influenced' style of football.
It's no mystery - Ange has done very similar with his squads, and for Perth to follow that path, it's squad will logically not remain as it is now. The revolution is only semi-complete and still alot of resistant deadwood, not quite pulling their weight or rising to the challenge, which leaves Glory's quality that bit more diminished.
You need your leading players, leading, leading by example - not sitting on the bench (Due to ordinary form, injuries etc) and doing stuff like this! Now ANY coach knows that!

Normanton or Lowe should get it. They wont be succesful but they;ll shut the state league twats up. Just not possible. Basically - whoever can execute the demands necessarily in order to play to the style and level we were endeavouring, with the accompanying demand of keeping the budget tight (Sagey cost-cutting) and bringing through a portion of younger, local talent, which ties well to the former demand. I favour all but C.Coyne and Rudan - Their lack of experience and perhaps even qualifications, may count against them? But if they DID go one of those two, I'd favour Coyne, just due to own bias for a West Australian and Glory legend. Edited by gloryperth: 20/12/2013 01:47:06 AM

Mark Rudan just won the NSWPL this season with Sydney United, which is probably the strongest state league, it would be interesting to see there budget compared to other nsw clubs though. He's obviously inexperienced but his commentating has really stepped up this season and has shown himself to be tactically aware coach. He also has Foxsports ties...just saying. What kind of style he plays idk, we obviously want a tactical and entertaining style of play.
Btw guys give the SST podcast a listen;)

Of course Rudan has his badges, you've been on this forum long enough and you haven't seen the fapping?
Milicic, Stubbins and Rudan are probably the most qualified managers that have not had a chance at A-League level yet. You'd want any of the three. Except with Sage over their heads.
