The problem with Sage's hard on for players like Smeltz and Burns and to a lesser extent McGarry is that they are getting long in the tooth, but won't cop being on the bench sometimes to allow the coach to bring the kids through. If our older players are all gonna be demanding starts, better to put these players out to pasture and bring in some players in their mid/late twenties (like Sidnei) who still have some pep and can provide a structure for the younger ones.

Will wait on a match analysis from those who watched, but fox stats look grim.
Equalised at 84 minutes with a McGarry penalty, only to lose to a 98th minute CCM winner. Then the matter of a few yellows, plus Burns sent off in injury time. Don't know the facts obviously, but old heads prevailing may have been a better option.
And was it 7 shots at goal, and although some high, wide and handsome, that's 1 more than last week.

TBF to Lowe we've been doing long balls and crosses all season, really getting tired of it-.-, was hard enough under Fergie.

It would be nice if we didn't allow another last-minute-of-injury-time goal for a while. That would be pretty cool.

Midfield should be a bit more creative next game with Burns in the stands.

Burns was shit all game. Red card just capped it off.
Best players for me were McGarry and Davies. At this rate, Davies will be on course to win the MGP in his first year. Also, Cernak impressed me when he came on, kudos to him.
Desperately need a creative midfielder.

If that was the case, then it followed what I regarded as his most abysmal game ever the previous week against Adelaide. On that form he shouldn't have got a start this week, but I've tried to be lenient after him not playing for a few weeks. And I can't help but think our most dour, experienced, bleeds for the club skipper, just may have been the extra body in that penalty area in the dying seconds that would have made the difference. Right or wrong by the officials, it appears he's once again opened his mouth one time too many, and he and the club have to put up with the cost. And it's a huge cost looking at what it's done to our ladder position, particularly given it was an away game. And worse, us fans have to put up with that crap. No doubt he's spinning off the cliches as I write.

I fear that with Ali gone we're now gonna keep players we would of otherwise gotten rid of. According to SST the players were pissed that we got rid of Panta(not sure why it is their issue) , and sage himself brought him up, yet I don't think there were many, if any supporters questioning why we got rid of him. We have Lowe wanting to keep Smeltz, Sage talking about injury replacement players.
And why did Cernak play?

I don't get why people are angry about Panta leaving. We let Mehmet go, and he was petty popular by all accounts. There was never any anger about that.
This club is going nowhere. Given up hope of it finding it's feet soon.

He's Lowe's mother's, sister's, cousin's, nephew, so he had to have a run. Best reason I could think of.

First goal was definitely down to him. Panta would have put that over the half way line.

This club is going nowhere. Given up hope of it finding it's feet soon. the difference is Mehmet wanted to leave and found another club, Pants didn't but Edwards was actively looking to offloiad him, The agent on SST said that he had a txt saying that Pants was available 2 weeks before he left and at the same time Edwards denied he was on his way out.

All the more reason - the next coaching regime, be it Lowe or whoever, NEEDS to complete the 'clean slate' and let some of these boys go. Cernak was a dead certainty to leave even before he got here, but his terms were honoured and now he's just a dead certainty to be amongst the first to be released, end of season.
And surely, hopefully, same with others. Burns FFS - Another send-off - Heck, on your bike son, we send you off back across the Nullabor. What is it with Burns and his disciplinary record?! That's all Glory needs, after he only JUST got back from a prior suspension AND this 'WHO-HA' with the former coaching regime. Guy has gotsta go! Zahra and some of the other trouble makers aren't much good either!
Yes, the team 'lacks experience' Lowe and co, but the 'experience' it DOES have, in key positions, which the team relies on HEAVILY, are the ones letting the team down. THAT'S where Glory needs to improve and the team needs better quality than what it has in centre midfield, upfront and what not. People can use the 'young players' excuse only soo long and some of these young players are good young players/not the weakest links either - but Glory has needed more 'quality' and even 'reliability' from it's 'experienced core' for a while now.

Edited by gloryperth: 1/1/2014 06:09:55 PM If Glory are to take the youth approach then don't expect experience. I don't want Glory falling back into old habits and start selecting "names". They need to stick with youth and it will pay off. Trying for a quick fix for 9 seasons has not worked. What's the definition of insanity??? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Glory are insane. They need to play youth, stick with it and wait for the results.

GLORY
OH GLORY
This is low. Very low. Again.
PERTH GLORY - WORST CLUB IN A-LEAGUE HISTORY? It's officially beyond doubt.
It's a f***in joke and hurts to even think about all of the shit we put up with, always, and seemingly forever.

Players need to pull their heads in a little, particularly on twitter. McGarry tweeted that the refs were monkeys and Burns retweeted it FFS. If they get sanctioned I'll be furious at them. Seems they need to look at themselves a little closer rather than blaming other. Even if the ref was awful, he wasn't as bad as the performances the oldheads have been putting out since the Edwards fiasco.

They need to play youth, stick with it and wait for the results. GP was bemoaning the experience we do have, that is not exactly a shining light at the moment. Edwards may have been a cunt, he may be a complete fucktard irt man management, McGarry may give 110% every game and Thwaite may be the best CB we've had since my namesake but really, the way all the senior players have handled themselves is diabolical. There's blood on their hands, they need to restore the faith with fans and what do they do? Get sent off for pathetic reasons, argue with fans after the game or have to be restrained from doing another slapping episode? How is this setting a good example for out youngsters to develop?

Fair go, I can see England turning it around in time. On a more challenging note, how to post Saturday's squad and contain my excitement at the same time. And our injured brigade seem to be forever stuck in the Hayden Foxe '2 weeks' category. Why don't we sign up some short term replacements, as it seems to have been weeks and weeks. Smeltz himself said ready for next home game, so assume he'll be back then. Maybe Gallas too.
I too would like to see a CamEds/O'Brien midfield. Unlike Burns, Cam has some decent forum and can pass a ball.

The Worst again rambles on about Glory. Whoopee, Gallas coming back next week after 6 weeks missing with his 2 week injury. And didn't know, but Dodd is listed as out for the season. Thought he was on the way back, particularly having seen the media of his tennis performance at the Hopman Cup. Anyway, confirms that Risdon is weeks away, and Jamieson and Dodd out for the season. Then goes on to say we may look at injury replacements! What, now? Let's not rush into anything here, why not wait another 10 or 12 weeks to see if they're really out for the season then talk about it some more. No, I'm not happy with this crap.
And here's another tip for the Club. Get nothing out of today, and we face a bottom of the table clash next Friday against the rampaging Melbourne Heart. Again scheduled up against the Wildcats, and the Heart forwards of Williams, Misfud and Kewell are still reasonable. I digress, and may just take it one week at a time. And speaking of walking cliches, the mouthpiece of Burns has been strangely silent for a fortnight given his performances over that time.
