Although I don't think our club would be one of the potential candidates but what do the people here think of the possibility of Fernando Hierro coaching?

Guys, when will you realise that SB is actually Tony Sage or Jason Brewer here to distract conversation away from proper discussion and analysis of the club's fortunes and issues?

Begbie, see my post to Eastern Glory on the previous page in which I am still awaiting a simple response. “ Would it be acceptable to you if I stated something as simple as I (and others) just do not believe Mclaren will make it ?
Because clearly, on this site at least, people have trouble with something as unbelievably fundamental as that.
Genuine question “ The sad fact of the matter is that the fanboys, little girls, whiny gays and creepy groomers infest this site and if you don’t conform to what, in their sad, sad little world, believe is acceptable than you’re ostracised. It’s not good enough to simply state the contrary by way of “nope – I think the lads shit” oo no, nope, no way. You need to provide a lengthy, wordy thesis like explanation that has to justify every point you made. Just look at the plethora of nauseating examples above. I’ll keep posting whatever the fuck I like. If ppl choose to read it or enter into a debate regarding the content then fine. If not, that’s fine too. If ppl indeed fall into the category above and my posts pisses them off or gets them all hot and bothered because they have little else in their lives. Then mate, that just makes me laugh….and lot. Like I have said many times, debate all you like but once you step over the line and have a personal dig then I’m right back at you. Make no mistake. Unfortunately there are those on here that are happy to dish it out but evidently, not so happy getting some back. ;) SB

Seems that the post mortem by-passed midfield, much like our attacking play.... Quote:Perth Glory's shortcomings up front were laid bare by coach Kenny Lowe in an extended video review yesterday ahead of their crunch clash with embattled Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium.
Glory are eighth, two points and goal difference outside the top six, and their finals hopes rest on their ability to turn around a horror record in attack.
Glory have found the net just 18 times in as many matches and have struggled to find a regular avenue to goal, with all-time leading scorer Shane Smeltz sidelined for half the season through injury.
Smeltz has scored three times since his return last month but was rarely sighted in last week's loss to last-placed Melbourne Heart.
European imports Darvydas Sernas and Nebojsa Marinkovic have bolstered Glory's attacking options, but the pair are still finding their feet and struggled in searing temperatures last week.
Defender Michael Thwaite said the review of the Heart game had highlighted Glory's poor decision-making and execution in the attacking third of the pitch.
"Defensively for the last few years we've been very good, but we need to be a lot more proactive in the final third and that's what the coach showed us in the video," Thwaite said.
"We had 18 occasions where we got into the final third with time and space but we're just not making the right decisions.
"That's the key and we're just trying to find that (chemistry) with the new foreigners that are coming in."
Glory are in the middle of a tough five-game stretch, four of which are on the road.
They have struggled to pick up points away from home this season, collecting just five in nine games, but are aiming to rectify that record on Saturday.
"The table doesn't lie," Thwaite said.
"We need to be consistently better and we need to improve our away record." Wonder if those 18 occassions included speculative long balls that required a miracle to even bring under control...

Are those 18 occasions meant to be over every game since Lowe took charge?!
I can't remember a game where I'd need more than 1 hand to count the number of positive build-ups that might've led to a goal-scoring opportunity...
SBS reporting today that Hierro wants to coach in the HAL and bring Raul as a marquee striker with him... we should be all over that.

Glory have the lowest shots-at-goal average in the A-League (10.45 per game), but they're third highest in terms of shots-on-target (5.43 per game). http://www.aleaguestats.com/ALeagueStats_31_2013ShootingStats.htmlInteresting statistic, IMO. Might be indicative of Glory not shooting at times when other teams do (and miss).

Edited by iridium1010: 13/2/2014 06:32:13 PM Lowe and Edwards were much the same i.m.o. Both tactically naive and both clearly lacking in vital senior management experience. There’s a vast jump between coaching kids and women to coaching senior men’s teams and everything that comes with it. I’d like to see a European coach of note who is suitably experienced (not a novice) and genuinely wishes to build a (real) football culture at the club. I don’t believe that is too much to ask.

Edited by iridium1010: 13/2/2014 06:32:13 PM I agree. But he will be coach next season because after an exhaustive search he will be the cheapest option. Just a shame that all these cheap choices are turning out to be very costly. Simples.

You also have to think that we're just not that attractive an option for a decent coach either.

Agree with all of this. But that said given the desperate state of the club I wouldn't mind us saving a few bucks to experiment with a novice e.g. Fernando Hierro if he was genuinely interested... bringing in Raul to replace Smeltz and Gallas would be a cost-saving massive boost to the side also. Other than that, yes my credentials would be as follows: - Affordable (e.g. if experienced, largely at a lower level) - Speaks English at an effective standard - Track record of developing teams that can play attractive football while still achieving positive results - Would prefer to avoid traditional powerhouse nations as their best coaches will tend to move up within their own systems... would love to try exploring Scandinavia for available coaches (probably a good region to look at decent VISA players as well...)

Fan forum? No I won't be going.
No interest in being placated like some seem to crave, and hearing things we've all heard before from these people. Need real change in my eyes, not more band-aids on a broken leg.
