I think you either need a mirror, or a dictionary bookmarked at "irony". The reason your opinions are given no merit is because your response to anyone disagreeing with you is to berate them with insults (often involving homosexuality, which says a lot about your character.) Counter point: Bovs disagreed with the masses on one point (I believe it was Cam Edwards in fact) and his opinion was respected because he provided it in a rational and non-inflammatory manner. The so-called "unbelievable" Cam Edwards debate came about because someone had the audacity to suggest that he was actually a competent young footballer and you couldn't shake your Edwards-rage long enough to counter in a mature manner.

Going by experience, he would have to serve a year as assistant to Lowe before having any shot at the main gig

Perth Glory's shortcomings up front were laid bare by coach Kenny Lowe in an extended video review yesterday ahead of their crunch clash with embattled Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium.

Glory are eighth, two points and goal difference outside the top six, and their finals hopes rest on their ability to turn around a horror record in attack.

Glory have found the net just 18 times in as many matches and have struggled to find a regular avenue to goal, with all-time leading scorer Shane Smeltz sidelined for half the season through injury.

Smeltz has scored three times since his return last month but was rarely sighted in last week's loss to last-placed Melbourne Heart.

European imports Darvydas Sernas and Nebojsa Marinkovic have bolstered Glory's attacking options, but the pair are still finding their feet and struggled in searing temperatures last week.

Defender Michael Thwaite said the review of the Heart game had highlighted Glory's poor decision-making and execution in the attacking third of the pitch.

"Defensively for the last few years we've been very good, but we need to be a lot more proactive in the final third and that's what the coach showed us in the video," Thwaite said.

"We had 18 occasions where we got into the final third with time and space but we're just not making the right decisions.

"That's the key and we're just trying to find that (chemistry) with the new foreigners that are coming in."

Glory are in the middle of a tough five-game stretch, four of which are on the road.

They have struggled to pick up points away from home this season, collecting just five in nine games, but are aiming to rectify that record on Saturday.

"The table doesn't lie," Thwaite said.

"We need to be consistently better and we need to improve our away record."

Are those 18 occasions meant to be over every game since Lowe took charge?!

I can't remember a game where I'd need more than 1 hand to count the number of positive build-ups that might've led to a goal-scoring opportunity...


SBS reporting today that Hierro wants to coach in the HAL and bring Raul as a marquee striker with him... we should be all over that.

Interesting statistic, IMO. Might be indicative of Glory not shooting at times when other teams do (and miss).

Seems that the post mortem by-passed midfield, much like our attacking play....

I agree.

But he will be coach next season because after an exhaustive search he will be the cheapest option.

Just a shame that all these cheap choices are turning out to be very costly.

Lowe and Edwards were much the same i.m.o. Both tactically naive and both clearly lacking in vital senior management experience.
There’s a vast jump between coaching kids and women to coaching senior men’s teams and everything that comes with it.

I’d like to see a European coach of note who is suitably experienced (not a novice) and genuinely wishes to build a (real) football culture at the club.

I don’t believe that is too much to ask.

Would it be acceptable to you if I stated something as simple as I (and others) just do not believe Mclaren will make it ?

Because clearly, on this site at least, people have trouble with something as unbelievably fundamental as that.
