Im fairly certain they will continue to make more episodes after the movie. I heard somewhere that Fox has picked The Simpsons up for a 20th season.

Originally the series was to end with the Movie, but the as stated, Fox picked it up for a couple more seasons.
I think it may be a world wide premier, gets released in July (or June) which means a big summer release for the states. If they were smart, it would be world wide.

You don't realise how rubbish it is now until you happen on an old episode pre (I would say) Season 11. Sharp as a tack and funny as hell. There's still the occasional gem but really they should have canned it a decade ago.
