At least he'll still give entertaining interviews.
Feel sorry for the young boys, hopefully they'll be given more of a run than what Lowe has already given.
Just a quick question, would Perth fans be happy to keep Gallas as a marquee, or only if he somehow went under the cap, if at all?

No we don't have to give Kenny time, he's had the majority of this debacle of a season!

The conundrum is quite simple to explain ..........
If you are stupid ........ you cannot realise you are stupid ......... therefore you cannot effectively change.
It is like ........ when you die ......... you do not know that you are dead. You are not saying to yourself ......oh shit I am dead ..... what a bitch .... there is so much more that I wanted to do ?????? .......... you are dead!!!!!!
What we are seeing at Perth is the fans thinking it is their team blah blah blah .... when in reality it is sages toy. His fifteen minutes of fame and the opportunity to have all and sundry pay homage to his greatness.
I stopped being optimistic about the appointment of a coach when I heard bosnich was involved.

Must be the result of the perks of not being a Glory supporter.

Edited by A16Man: 22/4/2014 02:45:43 PM I would be disappointed if we kept Gallas as our marquee. I would like to think it would be hard to be disappointed after all this time, surely it's what I should expect. But no, still disappointed. I'm going to get a brain tumour if I keep on supporting this club. I guess I would be happy if we could keep Gallas under the cap. He's definitely not worth marquee salary.

Seems all but confirmed to be Lowe, announcement expected soon. Even after all this season and before, I'm still shocked.

I think a good demonstration by supporters first league game should be in order. Wave wooden spoons all round. Sage is so stupid. But as was said elsewhere, if you are that stupid, you will never know you are stupid.

Two years, I mean what do you even say to that? What can you possibly say about the institutional malaise that is required to commit to a debacle like this?
This is unreal. The laws of physical reality have been jettisoned and we are in Sagespace now.

Seriously though if things start going terrible next season, us fans really need to start letting the club know, we've been patient for 8 years now, enough of this "just support the boys" shit, I support the club, not individual players who frankly I couldn't give two shits about.

Given "the boys" are a big part of the Edwards-knifing fiasco that has over the long road led us to this current fiasco...

I'm letting the club know by not renewing my membership or attending matches. I support Perth Glory, but I will not fund the club's inept management. Glory will not get a dollar out of me from now until I am reasonably satisfied that they have sorted out their overall incompetence (which I imagine will be some time.) I will pay attention to their results and hope they do well, but I feel decreased takings sends a clearer message than showing up and hoping for the best.

From the Fox site - This has got to be some of the most shit, uninspiring responses I've ever seen from someone getting the top job. In fact, it was really what he's said from day one. Kenny, you do need to win us over. God help us.
PERTH Glory coach Kenny Lowe has admitted he was surprised to win the full-time job and says he can guarantee he will one day be sacked.
Straight-shooting Lowe, who has been interim coach since December, was on Tuesday confirmed as Glory coach for the next two years.
Lowe had been viewed as an unlikely contender after he presided over a 10-match winless streak.
Having built a reputation as a respected youth coach, he answered an SOS from Glory in December after Alistair Edwards was sacked following a bitter player revolt.
Lowe’s record was four wins, four draws and nine losses in 17 games in charge.
“I’m surprised. At the end of the day I’m not really high profile,’’ he said.
“But I think I’ve got qualities that will allow me to do well. So I’m looking forward to the challenge and it’s a big challenge.’’
Lowe has targeted improvement and said his main priority would be “getting better players’’.
“Someone once said to me: ‘you want to be a great coach, get great players. You want to be a good coach, get good players. You want to be a crap coach, get crap players’,’’ he said.
“So ultimately you want to improve your playing group, which will allow you to hopefully improve results.’’
Asked whether two years was enough to turn the club around, Lowe said “I think it’s brave of them to give me the job.
“If I’d sat here with five I’d have a big smile on my face. I think they’ve been brave doing what they’re doing.
“Now it’s down to me to be brave to do what I need to do.
“I don’t need to win anybody over, I need to come in and do a good job.
“It’s football. There’s only two things that will happen while I’m here at this club, that I’ll guarantee will happen - 1. I’ll get criticism. 2. I’ll get the sack.
“That’s guaranteed. But I just hope it’s a way down the road.’’

Don't know where to start with this. 1) So what's he saying about the players we have now? What are they to think? 2) Targeting "improvement" is not a coaching philosophy. 3) Getting in good players is not a coaching philosophy. It's a given, but what you do with them doesn't seem to ever crack a mention. Hope he gets on to that at some point. The whole thing has echoes of Fergie, who's solution was always to go for a 'good player' to solve his problems. Not only that, but the "he knows the players" excuse was trundled out when Fergie was appointed/retained. Does anyone know what Lowe's record is whilst assistant coach under Fergie? I know he bailed out when the good ship Fergie started sinking, but how did that duo do whilst he was assistant?

Think I'll start going into denial. 18/02/2009 was the last day of Glory's existence. Btw, it didn't even take him a year before one of his soon-to-be-many threats of a walkout: http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/tony-sage-threatens-glory-walk-out/story-e6frg1wu-1225809737390

Does Anyone know when burns' time at the club is up?
He is currently having a running battle with Brewer re-tweeting any positive Glory related tweets.
I would be surprised if he was not at Glory in some capacity next season.

Brewer was on 913 Sport FM this morning, which was good, but can't say I was close to won over. Regarding the world-wide search, said we had resumes show up from Europe, Asia and a few from South America (sigh) but really didn't go into any detail as to why we didn't go down that road beyond some nebulous comments about Perth needing to show faith and continuity and not having done that before.
I have to admit, I nearly got into an accident whilst staring at the radio in shock.

The only thing good about Lowe being retained is watching his antics on the sidelines, he does seem to be onside with the players , I have never seen a coach who gives players such pasionate hugs, maybe he does that off the field with Sage and co and they like it. The youth emphasis might mean Sage has had a look at his books and decided to cut costs or just another smoke screen. I don't see Lowe as being a certain failure if he gets lucky with the players he brings in.

Fascinating,so based on what some random person once said ,Lowe begins compiling his Football philosophy. Lowe :Truths and musings;1 :The quality of the coach is determined by the quality of the players. I look forward to many more gems throughout the year. It is just amazing that a manager/ coach with four years experience at Barrow ,while under administration and Gateshead before that is the best Perth could find. The fact that Sage had the chance to try before buying is even more amazing.

Clearly not the best we could find. Exactly what so endeared him to Sage & co is unclear, but it clearly wasn't being the most talented option.

Edited by nickk: 23/4/2014 09:57:27 AM If Glory are relying on luck in the selection of mature age experienced players then they are doomed. It was also laughable Brewer comparing the route that Glory are taking to the route that CCM took. Two big differences. An owner who knows how to run a club and a coach who knows how to get results. Glory have neither.

As Interim coach Edwards brought in: De Silva, Woodcock, Davies and promoted Roux and QuaQua and got the team into the finals playing attractive football.
As Interim coach Lowe brought in: Griffiths, Marinkovic, Sernas and narrowly missed the Wooden Spoon playing horrible football.
Where on earth is his track record of doing any good during his interim-coach time?
