The other slightly ironic thing is that we have brought in all the kids last year, and this season need up to 3 IMPORTS to fill the shoes of those departing and to add some experience. Surely that's where an overseas coach might have had some useful contacts?

Even if Sage was delusional enough to believe Lowe will do well, how could he think it's a reasonable choice in a marketing sense? The money saved in the short term hiring Lowe could possibly be negated by the reduction in memberships alone. So short sighted. It's actually making me laugh reading all the facebook comments. FMD, that Roca bloke has been an assistant at the best clubs in Europe and coaching the best players (with their egos no less) and is currently an assistant for Saudi Arabia.

This is such an epic fail on so many levels. Un fucking believable.

Imagine the contacts he would have had. Imagine the flair he could of brought to Glory. Imagine the crowds that would have come back to the club. Imagine the systems he could have implemented. Imagine the youth he could of developed.

That's all Glory fans are allowed to do. Imagine what if could have been like.

With Lowe, Glory fans know exactly what they're going to get. Shit. Absolute shit. Dour play, a new coach by Christmas 2014 and a wooden spoon next season.

So what salary was this coach prepared to move to Perth for?
I think money is the fundemental issue if you advertise worldwide for coaches you should put down the salary range because if you don't you will get coaches applying thinking they can get millions.
This seems to be what happened they did a worldwide search got a lot of resumes picked the best ones.
Then they find out the best ones all want heaps of money and Lowe gets the job.
I would assume the money they are offering is pretty low because Arnold knocked it back as well.

Exactly. Sage has failed to learn again (for the third or fourth time) that to get the club going in the right direction you need to get the team performing on the park.

Paying big bucks for name players has not worked.

Trying to do it with cheap coaches has not worked.

A top shelf coach was needed. By not spending the dollars up front this decision will in fact cost Glory more than they think they're saving.

People on here have said they will not pay to go see Glory play whilst Sage is still owner. That holds true for me. Crowds will be turning way again by Christmas time when Glory sit stone cold last.

There needed to be an injection of fresh ideas with a fresh view on things with a different style. Freshen the whole frecking club.

If the OS coach wanted $400Kpa and Lowe wanted $200Kpa, that extra $400K over the two years of the contract would be worth it.

Sage is either so stubborn, so cheap, has the wrong people at the club or just does not learn from his mistakes to have made this decision.

Farina was hardly a great coach, but his team made the finals and he appears 10x better than Lowe regardless. Sydney FC still sacked him. We lept Lowe though. A team with true vision.

Look, assuming your hypothetical scenario of a coach applying to an A-League position expecting "millions", Glory said they had over 50 applicants. Now they apparently had a professional company vetting applicants, not to mention their own advisory board. Out of those 50 surely those people in charge would discard those with unrealistic pay expectations.

When you get to the final 6, 3, 2 applications like was publicised - you shouldn't have that scenario, these are coaches you expect could be hired.

Of course some would ask for more than others, that goes without saying, but your final short list shouldn't include anyone unrealistic.

Unless of course, the who process was just a farce and Kenny Lowe already had the job for next season in January.

How I wish there was a local alternative.

I think I'll dig up that expansion and 2nd division thread, that's the only hope I can see.
